Just got the Faxon FX7 16" barrel (bolt action)-what your advice on a hunting scope 100-500 yards-both supersonic and subsonic-any good recommendations on ammunation?

In South Africa, the law determines that the minimum required caliber for hunting dangerous game is .375 in all areas. 8.6(.338) is thus illegal to hunt a cape buffalo.
Not quite - most provinces in SA, it is up to the PH. However, most PHs dont even allow .300 win mag and .338 win mag and I totally am with them on that. Actually a little weird, because I'll take a .243 for Eland, but generally an Eland isn't going to become dangerous if wounded.

@@CheerfulPessimist686 Hard to insert African websites on TH-cam, but you can fairly quickly verify yourself by looking at a few well respected African guiding and hunting websites. .375 is the minimum in South Africa, while 9.3mm is the minimum in others, while a few countries don’t have minimum requirements. So, again, I wonder how they got around that. Either way, this is a great demonstration as to why it’s a minimum, seeing as he shot a small cape buffalo three times and it casually wandered off to slowly die.
9:45 drank wuss beer for 4 days straight, morning til night for my buddies wedding. Hand full of shots here and there. Never had a hangover. I’m usually the guy that’s green the next day

@@stacksfarmstead Feral hogs can have up to 30 piglets per year. Cape Buffalo have 1 calf per year. Theres no way they would get out of hand. But I appreciate your point. Im in Texas, and the hogs are legitimately out of control and destroying the ecosystem

Awesome content: at 52yr old, I just once in my life "before" I (kick the bucket), would love to have the opportunity, to go hunt in Africa! However being hat I am a useless loser poor that's "never" going to happen I cant even afford the rifle that would do the job, not even a low end budget 308.

Guess what-meat like that is donated to the local villages-the same for like Hippo, Elephant, etc. The villages are real happy to get an additional source of protein...means they don't have to slaughter their goats or Cattle

So I know some hunts the meat isn't exactly prized ..esp predator hunting but do these Buffalo meat get used? Or donated? Just curious
