So...I'm sure this will get really interesting really fast :p - Let me know what you think about both programs based on their Landscaping Tool features!
For me the abilities of creating a costume materials in twinmotion is enough to make the decisions "twinmotion is the way to go for me" Also in lumion the only interior light than can cast a shadow is spot light but in twinmotion almost all the light options cast a shadow this is a really important point specifically if you do interior rendering, beside that i twinmotion there is user folder it's really handy when I can save my objects in it and use them later for example I use some car models I bought from epic store and their quality is perfect I rather use these models instead using the native library which is very low poly bad quality objects. There are more features in twinmotion I like more than lumion but to be fare the quality of lumion rendering is little bit better that's because it's not 100% real time rendering there are backing during exporting, any way in Q4 this year the new twinmotion will release and it will use ray traysing most probably only by RTX cards and in their presentation the result was wonderful. Ps: I dont think they will make it subscription or at lease the will make option for one time purchase because base on their promises they will give us Archicad users who bought 23 version a free copy.
Hi Justin Thanks for the videos and tutorials you share daily, they're really helpful. I regularly followed your rendering essentials videos till a little while back when you simply started to post tutorials only on twinmotion. I believe there are a great number of lumion users who miss your lumion tutorials. Also, I firmly believe Lumion will edge out ray tracing programs like vray in the near future on account of its quality and speed which keeps improving with each new version of lumion. Frankly, we would be really grateful if you could do more tutorials on lumion than what you are currently doing on twinmotion... Thanks.
I did a lot of Twinmotion tutorials all at once when the program was first acquired by Epic and made free so that I'd have a library of tutorials for all the new users. In the next week or two I'll be moving back towards a mix of program tutorials. I'm not promising to focus on any one program more than another, but Lumion tutorials are coming back shortly
much needed video, thank you for taking the time to make it. for me personally lumion is still superior in landscaping and exterior (sunny) shots , the opposite for interior and night lighting . i won't dwell into the object libraries since you are going to cover that in other videos , but i like how you can easily change and switch the pose of character in twin-motion , also the clay-render effect is really helpful to switch all your characters into simple silhouette architectural figures .
Really like this comparative style video hope this turns out into a series. Great work Justin, i wouldn't be at the level I am right now in my archviz projects without your tutorials.
Let's wait for the Epic version of Twinmotion coming in November. For what I've seen in the world premiere it's going to be TRULY EPIC! Btw, it'g going to remain free for all licensed Archicad users. Amazing!
I agree there should be some great new features - that said, I'm wondering if the improvements will have more to do with interoperability with Unreal than changes to the Twinmotion interface - it almost seems like they want to use Twinmotion as a "prep" program for import into Unreal - not that that would be a bad thing. Should be really cool!
Justin any new VRay , Enscape videos... Are you going to do a general overview of Architectural visualization, new technology available... you did a video like this in the past, something like sketch up this week playlist.
Possibly - I'd have to figure out a format for this kind of video - there are some things I'd like to talk about but I'm not sure how this video would look quite yet
I figured that you weren't going to be doing them forever and I definitely appreciate the ones that you have posted. You're right, there are not many out there and that's why I am bumming out about you moving on.
@@TheRenderingEssentials back when it was not the year that defined the version. Like in TwinMotion 3. Check this video... 7:30 mark... look the options to define materials... th-cam.com/video/W_t3wPVyBHo/w-d-xo.html I don´t even remember if the new TwinMotion still has it, but back then, you could set different scales for diffuse, reflection, transparency and bump maps... allowing you for example to create a color map for a wall, then another map for the bump (small, as the bump might repeat) then another map for reflection and make it very large for a building for example, so the reflection won´t repeat. Lumion doesn´t have this. So if you want a reflection map 10x10 meters in size to show some rain stains in a big wall, you will have to do a diffuse map in high resolution also portraying 10x10 meters... really wasteful of memory.
@@rogeriopenna9014 You can still do that in TM2019. Color, Reflection, Metallicness, Bump, Glow, all have its function to load an image as texture. Just click the small "More" button at the lower right corner of those big buttons.
Lumion give more working space on the other hand twinmotion cover that space with icon & yes that gizmos option is better than go on tab and tab it in lumion.. Thank for your review. Dude. 👍
Justin - Thanks for another killer video man. I have used Lumion for years and Twinmotion, I have to say is, a little faster to throw together a visualization for someone. Lumion, however, is more realistic and offers more control. Lumion 9.5 apparently offers far more objects than Twinmotion does and has more options for environmental tools. I would have to disagree with you in this video regarding moving object. I find it far easier to move objects in Lumion than Twinmotion, however the snap to ground reality when moving objects gets annoying in Lumion, I am not sure if you can turn that feature off. Keep up the awesome tutorials Justin. I'd like to see a Sketchup to Artlantis video if you don't have one already!
What do you think makes Twinmotion faster for your quick visualizations? Lol - nothing wrong with disagreeing on the movement - for some reason I find the RGB gizmo easier to use than Lumion's tools, but that doesn't mean that's the case for everyone ;p - I've never used Artlantis before - might have to look into it...
@@TheRenderingEssentials I think Twinmotion was faster to find objects withit's library. The first model I opened in Twinmotion I was able to switch materials, find lights and object instantly. It's more intuitive, but you are right about Lumion feeling more "open" I don't like the RGB gizmo as it was difficult for me to place lighting and aim the cones on objects. It just was not as intuitive or have the feedback that Lumion had. Maybe our difference is that I am on a Mac 5,1 Xeon 3.34ghz 6-core / 32 gb ram running an Nvidia Titan XP in Mac OS 10.12.6. Windows drivers use the Titan far better as we all know. That's what I attribute the better feel in Lumion to, (Over TM in Mac os) even tho I am running Windows 10 in Bootcamp. Yeah....I know. Not ideal. I am just trying settle on the best pipeline for an all Mac render rig. I still prefer Keyshot for realism over both TM and Lumion, but I want to use my GPU for rendering. I think Artlantis and TM are related to the same drunk uncle. I did not care for the gizmo in Artlantis either and had a hard time placing textures on my first look in Artlantis. I love your channel Justin. You rock.
Lol - Running it in Windows in Bootcamp on a Mac might lead to a different experience for sure ;p - that said, I'm just trying to get a feel for what people like and don't like - I get asked a lot which is better, and my answer is pretty much always "It depends on what you like and need in a renderer"
I've seen this term a couple different places, but it doesn't seem to be the standard nomenclature either. I'd like to use Twinmotion's nomenclature, but all of their knowledgebase was wiped out when Epic acquired them and changed their website - super frustrating

Interesting - I could see what you're talking about with the interior and exterior - we'll get into the rest in future videos - thanks! :)
One big difference is that lumion doesn’t work on macs. I think lumion has better quality renders. But since I’m on a Mac it’s no option.
Ooh - this is a solid point - I'll have to make sure to bring this up in a future video... Thanks! :)

Really glad you're liking them! :)
If you import height map in TwinMotion they are very abrupt and not look real while in Lumion they appear really smooth like in UE4
Interesting - you've tested with the same height map in both?

Right now I use SketchUp

complete. So I put a few videos up to show what i've got so far, and i'm hoping that soone will take the ti to watch them, let
Which better software twinmotion or lumion .plz reply me
You're literally in a video in a playlist comparing the two - full playlist here - th-cam.com/video/p-R2LqcGRAY/w-d-xo.html
You can control how the water moves in twin Motion...
By animating the material only - there aren't options for waves, choppiness, wind direction, etc unless you're seeing something I'm not
Limitations are what makes a software light and straightforward.
I smell a transition from Twinmotion videos to Lumion coming right around the corner!
Lol - I wasn't just going to do Twinmotion videos forever, but there weren't many out there, so I made some :)

TwinMotion had many more options in older versions. They simplified it later. Imho, a bad move.
How many versions ago?

I'll bet this change happened when they switched the rendering engine over to Unreal Engine - probably some changes occurred at that point
