Even at this point of his career, Quartey's jab was still the best in the game. His timing and power with the jab is exquisite.

Ike was special. Sad to see him get robbed against Forrest and the Dela Hoya fight should have been a draw.
When I added up the rounds, I had Ike beating Dela Hoya, but a draw would have been more acceptable. Thanks for commenting.

Was A big time Robbery against DeLaHoya with the exception of the Two Knockdowns and the Final Round De La Hoya probably won 4 Rounds at BEST. Realistically 3 . Ike Put on a Boxing career Performance that night . IKe along with James Page and Jose Luis Lopez were The Three Most Avoided Welterweights Between the Years 1996-98 .

A nice jab but only casual fans would be blown away by it. Feel free to watch the jab The Easton Assassin put in peoples faces. Then you will see the greatest jab Boxing has ever seen.

Unfortunately Whitaker and Trindad both never fought IKE at 147lb when IKE was calling Whitaker out. Especially considering IKE had the WBA belt from 1994 thru 1998 and Whitaker had the WBC Belt from 1993 thru 1997 . Rinidad had the IBF welterweight belt from 1993 thru 1999. Considering Whitaker would have been the "A" Side he never made the Unification with IKE . Instead Pernell fought Diosbelys Hurtado and twice with Wilfredo Rivera who neither one was a Powerful Threat like Bazooka Ike.
I think they were building Trinidad up for the Canelo of his generation - Oscar De La Hoya. & Whitaker probably wanted the bigger fight with Oscar as well.
You're right though - it have been interesting to see how Whitaker or Trinidad would have handled Quartey's heavy jab..

Ike's jab, Duran' s right hand, Sugar Ray's uppercut and Toney's upper body movement and the steady foot work of Arguello. What a combination that would be!
