  • In this video I demonstrate how to create a lush ambient pad sound with a very wide stereo image, making use of many patching possibilities with the Moog Matriarch.

    2:20 - I love that you only patched the first two oscillators to the left filter and simply turned them down to only receive the other two oscillators in the right filter. Brilliant!

    Wonderfully explained and executed! You're really putting those utility sections through their paces, and that's why they're there! I'm going to be revisiting this one a lot, and checking out the rest of your channel. Thank you!

    Great patch! Thanks for sharing this! I prefered plugging osc 1 and 3 into the mult and letting 2 and 4 run through the mixer. Because of how it distributes the voices, I felt like it created a more balanced stereo field.

    i am really confused... why is the Matriarch soooo affordable?.. and NOT a million dollars like all other Moogs? was it's production outsourced to Behringer?

      Truth is, the Matriarch has an architecture of a mono synth, with the addition of its paraphonic capabilities, lot of modular patch points, and a delay module. When compared to other recent mono semi-modular synths from Moog (Grandmother, Mother 32, Subh…) which are all at or below the $1k mark, the pricing on the Matriarch does make sense!
      Let’s just be glad that it exists, that it is somewhat affordable and that we can own what we will be remembered as one of Moog’s best synth 🎹 (if only Bob Moog could’ve seen it!)

    Thank you Rishabh - your videos are fantastic. Question: When I combine oscillators 1 and 2 into the mult, I get unpredictable intervals from the first note I play (the first note is somehow triggering the first two voices, but one is a note I can't control, or sometimes the first two oscillators are the same note even though I'm playing separate notes on the keyboard). This happens both with and without anything being patched out of the mult. VCA Mode is set to AMP ENV, and it's in 4-voice Paraphonic mode.

    Hey Rishbah, for your oscillator panning tip, it's not working for me. Whenever I have my Matriarch wired like that, the first key I press triggers Oscillator 1 and 2 together. When I unplug these wires, it goes back to the normal paraphonic mode I have on, where each key only triggers 1 oscillator.
    Is this a bug or did I make a mistake and miss something?

    Hello Rishabh
    I have a question about using the mult as a mixer that I would really appreciate if you had any information on.
    I have seen you use it in patches to mix two waveforms.
    I was wondering if you can mix three waveforms and send it to one destination?
    Can you mix audio and cv signals?
    These are things I would like to experiment but am worried I could damage my synthesizer or the components.
    If you have any tips or advice regarding mixing more than two waveforms using the mult, or mixing audio and cv signals using the mult, I would be happy to hear it
    Thanks again for the great sound design videos! :)

    • @rishabhrajan
      @rishabhrajan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you can absolutely do that. Nothing will be damaged. The only thing that can be damaged are speakers and your ears. So be careful what you send to the output!

    Lol the blue prints for this pad come in the box, it’s called swirling... something. Buy a matriarch and you’ll get this patch

    • @gordon_hughes
      @gordon_hughes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be thinking of "Swirling Stereo". It uses 6 patch cables and all four VCOs are set to Narrow Pulse. This uses 11 cables and all four VCOs are set to Sawtooth.
