I like your expression deep from the inside when you appreciate the food that you're eating. It makes the show so bright, down to earth and alive. Salt with star fruit makes it less sour. That bryani is so appetizing, mouth watering. Farata is a favorite with all Mauritian people; farata and chicken curry is the ideal meal in cyclonic weather.
@@BryanDiscoversWorld When the star fruit is ripe it turns yellow and quite palatable, tasting sort of sweet and sour at the same time. The professional, promotional videos on Mauritius are great but are all a bit too clinical and cliched. They are not lively, they do not breathe but your amateur videos are so user-friendly, so people orientated. It's raining here in Kingswood, NSW and will do for a few days but I hope you're enjoying the radiant sun of Mauritius.
No truer words, Bryan!! I watch your shows late at night and all of a sudden I am hungry and not just any snack will do, I want what you're having usually ;)
@@BryanDiscoversWorld Hi Bryan, one suggestion to you as a future UTube upload - Seafood of Mauritius including fish curry. You will be amazed but can also be pricey!!
Our Indian food here is similar to the Mauritian food. Our Paratha is different to their Farata, but the taste might be similar. Dhalpuri is an all time favourite. Curried chick peas is very prominent in Indian food as are curried duck and curried goat. Mark Weins had multiple videos on our foods last year. Pay us a visit. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Great video to you both! Excellent coverage and enjoyed the subtle addition of chilli sauce. Having Mauritian heritage and Trinidadian roots, the foods are very similar in taste. However the curry flavour is layered when compared to Trinidad. The spicy aspect goes to Trinidad. I tried the deer in Mauritius, I much prefer Trinidad's curried goat. The gato pimia, I absolutely heavenly. Mauritius also has a barra similar to doubles, just thinner and less greasy. So much more to taste.
I suggest some very traditional mauritian food which may not be very popular with westerners 1. Brede mouroung 2. Bouillon Cresson 3. La daube Poisson 4. Rougaille Camaron 5. Cari Jacques 6. Chachini Pipangaille 7. Chachini arouille 8. Margose frites 9. Achards sourun 10. Achard bilainbille
Hello Bryan, the food on that list are not really street food but home made dishes, you need to meet ordinary people and ask their grandmothers to make these delicacies, if you offer a financial contribution they will usually be delighted to cook these for you. In local fishing villages you may even find weird delicacies like Stonefish, Eel, Sea urchin and edible shellfish, all of which I have enjoyed in Mauritius.
In my college days in Mauritius pineapple slice with chili sauce were a favorite among most of us. That top 10 chart is very factual. Bhajia and chili cakes are very fitting on cold winter days. What's the difference between Farata and Roti? Lock in Briyani for me.
All very good - Hard to pick No 1 - maybe, maybe for me it will be dholl purri then again I love gateau piment and Halim and bryani and badjah, mine bouillis - :) - the whole lot...... - so hard to choose - embarras du choix!! :)
Love your choices Riki, another top 10 of mine. Pearona, Cidona, Malta guiness, Dahi, ice cold lemon juice, Tamarin juice Yop, Alouda, Sugar cane juice, Coconut water 🍺
This win for Farata over Dal puri was more controversial than Verstappen winning the F1 in the last lap after the safety car. Bryan is the local Michael Masi
Hello bryan. All the food look extremely mouth-watering and yummy. 😋😍 Can you please share the address of the farata spot? I would like to try them. 😋😋😋
My husband would probably like Halim, he likes lamb/muttin (he's Australian) I will pass. I do love cilantro but no on lamb across the board. I have tried it mixed with other stuff, and nope, because I can still taste it. The Noodles mmm !!! I do want to try fruit done like that, we do not do that here. I would try it. This was a great video. I recognized each clip but one.

I see that you have featured halim in this video. My recollection of having halim for the first time was in 1968 ! And I can still taste it !
I remember my first halim, 2020, I wish I had tried it sooner
