No retreat has changed my inner self and brought out my sins right out in plain sight, like the way hearing the talks on various topics on this channel. May the Lord bless not only the channel but all the priests too. Thank you so much for this channel. A great pious use of internet! God bless!
Some priests say abstinence or restricting of foods on Wednesday and also on Friday and one of the saints said to only have white bread and water on Saturday to honor holy mary. This saint is now in heaven.
One thing about the Sensus fidelium homilies is that they're primarily from traditional priest's and you'll often see comments disagreeing or arguing with the priest's advice and they're always from the novus ordo goers due to the giveaway signs of divine mercy and luminous mystery adherence.
Yes, what do you mean by Divine Mercy being a non traditional devotion? You sound sedevacantists? The Dimond lay brothers of mhfm refuse to believe in the revelations of St. Faustina ....They are heretics and are in danger of damnation. Better to believe in the novus ordo Mass then be a heretic. Sensus Fidelium has 6 videos on The Divine Mercy devotion and St. Faustina.
Diabetics need to be extra careful...I dieted and fasted and ended up almost dying with ketoacidosis ...I was in a coma for a week and lost quite a part of my memory afterwards. Always check with ones doctor beforehand.
As the Father giving this homily says, "The fasting requirement excludes the pregnant, elderly, and the sick" (also children under age 16 I believe). This would include diabetics. There are also many ways to fast. The Byzantine Catholic Church (in communion with Rome) recommends staying away from meat and dairy every Wednesday and Friday, following the Liturgical calendar. For those of us who have health issues, such as myself, I look to give up other things, i.e. time on the computer, giving away some of my unneeded items to the needy, or something of that nature. The fasting recommendation is not just about not eating food all day.
Yes, I understand and do offer up my pains and sicknesses in reparation BUT, there needs to be MORE advice before asking someone to fast....knowIng afterwards is not good enough.
My understanding of fasting in the Roman Catholic Church (at least since Vatican II) has always voiced these exceptions. Perhaps your concern should be addressed to your pastor/spiritual father if you weren't aware of these exceptions beforehand. Maybe he needs to make them clearer to everyone. Hope you are in much better health now. God Bless!
The sad irony? Fasting heals most diseases(more and more people "cure" their diabetes with the right diet and intermittent fasting). Nearly no funds go into the "power of healing" trough fasting. Why ? But, at least there is some research about intermittent fasting... Thank God !
I am in work now listening to this doing a 24 hour dry fast for the start of Lent Wed 6th. Tomorrow and Friday I will water fast. Saturday - Thursday I will eat and then dry fast every friday until Lent is over. It is supposed to be hard, you are supposed to suffer and be sorry for your sins. How else would you prove your love for god if you "kind of" fast. I dont get it. Its not that hard either if you let go of fear and have more faith.
My Mom, who grew up during World War II (1940s) recounts how, at the 9:30 AM Mass each Sunday, it was not unusual for at least one adolescent girl to faint and fall to the floor. Sometimes this happened to grown women; sometimes to elderly ladies. These cases had been occurring since the Year dot; everyone was used to it; and no one was particularly surprised or concerned when a girl fell to the floor in the middle of Mass, except the girl's family. And they weren't concerned because everyone knew the faint was brought on by the girl had having fasted from midnight. . Some people can't fast for nine-and-a-half hours. Or fast for even seven hours, in some cases. I believe this fainting was a phenomenon at parishes all over the world, and at last the Church came to understand that it is not OK to make this demand of people who aren't capable of sustaining it. (Some of the past Church disciplines were perhaps at times just a tad harsher than needed, considering the resulting difficulties to some of the faithful. . And, at times, it is just possible to say that one or two of the clergy and religious may have had moments in which they could be a little hasty with the faithful (For example, Sister Regina Anne, at our parish school who used to punish her first-graders by striking them - hard - with a ruler on the back of their heads, when they were distracted or not paying attention. This was back in the early 1970s. I'm glad this sort of thing is no longer acceptable in our Church.)
I beg to differ...prayer is very very personal...I pray better alone at home in my own room...sometimes better after eating...sometimes better in the morning...sometimes better at night...I pray when the Spirit moves me...I pray at least 3-4 hrs per day...not always at the same time...but I attend Daily Mass, complete the 4 Rosary Mysteries, Divine Mercy, and a few devotions and personal prayers for all I know and for the Church...I do find prayer exhausting but comforting and brings with it deep deep peace...
"When you fast, do not be somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward." We ALL need to pray AND fast. This is NOT optional. biblehub.com/matthew/6-16.htm
I do not fast anymore....as a diabetic I cannot fast for long as my blood sugars go haywire...I offer up pains, aches and such in reparation instead, as well as prayers of course.
14:20 "If you live your life as ordinary Catholics it doesn't matter if you come to extraordinary form of a Mass" This doesn't seem right. I probably just don't understand.
@@dtroach20 i think a lot of the people who go to the Tridentine Mass are already striving for holiness, otherwise why would they seek out the Tridentine Mass?
Is sensus fedilum norvus ordo? I keep hearing " extraordinary mass". That's a norvus ordo term. I thought sensus fedilum was purely supporting the true Traditional Faith.
May I suggest that the correct translation for "Christ the King" is LE CHRIST-ROI. And not" Dieu-le Roi". Although Our Lord is also God, the second Person of the All-Mighty Trinity. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
The internet pornographers portion of this is so terrifyingly true. I shutter at the thought. I rarely meet a person who is disgusted by it. Almost never do I. It’s s topic no one wants to talk about it. It depresses me so terribly. I never married because of it.
Good homily but way too many excuses given to not fast. Our grandparents went and got a dispensation if they needed one. Otherwise just quit complaining and keep at least the traditional fasts. Also they need to teach these new priests to preach without a microphone, i.e. stop talking so fast and let the sound travel. Slow down. It isn't a race. Let people hear your words.
The Priest told me in the Confessional: leave a little for God. I still remember those simple words.

Needed this. Thank you father! And 3 hail Mary's
Thanks to father and Steve for this video.
Bless you Father Nix.
I needed to hear this. I was beyond self indulgent this Advent. Food and internet. I use both as distractions. Great video… Thank you,

Social media has become an addiction to our youth! 😭
Excellent sermon thank you

What's wrong with the divine mercy devotion?

Divine Mercy has been a great gift given to the church.
This has been stolen from us and a generation and a generation has been lost. Fasting is 1/3 of the key - we can all be saints with this.
Amem! thank you father; 3 Hail Marys for the priest.
I need to quit with the excuses. This popped up when Ive been putting off fasting. I need to up my A-game

May you find a way to heal your diabetes... so you can fast. :)

That's Fr. David Nix isn't it!?? Amazing
Awesome!

sicut cervus.....wonderful
What do you mean every Friday must be meatless or substitute a single penance? Is this cannon law valid?
Yes.
Father plssss think of my family and me to conevert altghouht i do mr best
I love the Captain Picard picture they snuck in there when he mentioned the "other parishes"
Fasting strengthens prayer. Gluttonous belly slaves have weak prayers.
You want to fast/pray with me ? :)
Strength requires greater maintenance and effort in everything.

What does Fr. Ripperger say about Halal meat?
I need to fast until it hurts.
nice
technology i also one of the few ways to access your homilies....not nesecessarily but for young people, it's a tool of education.
What's the name of the music at the end of the video?
Just when the hell did the Mass of all time become "extraordinary?"
🙏♥️😇
14:20 "If you live your life as ordinary Catholics it doesn't matter if you come to extraordinary form of a Mass" This doesn't seem right. I probably just don't understand.
It means if you don’t strive for holiness then the mass you go to won’t save you. You have to still try to grow in virtue outside of mass to be saved
@@dtroach20 i think a lot of the people who go to the Tridentine Mass are already striving for holiness, otherwise why would they seek out the Tridentine Mass?

I really appreciate your true Catholic videos, but some of the pictures you choose for us to look at - really irritate me. Sorry -
Eat one giant breakfast and don't eat the entire day, until the next day
Hmm
Parents, take you screaming, crying children out to the foyer!!

Fancy living your life according to a Bronze Age myth. Bonkers.
Tomorrow never comes.
