I worked In the caravan industry for 22 years and replaced Seaflo and Shurflo pumps all the time due to issues. The pumps that never had to be replaced were all flojet brand pumps In all those years I only ever replaced 1 flojet pump and it was due to completely improper installation and it had still lasted 5 years longer than it should have
Expect the pressure switch to fail. It always does as it's AC and can't handle DC arcing, so it burns out. Good luck trying to replace it too....I gave up after two Seaflows and will never buy another.
As I’m watching I have to comment on you not screwing down the bottom two. That extra vibration will cause wear on the pump. A proper install nets a long life.
Also did you use an in-line fuse? At the end your music was drowning out what you were saying. Great video all in all sir. I got same pump and only watched your video because it said “Don’t” and I’m like yes DO! This pump is amazing!
@@livingproof9622 Good luck with the longevity of that. Yes it was fused and yes it was screwed at the bottom before I started the video. I’ve also had people comment about the fact that it was mounted on its side which is absolutely irrelevant. The contacts completely burned up in it, melted the housing and caused the pump to run continuously draining out all my freshwater in the Bahamas. You get what you pay for.
This is a very handy tip, especially if you don't want to over-pressure your pipes in an old RV which expects only 35 psi. A small leak may stop when over-pressure is reduced. That pump is set for 55 psi, at least thats what it says it can push on the box. Maybe check the docs to see if it's set lower from the factory. Generally, I read that there's a middle screw between two switch case holding screws. Some are inside I gather. They may work counterclockwise to reduce pressure, I'm not sure so check.
Don’t take this wrong, but ditch the music at the end of the video. I can’t hear what you say. Any issues with the pump since you installed it? Specially the wire connections on the pump?
I have absolutely no problem with constructive criticism although I can't go back and edit the video now. The pump has worked flawlessly since being installed. No problems with the wiring whatsoever. Thanks for watching and commenting.
SeaFlo pump for my boat A/C worked great for about 6 months. Stopped working. Try to contact SeaFlo but that was useless. Finally an email saying I was contacting BBB got a reply. They are trying to tell me the warranty is only valid if purchased from factory (in China) What a crock. They wanted me to send them the motor. It came back a few months later as is, no paperwork or explanation. Their general manager Frank said he found fishing line in the motor and the shaft was sheared. The first thing I did was check for debris when it stopped working. There is a water filter before the pump and fishing line could not get through that. The magnetic motor does NOT have a shaft turning the impeller. Don't believe Seaflo or their warranty. The general manager and the so called National Sales Manager are blowing smoke. They change the rules to fit the situation.
I spoke to them at the Annapolis show this year and was very surprised with their pricing. I've been meaning to order one since. Look forward to a longer term review.
On our crossing from Miami to the Bahamas the problem everyone else spoke about happened to us. The pressure contactor shorted and we’ve lost most of the freshwater we went with us. Lucky the boat didn’t burn down it is so crusty. DO NOT buy anything from Seaflow.
I don't understand how you lost all your fresh water from a faulty pressure switch. The pump might run longer which increases the pressure. Did something burst downstream from the pump as a result? Short of that, or a small leak in your system somewhere that became a big one, this doesn't make a lot of sense. I noticed you installed the pump in a pretty wet environment. Not sure if you have standard shaft seals or not but if you do then some water will stay in your bilge, which is incredibly corrosive. Your bracket and pump will probably not survive this without some extra protection.
I like a quiet pump but not so quiet that you can't tell when it's running. You can just hear this one when it comes on so it I don't require any other indicator but thanks for the suggestion.
@@randyanderson2124 when I had to replace the mount I got it off of eBay. I believe they have the switch also. After it burned up I threw it out and bought a sure flow.
After 2 years The only problem I’ve had was the mount deteriorated to the point pump fell off. I emailed the company and it was approximately two months before I got a reply apologizing for the delay and asking for a address to send a replacement pump. No other issues with the wiring or functionality of the pump so far. I was a little pissed off that it took so long for them to resolve the issue and the fact there is no direct contact number just an email address.
Less than 6 months in my motorhome and about 21 hours of total use, it just stopped working. Motor seized up. It took days and many phone calls to the company about ware that work and the ansi got was a very sharp and bold " ware that won't cover that because YOU installed it" . Beware of this BS system.
Hi. I'm interested in a seaflow pump as well and I have also been reading bad reviews about the pressure switch. Can you kindly provide feedback on the pressure switch? Did you have any issues with it? Would you recommend the product?
It’s been installed and used daily for a few years now. We can run with someone in the shower and turn on the galley sink and never noticed a drop in pressure. Not generally more than one or two people on the boat so we’ve never tried three at one time but for the money I would highly recommend this pump.
I guess it’s because we’re doing the best we can. Sorry that you don’t like it but there’s no reason to leave rude comments. Most videos on here are made by normal people just trying to share an experience or information at no cost to you and a hell of a lot of work, time and money for us. Adding music enhances the video but like I said we are not professionals so you shouldn’t judge if it doesn’t come out like something you would see on regular television. You should try to make one and you’ll see how muck work it is to come up with something halfass.
@@SVWildHare Believe it or not I was not trying to be rude, I love to watch this type of video, I think they are very informative, It is just such a shame that so many people play music over the top of the commentary, making it difficult to hear what you are saying, If you are giving important info, or specs about a product, Please let us hear it, or there is no point. Have you never been in a cinema or theater trying to watch, and had someone in front or behind you talking? That is what it is like. Sorry if I offened, but yours was the 3rd in a row, that it happened, and it just got to me.
You wouldn’t believe some of the hateful comments I get just because someone doesn’t like someone I said or did in one of MY videos. Like I own the something. Your not the first person to mention the music in this video. I’m unable to fix it after it’s published or I’d be happy to. Thanks for the comment and when I start posting again I’ll do a better job with the sound. Best wishes.
@Peter Crane - I agree, it's very distracting. Contrary to popular belief it doesn't enhance the video either. It's not necessary and a lot less post production work trying to add it to the video. Good content doesn't need enhancing and this channel makes good content.
Is it me.or a bit of common sense.if the wire is moving does mot mean the connection is a problem.just stick the wire to the body with a bit of .ie. silicone.stop it moving.

True. Top connector is loose and needed to solder it. Also switch on top failed me. Others have same switch problem on YT.

Did you turn the screw a little out? then it stops pumping directly when you turn of the water. The screw is under the switch sometimes.

Why does the description say DON'T BUY???? You gave a good review???
Like it says below the video in the description after a couple of years it damn near burnt my boat down.
Very short-lived, only 2 years old. The manufacturer does not accept warranty service. Membranes hardened, water leaked, bearings rusted.
its because seaflo were/are using AC switch in a DC motor, this is why you get the arcing...just get the correct switch.
Replaced with a SureFlo and sold the boat but thanks.
Any idea where to get a switch? Tried 3 to get info from them with no response.

Pressure switch is just for restart and shut off psi. The amps is important. No matter volts
Tons of bad reviews on this pump. Not only does it fail early, the company wont warranty it or even respond to people.

@@SVWildHare Good to know - thx!
It’s true, they have been really hard to reach and also have been ignoring me, had my pump for a year and they ghosted when I wanted to warranty
Hi, do you use an accullumator for shower and galley sink or just the pump?
Just the pump. I understand the advantages I just don’t have the space to add one. According to SeaFlo it’s not needed with this pump.

If you read the description, this was an old video I posted before it almost burned my boat down.
@@SVWildHare Okay are you sure it wasn't your wiring to look pretty shitty🤣
Mine runs constantly even though taps are off, i could have a air leak some where,??
Either have a leak or the contacts are bad. You should be able to tell if it’s building pressure or not.
Hi. I'm interested in a seaflow pump as well and I have also been reading bad reviews about the pressure switch. Can you kindly provide feedback on the pressure switch? Did you have any issues with it? Would you recommend the product?
I've been using it without ant trouble for more than 2 1/2 years now. Zero prolens. Id certainly recommend it. Thanks. .
@@SVWildHare Thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it.
hi, what kind of water pressure do you get from the pump?

Not generally more than one or two people on the boat so we’ve never tried three at one time but for the money I would highly recommend this pump.
I was told by the guy who sold my van that shureflo is a knock off of seaflo
It's the other way around. Shureflo is a reputable brand. I own several.
Bought the 55 series like this. Broke down 3 times in one year. Broke down again. Can't get parts for it. Piece of junk.
Good job keep it up
Thanks
What's the story with the loose wire?
Pump is still in there and running great. Absolutely no complaints. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again loose wire or not.

That doesn't make the connection tight. More than likely it's a lack of surface area problem, small contact.
