My grandparents had a 91 Brougham D'Elegance had the white pillow top leather interior I loved riding in it so much 😌 especially when we would go on long trips. I'd fall asleep easily back there! beautiful Cadillac here
I worked as a co-op student at Clark Street. You wouldn’t believe the intricacy of the rear tail lamp chrome bezels. Multi-piece, welded and ground smooth. Copper nickel chrome plating for depth and durability. 5 story assembly building. Conveyors that wound for miles throughout the factory. Cadillac was going to cancel the car in 1986 when the C-body DeVille was introduced, but demand remained high. That is a beauty of a Fleetwood.
That's a beautiful Cadillac. Like the white exterior with the blue leather interior. Nothing compares to the Cadillacs back in the 70's, when cars were still huge.
Great video ! I own a 81 Oldsmobile 88 Delta sedan with a 5.0 V8 ( 307 cu ) . These Cadillacs were true Caddies unlike what we have today . These Broughams are on my bucket list soon .
beautiful Brougham. That car port combined with your 91 brings back a news story I saw back in the day. An old lady had a brand new burgundy 92 Brougham with gold trim and she was pulling into her car port on the side of the house and she hit the pillar and the roof fell onto the car and killed her as it crushed the car. I remember how sad the news story was. I believe a car port or "garage" should be able to stand up if one of the support beams get knocked out. wiggle the floor pan/foot-well light on the front pass side.
Beautiful car but since is was lighter than the 60's and early 70's it didn't have the ultra ride quality that they did. I rode in a 63 new and no other car has matched it.
Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of mounting the seatbelts on the front doors? A buddy of mine as work owns a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am GT, and also his has those funny seatbelts, though his is a 2 door teal blue car, and he couldn't figure that out either. I've also seen them on an older Buick LaSabre parked in a Walmart parking lot earlier this month the car looked like from the 1980s, maybe early 90s. So it appears to be a GM thing on their older models, that I noticed.
That is a great question. The reason for that bizarre configuration is a matter of compliance with Federal safety restraint requirements introduced at that time. The regulation called for a passive restraint system on all cars sold in the US. This requirement was met by the introduction of airbags in most vehicles, but inflatable air bags could not be incorporated into some older style models, so this system was a workaround. Technically you are able to leave the seatbelt latched and be able to open the door and enter and exit the car without touching it. That fact satisfied the requirement. It can certainly be done, but is hilariously awkward. You can imagine that most people just used the seatbelts the way they had always done in the past.
@@southerncadman7066 well I will let my buddy at work know tomorrow and see if his jaw drops lol. We must have had some really weird politicians and legislators in office at the time these federal Restraint system requirements were put into place, (but what politicians ACTUALLY have common sense🤥) because the whole purpose of having airbags in the first place, obviously, is to provide additional protection to the vehicle occupants from striking interior objects during severe collisions beyond what seatbelts alone can offer, by acting as a giant pillow in front of you or between you and the sides of the interior.
@@southerncadman7066 i just got home from my buddy's house after work, the buddy with the 1992 Pontiac grand am with the funny seatbelts, after playing a couple hands of 7 card stud, lol and told him to get in the car, buckle the seatbelts, close the doors, then open them and slide in under the seatbelt, close the door then open it & get out without touching the buckle, looked at me like I had one too many beers lol. Gotta admit though, watching my friend was pretty hilarious to say the least. My friend normally drives a Chevrolet Traverse to work, but the time he was driving the grand am was because his Traverse was in the shop for repairs. So the old car is just kept as a spare, gets driven on special occasions.
Beautiful car. Very well built with real chrome metal bumpers and real glass headlights. Regarding the air conditioning, just curious, i never quite understood the difference between R12 and R134a. Does one deplete the ozone layer or something, kind of like the older fire extinguishers that used Halon.
If you look I to the politics behind the banning of r12 one cannot help but become dubious of the entire ozone narrative. DuPont’s patent on R12 had expired, which allowed any company to produce R12 for about $0.50/lb. which resulted in Freon getting down to about $2/can right before it was banned. DuPont was all for vilifying R-12. Amazingly it was DuPont again that introduced the newly patented R-134a for all cars starting in 1994. (What a coincidence!) R12 Freon (Dichlorodifluoromethane) is heavier than air and harmless to the environment. Nothing but corrupt politics and corporate greed behind it’s being banned.
There are physical engineering differences between the 2 systems. For example, the veins in the condensers forR-134 cars are of a smaller diameter than for R-12 cars. R-134 cars had electric cooling fans which help that system work properly. Also depending on the year, your internal valves are set to open at different different pressures according to the type of refrigerant. In my opinion, it is best to stick with what the car came with either way.
that's a beauty!! the 90-92 is my favorite generation
My absolute favorite Cadillacs right here. THIS is what I picture anytime I hear "Cadillac".
This is what a Cadillac will always look like for me.
I'm over the pond not even from the States too.

Cadillac had a habit of choosing some weird engines -- 305 Chevy -- not so good for such a heavy car -
Same engine used in full size trucks and vans. It works well here too.
All of them should have came standard with the 5.7v8 .
A lot of money for a little Chevy engine. A down sized 472/500 would have been better.
In a perfect world it would have come with a 400 with fuel injection. 😏
Would you like to sell this vehicle
It is for sale. Price and phone number are in the description.
