    "I'm not a geologist"
Being a lawyer, playwright, novelist, poet, essayist, columnist, physician, psychiatrist, bioethicist, tour guide, and college professor makes this statement very ironic.

Fascinating. Thank you for sharing the ethical question of parents deciding the life/death of a severely disabled child. Who do you think would be ethically suited to make that decision?
This may sound sarcastic but it's not. What part of a community would best determine the ifants' life? On what would it be based? Ratio of pain to joy? Usefulness or dependence?

That "benefit" could just be apathy. The problem is consent. I don't think fluoride should be in the drinking water. But who the hell drinks drinking water these days anyway? Also you said, "Very Painfully". You probably meant painlessly, but I think that might have been a Freudian Slip. Perhaps not. You're the psychologist here. But could have easily edited this, and you didn't. This makes me wonder about your judgement, and whether you should even make these kinds of calls on the behalf of others. You're a smart guy, but I think you may be over thinking this. You say you have Libertarian leanings, then why would you want to make decision for someone else anymore than you would want someone making decisions for you. If you're not worried about keeping life going why are you worried about their dental health? Maybe you're under thinking this after all.

T Zero i agree. there were a few points that were questionable or let us say, surprising. i have to listen again. he IS brilliant, his mind moves fast but, that does not mean he shouldn’t slow down...thoroughly stimulating

Now I'm wondering when "big dentistry" is going to lobby and have flouride removed from the drinking water?

parents aren’t able to choose the sexual orientation of their child are they? Or have I missed some information

He's referring to genetic alteration of the embryo, which is beginning to happen more and more now. People are able to choose the color of the babies eyes, the sex, etc.
