    By the way... as I've been speculating for 2 years... Argus built the Shadowlands.

    I forgot to mention it, but the place where we see Mueh'zala's skull medallion represented the most is the Necropolis temple where Bwonsamdi is. Kinda weird.

      Could it maybe be just a general "catch-all" symbol they made during BfA before they super fleshed necrotic out?

    • @ItsDarkinhereMaxx
      @ItsDarkinhereMaxx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Well if Bwonsamdi usurped Mueh'zala's "throne", then it's possible that temple was never originally Bwonsamdi's,. It would really fit that story arc, as I don't think the symbols blizz uses aren't incredibly intentional.

      Is it possible to Bwomsamdi to forget his own origin? Like, what if there was a power vaccum he had filled and had no awareness of it?

      Pyromancer I think what was said at BlizzCon about Chronicle is actually key. Yes it was written from the perspective of the titans and those who work for them. However there are hints and clues in to other aspects which we will explore in shadowlands.
      So what about the concept that the titans modified and controlled the history that is chronicled along with their pawns/employees as the employees can be considered another source that is not Titan it doesn’t mean it wasn’t controlled by the titans.
      However, some elements of the truths is leaked through in the form of these hints and clues that he mentions and how we explore this in shadowlands.
      My idea is that the titans are actually beings from the realm of order who found a way to use and manipulate powers and elements from other beings.
      Imprisonment - from the Nathrezim for example.
      What if the reason we see a titan with the essence from each realm is they actually steal it and then use it for their own reasons to ‘order’ the cosmos?
      So the Pantheons did exist in each realm as a council as you said but maybe the titans managed to imprison and steal their power and then use it for themselves? So this would also stand to reason why a titan seems so powerful if they are manifesting the power of an entire realm pantheon as their own power
      What do you think?

      @@ItsDarkinhereMaxx Seem there is a lot of "usurpation" arround Death. What if the Death Pantheon is not the original one? And Titans were responsable for that? you know... they are used to leave their personal mark wherever they go xD! and maybe... the Jailer was "an original"

    When the Zandalari are talking about the Blood Trolls, they mention a few times something about "de old ways" which heavily implies that the Zandalari did, at some point, engage in blood rituals.
    Hell, the fact that Zul's influence in the upper eschalons of Zandalari society seems indicative that some still hold these practices in some sort of reverence for a time long gone; perhaps it was blood rituals that helped preserve Zandalar from the destruction of the Sundering, rather than just the elevation.
    Why else go back to something as horrific as blood sacrifices and cannibalism unless there was some perceivably crucial benefit to survival and prosperity that it brought?

    • @Eucep
      @Eucep 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it's as the Zandalari brought it back in vanilla, Hakkar was power, but was also power through total enslavement of trolls and loa alike. And of course, someone power hungry and already completely fooled by G'huun's visions like the prophet Zul was, is going to ignore the bad things.

      Good question, but I think we'll find out that blood magic isn't limited to the Trolls, but is rather one aspect of the greater realm of Death.
      Look at Shadowlands, and you see several ways Death works:
      Rebirth
      Justice
      Condemnation
      Being among passed friends and loved ones
      Decay
      It almost seems like each zone will represent a different aspect of what Death represents from different perspectives.
      Blood is a vital fluid, often seen as a physical manifestation of the soul, and we have an entire zone in Shadowlands filled with, essentially, vampires. Blood, therefore, has some great significance to Death, and Hakkar is merely the Loa representing it for the Troll cultures.

  • @sanghelian

    Things i've picked up using my active listening and critical thinking:
    Trolls tauren and night elves are native to azeroth so they are playable races who "do not work for titans" so their point of view is missing from chronicles.
    Trolls tauren and night elves have divinities confirmed to be real that are not explained in the cronicles.
    It is implied that there is a link between elune and earth mother.
    Elune is implied to have a dark side.
    Elune is represented by moon
    Hakkar seems to be represented by blood moon.
    Elune is implied to be part of the shadowlands story arc
    It's suspicious how hakkar is missing in horde bfa story even though blood worshipping trolls are such big part of it. (This is pure oipinion but propably pretty common one)
    Death, blood and soul are arc words to azeroth as well as its inhabitants during bfa.
    Now only if we knew how to connect the dots!

    • @ShadowTheHedgehogCZ
      @ShadowTheHedgehogCZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember that before BFA came out, people were asking about Hakkar returning after seeing the Blood Moon and the Blood Trolls. That seemed obvious. The Blizzard response at that time if I recall correctly sounded something akin to: "Oh woops, Hakkar exists? We forgot... Well, he's not part of BFA. Maybe next time." At least that was my impression.

A chance that it results in us players having to just survive in an even gloomier death azeroth then even before. A chance that it opens up azeroth to a direct assault by the void lords or another invading force. None of those options really feel appealing to me.

      @@Eucep Obviously we can't have Sylvanas succeed in killing us all and feed our souls to the Jailer in an ongoing game. It's the same reason the faction war couldn't end in the total destruction of the other faction. Not to mention, many players (including me) still want Sylvanas to face justice for her crimes, just like the other villains we've faced before.
      But considering Sylvanas' huge fanbase and Blizzard's recent habit of changing some of the lore we grew up with, there is a possibility Shadowlands may not end like previous expansions. I know Pyromancer defends Sargeras and roots for Sylvanas because he and many others believe it's all for "the greater good", but I for once am no fan of "the greater good". This is World of Warcraft, not Game of Thrones.

    Here’s something completely unrelated to the subject of the Blood Gods and the Loa, but in the realm of Death Gods and the Shadowlands. So, it is confirmed that “The Maw” is directly over Icecrown Citadel, I mean the two towers almost touch each other to a specific point. This raises some questions. Why are they built like that? What is Torghast built out of? Where did “the Maw” come from? Well. The answer is simple and everybody’s been blind to it. It’s Yogg Saron. It seems far fetched, but it makes the most sense out of everything. Ever since WotLK, the Old God has been plotting for this. He created the Emerald Nightmare, the resources used to build ICC, and basically employed Sylvanas. Undead being immune to Saronite is bullshit, it only applies to the Lich King’s minions because they’re already controlled. Sylvanas? No. She is independent, and broke the Lich King’s grasp, she is NOT immune to the void either, as seen in the Shadowlands cinematic using it. We fucked up by killing Yogg Saron back in WotLK, and we’ve been playing step by step into his plan. “The Maw”, I feel is Yogg Saron’s true form and essence transferred in the Shadowlands, the afterlife. I mean the things name is literally “The God of Death”. Icecrown is an anchor to the Shadowlands? There’s an entire citadel made of the fuckers blood where THE MAW is. The last boss of Shadowlands is Yogg Saron, and next expac is void themed, I assure you. I hope you see this Pyromancer, because by god, I want you to see the pattern as I do.

    though i agree with the majority of the speculation and stuff, its clearly Rezan, on rastakhan, i mean, him and his daughter worshipped him as the loa of kings so it would make sense that the 'serpent' head looks much more closely to a rex head or dinosaur head in general. Also! That thing about Vectis, it clearly says in the dungeon guide that it was Ghuuns blood and some sort of plague experiment combined to create it. And also, if Hakkar was some sort of amalgamation of different creatures, then why do wind serpents exist? i mean, there is another wind serpent loa i believe, but the entire point of the 'children of the loa' in the dino cases is that their descendants take the form of the loa theyre born from, if it doesnt make sense why hakkar looks the way he does, i mean, it could be said the same way for bwonsamdi or muezala, theyre both troll-looking spirits of nature/death, And if the Loa, Wild Gods and August Celestials are infact the same entities (which its believed they are) then why would Freya or rather, whoever directly influenced the emerald dream AND shadowlands, create troll looking entities when (i dont believe at least) they were around at the time. I mean, sure they might be able to change their appearance, and if so, that clearly explains that hakkar is just unique looking, not so much that hes an experiment.

    • @rubrawolf

    A Loa, as I see it, is any being that gains enough reverence and devotees. By being revered and prayed to, it gains power; the more acolytes that a Loa has, the more powerful it becomes. That's why, the Loa in Nazmir--who have been forgotten--are very weak until the player character finds them new acolytes. So, it makes sense that Vol'jin becomes a Loa, since he has the reverence of his people.

    So...today i found out something quite weird and unsettling. I was just heading outside of the chamber of heart for a quick rare flight around silithus when i decided to check up on our lovely big ol sword fellow sticking out of the ground and the unsettling sounds coming from it still are creepy, but what's more creepy... is the fact that i managed to fly myself into the sword near the spots where a blood red energy, maybe anima? was being sucked, and it turned out that that part of the sword was not solid. Okay. Continuing downward inside the sword i managed to figure out that the huge empty eye socket looking things actually follow your character location, almost like an eye would. But that motion was only apparent when you were at a lower altitude than the eyesocket looking part of the sword. Makes it more unsettling since you realise that the bone or whichever material the sword has, is moving and that they both collide at the eye sockets. At the Coordinates 48 43, you could even go a bit lower than the ground level of Silithus allows. Along with the many crackling and odd glacier sounds echoing all around you. What's odd to me is that they designed the eye sockets to not be static, but to always face you, but you wouldnt notice that unless you pay very close attention or if you are behind them, which makes then move enough that you notice it much clearly. It sure looks like we sealed the wound but.. Azerite can still be seen around the ground of the blade, flowing upward toward the sky, not to mention what the bone fluid or objects that move are. Whatever energy we absorbed is now inside the artifacts, who knows what they will come to serve later, but we do know that Magni has been made a pawn, and we are following his voice, his plan of bringing Azeroth to the titan ways of thinking but perhaps Sargeras wanted to destroy her, or try to make her see the way she is thinking. A lot of concept art also shows the eye sockets on the sword having an eye, perhaps one on each side. It might be Sargeras's way of communicating outside of the seat of the pantheon. He sure does not look angry at the very very last moment before being transported to the seat, but scared, with his eyes wide open. Wikipedia also states that they are unsure about what the sword may have disturbed, or awoken...If Sargeras had a part in Argus and Argus had a part in the Shadowlands, Sargeras's sword looking much more like death and death knight esque than his usual fire garb. I have many more ideas but they will have to wait! P.S Wouldnt be surprised if Xal'atath used the dark blade of sargeras for some void shenigans in the future

    Hmm from what I can recall about Bwonsamdi is that he was described as being older than the Trolls themselves and The Other Side is described as His (Bwonsamdi's) domain. If there is one Loa I do trust it is Bwonsamdi, he is a trickster and very dangerous but I do believe that he will keep his word, it is said he has a soft spot for Talanji in particular and he does value balance over total death. Also considering he did value Vol'jin as his favorite, that does say something though Pyro, I do believe he is older than Mueh'zala and perhaps the oldest Loa, in the end this is my own speculation.

      Hard to tell because the face is flat. But I kinda think the teeth are wrong for Hakkar. There should be fangs. And it would make sense for the 'Loa of Kings' to have a prominent place on the king's crown.
      On the other hand, the blue feathers and red scales are very Hakkar, the shoulder plates could be serpent mouths, and Hakkar does have horns... but the horns on the headdress and bracers don't match Hakkar's horns or claws so much.
      It's possible that Hakkar was an earlier, more primal loa that got deposed, and the king's raiment is traditional garb handed down from that time. I can't think of any other reason why he would be venerated like that. Certainly the Zandalari don't worship Hakkar now, the ones we met in Stranglethorn/Zul'gurub seemed very perturbed that their wayward children, the Gurubashi, had reverted to Hakkar worship.

    • @rinkovt

    It would make some sense that Bwonsamdi would be 'God of the Dead' rather than 'God of Death'. He's not the reaper, he's the keeper.
    Or Rezan was just being poetic. He seemed the type to talk in grand phrases.
    Similarly, the descriptions of Mueh'zala in Zul'Farrak could have been basically euphemisms and metaphor, oblique titles so that he doesn't turn his attentions to them. Kinda like 'He Who Must Not Be Named' from Harry Potter.

  • @ReaverInsane
    @ReaverInsane 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think Sylv will end up being Illidan 2.0 - She's bad all the way to the core - She knows what Death really is and she is trying to climb the ranks in the Shadowlands.
    That being said, think you're wrong about the Mueh'zala/Bwonsamdi connection -
    Bwons place is to make sure the souls that go through his connection are strong, His bargains and his ability to bring people back means that he has a fair bit of control over death/At least on par with the spirit healers.
    Mueh'zala was the leader of the 'Troll area' in the Shadowlands, same as the Venthir/Kyrian etc. But when the Jailor took control Mueh'zala lost a lot of power, because the souls are now going to the Maw instead of to Mueh'zala.
    I think Mueh'zala and Bwon are still working together. Hope you read this

  • @thomasthalberg92
    @thomasthalberg92 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Pyro (and people in the comment section), I wanted to point out a small detail that I came across in Zul'Farrak, on Classic WoW
    There is a tablet describing Mueh'zala as: The Night's friend, God of Death, Father of Sleep, Son of Time.
    The last bit is quite interesting... because as we know it, the Lord of Time, Master of Time and Highfather is Aman'thul...
    Now, you may be thinking, why would "death" be born of "time" ? Well... it's pretty logical actually. If Aman'thul literally engineered time and the passing of time (aka, life progression, aging, decay), that all ends up in Death at some point... as time flows. Only after Time starts existing, will the first Death occur... so lore-wise as well as logical wise, Death is literally born of Time ("The Son of Time).
    Just gonna leave this here, hope you like my food-for-thought, cheers !

    I'm definitely interested to see the relationship geometry between Bwonsamdi, Muehzala, and Hakkar. Do they have a succession of power to one another or are their domains distinct enough to have all existed simultaneously? If there was a succession I would think it would be Hakkar > Mueh'zala > Bwonsamdi, because if you look at real life mythology our gods tend to get more callous and vengeful the farther back you go. The God of the Old Testament being a MUCH harsher entity than the God of the New Testament to take the most mainstream example.

    • @ajunta2270
      @ajunta2270 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually a modern myth; The God of the New Testament is the same as the one in the Old Testament, upholding the same principles of love/justice/retribution/forgiveness/holiness and others. In fact, Jesus reprimanded the pharisees for replacing some of the (you could say harsh) divine commandments received by Moses at Mount Sinai with man-made laws (which were a lot more forgiving).
      Back on topic though, do we have any notion on which of these (Hakkar/Mueh'zala/Bwonsamdi) is older/the oldest though?

    One other idea that I think you might have missed in terms of who might be able to become the Loa of Death.
    We know Sylvanus is working with Muazella and she wants Bwonsamedi dead but is she playing both sides for a very deceptive end game.
    One person comes to mind - Helya who we know is still around and Sylvanus had extensive dealings with what’s to say they didn’t hatch a plan knowing that Sylvanus was working with the Jailer back then and likely knew about Muazella etc. that she wanted to cause the rift to open to shadowlands either by overloading it with so many dead and in the end she used the one thing linked to it directly and countless souls and legions of undead. The helm of dominance to shatter the veil and put the plan in to action for us to kill Muazella while her toy boy Nalthanos took care of Bwonsamedi so she could have them replaced with someone friendly to her needs Helya who she has an end game bargain with

    I don't know that I agree with the notion that the Naaru are Lightlords, unless you want to make an argument that there are tiers of Naaru, and there then are Naaru of a tier so high that they cannot enter the physical universe. If we go by the idea that the Light and the Void are opposites then the Naaru would be the Light equivalent of Old Gods, and even then Naaru have been shown to fall to the Void, Old Gods have not been shown to fall to the Light. For Naaru to be Lightlords they would have to also not be able to enter and interact with the physical universe, but they can.
    I believe that the Naaru are the Light's agents in the physical universe in much the same way that the Old Gods are the Void's.

So with that in mind do we also have Deathlords, Lifelords. Disorderlords then as well. This would align with a conept of a Pantheon concept which controlled each realm and the titans then took over, controlled or imprisoned these entities and then usurped their powers for their own use?
      Interesting idea when you think about it - I mean is the Loa of Death imprisoned in the Maw by none other than lets say Argus and with Argus now removed his shackles have been removed enabling him to start to manipulate things like the Machine of Death?

    • @ThomasWarhammer
      @ThomasWarhammer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nazuul Possible, but seeing as the powers of Life, Death, Order and Disorder were splintes of the Light and Void they might not follow the same rules. So they might only have 'agent' level beings as the highest embodiments of their respective cosmic elements.

    Based on Haitain creole myth and other nations that practice voodooism, Baron Samedi (our Bwondsamdi) is the ferryman that carries people to the other side. Interestingly, as I was listening to this and looking at the meaning of loas in real life, it seems that this "Guede", the family of loas that represent the power of death, t is being borrowed for the basis of the Shadowlands/ Dark Pantheon if you will. I feel like Slyvanas may be given an arc of redemption but she may become "Maman Brigitte" the consort to Bardon Samedi or the consort to death.

    Devilsaur, not wind serpent. It's Rezan. That pale-striped red scaled skin Rastakhan wears as a skirt and cloak is even a devilsaur skin pattern, tameable by hunters. Hakkar has no stripes. The model of beastly face on Rastakhan's hat even bears the facial markings of a devilsaur and Rezan. Hakkar didn't have those either, but does have very prominent fangs. None of the beast skulls Rastakhan wears has prominent fangs, just jagged devilsaur-ish teeth. Which leaves .. blue feathers. Since Hakkar's eyes are BLUE, not RED, that one also doesn't work.

    So Mueh'zala is Thanatos and Bwamsamdi ("Baron Samdi") is Hades? Okay, I mean Hades is the King of the Underworld, but Thanatos works FOR Hades. Then there's also the interpretation that Hades is a sad boi that loves his wife, Persephone/Kore ("bringing death"/"maiden"), and his dog, Cerberus ("spotted/speckled"), so take that as you will. (I may have also been reading too much 'Lore of Olympus', but it's a pretty good webcomic series so I don't regret it.)
