    @ImpactWorshipMusic Hahaha...Good ear! That's the key to a phat sound. It's just simply a patch with a Saw sound to it, to add some foundation. It's custom as well. I can upload my patches to my description so you guys can download them if that's cool.

    MIDI out of the Motif to the MIDI in to the Korg. Use the MIDI Through to your Soundcard for your laptop. The Motif will control the Korg and the Laptop. To turn the MIDI off, I switch the Motif to USB if I only want to play the Motif as a single sound.

    I have a pretty cool collection of synths in my studio setup...Mostly I use software synths (for film scoring etc) But as far as my keyboards are concerned I have all genres covered. To start off I have an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 which is my master controller. But everything is as follows:
    1) Keystation Pro 88 (aforementioned)
    2) Yamaha DX7
    3) Yamaha DX7s
    4) Behringer Deep Mind 12
    5) Novation MiniNova
    6) Ensoniq Sq1+
    7) Yamaha EX5
    8) Behringer Model D
    9) Behringer K-2
    But like I said, for all of my movie type scores, orchestral production, etc I use mostly VSTi's My goto for all of my string libraries is a company known as 8DIO. They are an absolute game changer. They are so awesome!

    Hey there Jamal... is there a video showing us how to load the samples into the Motif ES?

  • @GospelMusicians
    @GospelMusicians  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Krazie316 If you have a Yamaha Motif you can use the Master Mode to split the keyboard by channel. I just did my new Organ DVD using the VB3 totally. I used a top, bottom, and foot pedals all on different MIDI channels 1-3. So the key is to use the Master Mode on the Motif to split the keyboard per channel!

  • @GospelMusicians
    @GospelMusicians  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @gustavimprov MIDI Thru allows you to daisy chain so that you can play a few different synths at the same time. If you go MIDI in to the computer, you have to somehow pass that signal to your other synths and all of the soundcards only have a MIDI Out and not a MIDI thru. Not sure if Mainstage has an automatic MIDI thru, but it's just better to keep the computer as the last point of your MIDI chain.

    Sweet setup, I don't have a laptop right now so I haul my PC tower back and forth to and from Church with reason and some sweet VST's I rum through fruity loops.
    I use the native Instruments Elektrik Piano combined with Scarbee Vintage keyboard Effects. then I Use Native Instruments B4 II and turn off the rotary and vibrato and use the VB3's rotary creating a beautiful and robust organ sound moving major air in the church speakers. I now have the heavy Alienware tower so it's harder to bring

  • @Krazie316
    @Krazie316 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GospelMusicians I would use the VB3 alone but I haven't figured out how to split the left of the keyboard to use the foot pedals instead of the organ.
    You can set B4 II into a regular channel and take VB3fx (comes with VB3 as a vst effect) and load it in the mixer in the B4 II's (or main) channel effects slot.
    It would probably be better to show instead of explain, lol. I do want to see what the VB3 can do alone though NI B4 II has a terrible rotary sound but nice other features.

    @oymeit Yea me and Jermaine Griggs are cool. We always partner on stuff. Not sure what kind of stand that is, but make sure it has the double legs. All the keyboard stands have a weight rating, so just make sure it's over 120 lbs.

    @Antisatan7771 no most people that use laptops in their live setups are probably using the for backing tracks (tracks that they do BEFORE the gig to make them sound phat) or they could also be triggering sounds from the laptop from VSTs etc...

  • @GospelMusicians
    @GospelMusicians  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Krazie316 Why do you even use the B4 II...haha! That VB3 is the sickest. Are you saying that you are able to use the B4 II through the VB3 Rotary effect? How in the world do you do that? You must do a side-chain type of deal?

    I just picked 1 up on Ebay w/max RAM for $728. (arrived today) That included shipping. ($78) The seller has several more EX5 & EX5R (rack mount) from $550 (EX5R) to $850 (EX5 w/max RAM & SCSI expansion included). I'm telling you this because the seller exceeded expectations in EVERY way. If you're going to drop $500+, make sure it's a seller you can trust.
    About the EX5, I love it! I also have a Motif-6, which is basically a stripped down EX5. EX5 comes stock w/several analog modeling boards.

  • @poldidak
    @poldidak 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GospelMusicians I also got the K-Sounds PIano 2 (Kawai grand) sample set for my ES7 and love it! Only thing with the ES is the load time. I've got 512mB but only load in the 128mB sound set since it takes excruciatingly long to load from a USB stick and I can't find a larger Smart Media card than 128. Even that takes a while to load. You said you load in 400 some MB of piano into your ES8. That must take forever! Have you switched to using anything else for piano sounds?

    I read your article on motifator & I agree w/you. I don't know why synth makers have dropped FDSP, FM, AN1X modeling,VL Modeling, etc. But it seems like Korg has taken notice & the Kronos has multiple analog modeling engines. Anyway, you can buy expansion boards (like the PLg150-AN) for the Motif, but they come stock on the EX5. The EX5 is VERY similar to the Motif 6. Many of the patches have identical names & locations. But the EX5 has 2X polyphony & IMO, it sounds better then the Motif 6.

    Waddup Jamal,I've been checking you out a few times on youtube,I love your enthusiam,& playing. I am a huge Yamaha fan as well,& not just their keyboards. Louis Johnson demoed 6 bass guitars for Michael Jackson when they were working on "Billie Jean", Michael picked the Yamaha bass. The Yamaha SY99 & the EX7 became my dream, boards, until i bought the S80. I'm buying a Motif XF 8 early next year,That will be my center piece,along with my Triton pro & Roland Stage,"soon 2 be purchased" .

    @GospelMusicians Hell will probably freeze over before we get a board of that calibur. We have a cheapy Casio and I can't stand the way it sounds so hauling that heavy tower is, in the long run, worth it, lol. At least till I can come up on something and buy my own Motif

    Jamal I agree with you. I was running MainStage on my MacBook Pro in church last sunday, and all of a sudden, it was like Satan hit the sustain command at the worst time. I used to have the motif 6(1st gen) combined with a Roland xp 60 and for strings and atmosphere sounds an Roland JV 1080 module. everything via midi. controlling everything with the motif faders. Ive learned the power of this kind of setting not by choice LOL. I was doing keys , strings ,pads, bells even a guitar jajaja yeah believe it ...and bass at different songs or song parts. That was crazy! I really dont understand why keyboard players nowadays dont like this type of set up. If they really understand how powerful it is. Ive been thinking on doing a video about my set up for the longest so people can understand what they could do with at least 3 keyboards in church. There is a lot of midi configuration and outputs configuration with a bass amp & guitar amp...trust me a real spaghetti on cables. jajaja but it sounded amazing. LOL Good video btw

    I think you can add into the Motif ES an analogue expansion board if you can find one. I think it was based on the AN1X and there was another 3 expansion similar boards you could buy circa 2003-4. They fit into the top left hand side if the ES at the rear. I looked at the EX5 very nice sounds. I liked it more than the Korg Trinity.

    Hey brother Jamal I have One more question for you,I found the gospel musicians website,and once I get my affiliate business running,I will be back atcha for the 10,%. Commission negotiation,but I was wondering about a while back when the Yamaha workstation was newer and just more recently created new on the market,your flash cost for sale was$ 2,000 dollars,and now with a lot of bundles that you put together from your compilation of many different sounds that you are presently selling on the market for your flash download package,I see that your price for that recent flash download has a price that says $199.99 1 penny less than $200.00 dollars,my question is ,is $199.99 the present and current price for your flash download package?,or am I missunderstanding what I am seeing on the price,but hearing your price quote that you stated the price of at the end of your third video for $ 2000.00 instead of $199.99, because they are not matching,on the written price at $199.99 in your written price,and your quoted price at the end of your third video on the flash download package at $2000.00,Does the flash downloads package cost $199 00 or $2000.00 ?

I hope Im not too far off topic of the video but I noticed you were showcasen youre secret weapon...lol and it seems like you know youre boards.... well I got a question about a sound that I know is very common...Ive heard it in countless Rnb tunes. it was used in Janet Jackson's "would you mind" its the chorded synth sound. it sounds like a multi moog or a filtered talkbox. lol idk... if anyones readin this and has used this sound before plz let me know.
