That rubber band and the plastic bag once upside down is sitting in the WATER reservoir on top. The bacteria and decomposition from soaking in water will contaminate your water. Reusable lids are 5 bucks for two. Don't be THAT cheap.

I don’t understand, what do you mean by you don’t use the reusable one but pour it directly into the water dispenser, you use a bottle though, right because that’s what you demonstrated?
Does the plastic ever clog the internals? Or do you remove the pieces or something after use? I can understand that it won't go into your drink or anything though.
My only worry is the bag parts leaching Chen's into your drinking water. Was thinking zip-loc bad as it's food grade. Sure beats the heck out of puddles!!!

That size didn’t fit my jug, the other size was too loose! They seem to be 48 or 55mm, my bottle is 53mm. It’s like if you find a bottle that will work, can’t find caps that will fit and vice versa so it seems I’ll have to do this or put a hole in the cap.🤷🏻♂️

Personally, instead of using a plastic bag, I used one of those very thin plastic wraps so that it would tear once I've flipped the gallon over

Tip it gently into the system does the same thing without the extra steps.. fills it WITHOUT splashing every time, takes less time as well.
