This was a very helpful video. Thank you so much for sharing. Way better than the paint stir sticks with the stain on them at my local Dixie belle store!
Hi there! I really enjoyed this comparison video of the various gel stain options available. Thank you so much! Did you use pine wood for this particular staining demonstration? Looking forward to more of your videos. Just subscribed. 😊
My floors are manufactured wood grain floors that are espresso with a bit of red in them. They are too dark and red for my taste. I am thinking to lightly sand with a fine grit and then whitewash. I am concerned that they may look pink. I am not a grey fan, but maybe the grey would cut the red coming through. Thoughts?
Are they real wood? If not, I don't know if they will sand down. The red will come through if they are real wood so you would want to put on a blocker before staining so that red doesn't pop through. I have never heard of sanding down floors that aren't real wood so I am not sure.
@mycreativedays I watched some vids of professional floor restorers and it can be done if they are deep enough for a light sanding and then refinished. I am going to experiment in a small bathroom. If it is a fail, I will lay peal and stick tile over the top anyway. I will post my results! We shall see what happens! A bit risky. Spice of life!
I am not sure. Every piece will be different. I always tell people to try it on a tiny area that is in an area no one would see to find out how it will look.
Not sure what you are asking. If you want to change the color of something, you should sand it first. If you are looking to restore the wood, I would recommend restor-a-finish
helpful hints: do your prep before final video, have a helper to hand the can to after demonstration, tops can be tapped down After video is complete, have your stir sticks at hand and please have a table that is closer to the length of the board - the board was rocking and that distracts from your presentation.
Those are great hints if that works for you. I do this on my own. I don't have a helper and my videos are raw and real. You can find other videos that are professionally staged and edited to look like a TV show if that is what you are looking for. Thank you!
Ty I so needed this . I can’t decide . ❤
You're welcome! They are all pretty,. Just depends on the look you want.

It was a pine board. So happy you are here!
@@mycreativedays Awesome! Thanks a bunch. Glad to be here as well. 🥰
I am thinking of staining my dining table in walnut. Would you recommend a top coat?
For sure. Just because a dining room table gets a lot of use and you will be cleaning it a lot.
@@mycreativedays thank you so much

Would gel stain work to lighten a wall unit update / pottery barn look
I am not sure. Every piece will be different. I always tell people to try it on a tiny area that is in an area no one would see to find out how it will look.
Will a lighter gel stain cover a darker finish ?
