It takes concentration to build that kind of skill. Video games and iPhones have robbed a whole generation by training their minds away from long stretches of focused attention.
I'll always remember having the privilege to hank out and jaw with and sing with Jerry and his band when he invited me to come up to the first class cabin with him on a flight from Florida to Atlanta back in the 70's
No doubt about it, one of country's best pickers. In my opinion in this time and era of the video, no better pickin performers could top Jerry, Chet and Roy Clark.
Every time I hear and see this particular video, it still blows me away. I play guitar, banjo and harmonica. These boys are world class musicians. Picking out of this world, and fiddling too.
Ever since finding out the index finger on his right hand was damaged and not used I can’t get over how he plays like this. Its insane what he does without that finger! He is one talented sob!
Hoo boy that’s something else I tell you right now! I kick myself that I wasted my youth NOT seeing important folks like Jerry Reed live and in person before they packed it in. I love you Jerry Reed.
Jerry is one of 4 people certified by Chet Atkins as a CGP.(Cerified Guitar Player). This Video shows why he earned that honor. He is having way too much fun. Great video-Thank you for posting this!!
Jerry Reed was one-of-a-kind, that's for sure. A real musician's musician, and a heck of an entertainer. I'll admire the man as long as I live. I have pretty much the same opinion about Roy Clark, actually.
RIP Jerry, a simply outstanding country star and easily my favourite guitar-man. I bet him and Chet are pickin' at them strings as I type. Man I love this vid, 5 stars.
damn!! i just realised who this was tonight, loved smokey and the bandit as a kid, but only found, by chance, jerrys breakdown and realised how feckin good he was on guitar!! and that he's no longer with us. RIP Jerry!!
The banjo player is Fred Newell, who also played with Waylon Jennings and Barefoot Jerry at the time. In the mid-1970's Bela Fleck was probably still in high school in New York.
found it. it's from the album "country music hall of fame". but that's not what i was hoping for, im looking for any recording of jerry reed's version, which is clearly the best, imo. and he has several versions, and i of course only want THIS version, because it's so unbelievably awesome :)
Jerry Reed. Cletus Snow / Snowman out of Smokey and the Bandit. Eastbound and down.... "smokey don't know you yet, well then lets introduce him to the boys!" Great guy. Remember that moment he pulled that 18-wheeler over them motor bikes. :-)
Is that Fred on the banjo? A steel playing friend of mine said it was him but I disagreed. I guess he was right. I never knew Fred played banjo. Jerry always was my favorite and this proves it over again for me. I miss this era of music.
Frightening! That was great to see how the audience would clap after each solo; let's see that happen on American Idol! Great clip - how does Reed sing & play like that underneath it!
There never has been an never will be another Jerry Reed and a backing band like these guys right here... All top shelf..❤️🔥👑❤️🔥👑❤️🔥 awesome
Is it weird that Im obsessed with Jerry Reed videos on this site? I started watching them innocently enough and now cant get enough. You go Jerry!!!

Jerry was one helluva entertainer. Country music lost a giant when he left us. RIP, Jerry
There ain't no snowballs chance in hell that you can listen to Jerry and not have a smile on your face
Not even my type of music but holy shit. Brilliance
Man this is everyone’s type of music!!
I done heard at least 50 different versions of the Alabama Jubilee. But I’ve Never heard anybody do as well and skillful as Jerry Reed.
Coolest guy in history. There´s something special about him I can´t point out. He always looks so cool and calm...
It’s called having an amazing charisma w/ being especially talented musically.
You nailed it! He’s so damn cool !
That harmonica player is insane
Isn't it awesome how EVERYONE can admit how talented this guy was?!?!?! Jerry Reed is/was/always will be one of a kind!
I'm not much a country guy unless you're talking Jerry Reed and Roy Clark. This song is the best rendition i have ever heard.
What happened to talent in this country? I don't even like this song, but the talent is undeniably amazing. Just amazing 👏
It takes concentration to build that kind of skill. Video games and iPhones have robbed a whole generation by training their minds away from long stretches of focused attention.
@@user-zc9pq1bz6n Yeah. I'll buy that. It's a shame
That moment when you see the last 10
Seconds and realize that country boy just shredded harder than Steve Vai
I'll always remember having the privilege to hank out and jaw with and sing with Jerry and his band when he invited me to come up to the first class cabin with him on a flight from Florida to Atlanta back in the 70's
Breaker breaker for that snowman, RIP My friend your music will live forever!
The harmonica is amazing.
No doubt about it, one of country's best pickers. In my opinion in this time and era of the video, no better pickin performers could top Jerry, Chet and Roy Clark.
The banjo player is the wonderfully talented Fred Newell. Fred's also a great Tele and steel player.

This is when country music was country music. God, how I miss it.
Ever since finding out the index finger on his right hand was damaged and not used I can’t get over how he plays like this. Its insane what he does without that finger! He is one talented sob!
Jerry Garcia lost a finger and had re-learn the guitar. Some people are just born with it.
Omg Best guitar solo ever!!
Jerry you're the best
Hoo boy that’s something else I tell you right now! I kick myself that I wasted my youth NOT seeing important folks like Jerry Reed live and in person before they packed it in. I love you Jerry Reed.

When it comes this effortlessly, it is God-given.

He had IT.
This is the most amazing version of this i've ever heard. And coincidentally, Roy Clark's version is AWESOME too!
Beezlebozo Roy Clark’s version sounds like he heard the song the night before. Jerry an His crew are a notch better
Check this version out th-cam.com/video/xbVQF8ck2sQ/w-d-xo.html .
RIP Jerry, a simply outstanding country star and easily my favourite guitar-man. I bet him and Chet are pickin' at them strings as I type. Man I love this vid, 5 stars.

Crazy! That's THE ultimate Version and performance! Impossible to perform it better!
This is back in the days when you could still get excited about music. Look at what we have today, it is so disappointing by comparison.
No one came close to this monster talent. Still trying to learn some of his fingerstyle. Years later. Lol
This guy could outdo Roy on his worst day.
Hey jazz is my forte but Jerry Reed was one of a kind. Great entertainer and dearly loved in show biz. Love you Jer.
One of the best pickers of all time!!! Love it when he plays with chet.
That's the great Terry Mcmillan on the harp. He passed away last year. There's some good stuff on here of him.
He was full of energy! My man, rest in peace.
The best finger picker ever even Chet admitted it.
damn!! i just realised who this was tonight, loved smokey and the bandit as a kid, but only found, by chance, jerrys breakdown and realised how feckin good he was on guitar!! and that he's no longer with us. RIP Jerry!!

OH YEAH. And what a band! See how the FIRST thing Jerry does is turn to his band and let them know they done good. Jerry in his prime for sure.
The bells on those bottoms, man...

Love the fact that Jerry introduces us to the puffy shirt

Throw down those crutches,, hey let ‘em go!
Hail Hail the gangs all here.
Jerry. Damn Jerry GO ON!
I've never seen Jerry playing acoustic guitar before. He was just as great on it :)
He loved his Baldwin. He preferred classical guitar over Steel strings.
This is the best.
Awesome!!!
Frightening! That was great to see how the audience would clap after each solo; let's see that happen on American Idol! Great clip - how does Reed sing & play like that underneath it!
