When my best friend was engaged, I knew she was having second thoughts. Throughout the planning, I kept letting her know that was ok if she changed her mind. She felt there was something off about her fiance. An hour before the ceremony she had a panic attack, I told her I can have the car out front running and ready to go if she needs. But, she said, "Everyone is here and everything is paid for, I have to go through with it." I told her she didn't, but she got married anyway. 2 months into the marriage she found out her husband had a serious gambling problem and was over $80,000 in debt. Thankfully she was able to get the marriage annulled under the clause of "Marrying under false pretense," because he hid his addiction and major debt. The moral of the story, trust your gut and even if it is the day of the wedding, cancel if you aren't 100% sure you are doing the right thing.
It only applies to duress or fraud. Debt doesn’t apply to either. Fraud applies to: 1. Identity of the other party. 2. Or the nature of the ceremony. DURESS, means by blackmail, threat or another type of coercion. It might also apply to unlawful marriages such as underage, mother-son, uncle-niece, ect.
This depends which country this story took place in. In some countries, engagements are very serious business, causing financial stress for the marriage by not disclosing a huge debt beforehand couldbe brou ds for a divorce..
@@paulredinger5830 ... From what I was told, Fraud can and does also apply to anything financial. Since marriage means that a wife can now be responsible for any debt her husband has there is a distinct possibility that it could be considered fraud if he hid that debt from her. Especially if it is a community property state. His debt will now affect her credit rating. I think that the annulment might negate her responsibility toward his debt.😊
...unless you accidentally get knocked up before the decision has been made by both parties lol. Well, two kids, a house, 13 years together, and 7 years married... :) It worked out!
We got my dress for a cute little second hand store which my mom talked the lady down to $160 bc of a rip in the trane and what makes it more sentimental is when my mom was sewing it up she accidentally sewed her PJ bottom into it so I got a piece of yellow joe boxer cut into it lmao ! Most things are from dollar tree that we crafted together! Almost every girl dreams of the wedding day but going into debt is just a crazy way to start !
@@sandrawilliams5594I agree as well. My husband and I got married in our own living room. We spent less than $150.00 and $50.00 of that was for the preacher. He had a long drive to get to our home, so we felt we needed to give him extra.
You didn't even want to get married to start with why the hell would you waste all that money on a wedding I could have done the same party for $2,000 that's insane and if he's cheating on you sue him to recover your money
Red flag 1: 100% sure before girls night 90.6 Red flag 2: Talk it over urgently Red flag 3: or is it just me, unless you're a high-level attorney and with a major prestigious firm, most lawyers don't go on one "work trips." Retail one, unless you're the buying agent, you wouldn't be traveling for business either.
Ladies, always trust your instincts and gut, if something feels wrong check it out. Your instincts won't let you down. And can save your life. Hiring a investigator to look in to your partner. You need the evidence to end the relationship. Especially if your are engaged to marry. And the wedding ceremony is set.
Wouldn't her telling Zoe she didn't want to marry Jim kinda break her argument of sueing him about breaking a promise to marry? Sure, emotional damage can occur but maybe not the other one now
Lol, she was able to put up a fight about cheating with the fiancee but telling the family she doesn't want to marry that's a fight can't handle. This chick is funny and deserves the consequences she gets.
Jim sucks, but Stacy sucks too. It's alright to have doubts, but to say the thought of having children disgusts you when you know your partner wants at least 2 and not telling him is misleading. Even if Jim didn't cheat, that marriage wouldn't have lasted
Don't offer to bring him something just show up but it's not food bring him a clean shirt for tomorrow and you'll find out if he's cheating on you cuz you won't be there
This story is exposing two faced people.Telling men and women to becareful out there when dating or thinking of proposing. Stacy is also non committal with the way she complained about being nauseated by the though of having children because she wants to travel ( Which you can do with a family )
This was just another garbage story in a long line of garbage stories on here. There were no likable characters in this story. If this was AITA story, the verdict would be Everyone Sucks Here.
If you don't want to have kids...you shouldn't! And to hell with anyone who says otherwise. If she wants to travel it's a far different proposition traveling as adults vs traveling with kids. More power to Stacy for being honest.
@@annagilstrap4995Agreed, and will do. I'll be dropping a dislike on my way out though. Making your protagonist likeable is storytelling 101. I was annoyed with her before the first 5 mintues. Couldnt even finish.
I quite like the VAs but maybe chill it a bit with the high pitched tones and the over dramatic 'childrens book reading style' (especially the 'mock pouting' voice) that was basically the epilogue. Also try to speed it up a bit, too dragging in some places
My first wedding my step dad said I have the car out back running. I should have listened to him. I was married for 37 days... Lol guess he knew something
Another BS Story. In the USA it would be hard to Sue if you back out of the engagement. If both parties sign a contract for wedding venue etc. they are both responsible to pay cancellation fees.😂
She knew from jump street she didn’t want kids or the marriage but proceeded with plans Engaged doesn’t mean you have to rush marriage This was a prime example of that. And in the end it seemed it was all about money Ridiculous 35:34 35:34
Why is it the readers take the main character as the good person. This woman got engaged to a man she didn't want to marry in the first place. Then her and her friend tricked her sister into getting involved with the fiance, just so they could sue the fiance and sister for a large amount of money. If you ask me; the main character is the bad one.
The sister was cheating with her sister's fiancé sinse they were engaged, so she doesn't trick them to have an affair, they tricked them to cancel the wedding.
@DanielaSachi EXACTLY. She made lemonade out of lemons. When she found out for certain -Zoe bragging(over text no less😂) of the affair, she decided to sue for damages. If there hadn't been affair, the wedding would most likely have happened since she wanted to please her mother & didn't want to waste all her savings for nothing. Zoe didn't need to be tricked into stealing the fiance. She wanted Jim regardlessly BECAUSE he was engaged to her sister who she deeply resented long before the engagement.
That footsies-under-the-table thing is an old trope, circa 1980-something. It's pretty lame. I also hate the dad voice. It's so loud, like you turned up the sound by 100% for his voice. I kind of hate this plot. I think the main character is manipulative and creepy, getting engaged and being dishonest about her feelings for the guy. I don't like this story at all.
Tihs would have been so much better had the main voice characters NOT sounded as if they were middle-aged and on drugs. I could have played this at double speed and it would still have sounded good.

Most reasonable people will have already discussed having kids before getting engaged.

Ladies and gentlemen, stop spending so much money on one day!!! Spend it on your future! I know it doesn't hold well with this trainwreck though lol
Totally agree.
That's pretty much a house down payment
