Mads, I would suggest adding a clear plexiglass viewing window to the top of the cover so you can quickly see if you have a drive issue while at sail. Should be easy to router in.

Can you put the outboard in the space available in the cockpit locker? When you're in less urban places and are moving from anchorage to anchorage you will need easier access to the outboard. Doubly so if you're going to put your dinghy up on deck for anything other than short sails. You could even hook up a charge point in there, tucked up under the side in case of splashes

Ever considered using the space up towards the aft in the locker? You could fit a row of jam-jars with the lids adhered/screwed up into the top and the jars "hanging" by the lids.. Very efficient and a great water tight storage for small stuff..
I too thought of a French cleat when Mads mentioned his thoughts of mounting the cover . I think the cover should be able to be removed without the need of tools.

Project idea: mylar or other similar plastic or cloth porthole shades. Cut thrm to the shape of thr portal, then use magnets to secure them either to the bolt heads if they are magnetic enough, or to other magnets epoxied in place.
I use a 16mm line for my jib sheets, too. One thing that was suggested to me was to just use one continuous line for the jib sheet. Simply find the middle and loop it through the clew and back through itself. This way, you don’t have those giant bowline knots getting caught up on your forward shrouds whenever you’re maneuvering.
That was very inspiring work, and the final results look excellent. Thanks for sharing enough detail of the required steps. This was a real eye opener vs. a plywood enclosure. Cheers.

I've found that the market is flooded with counterfeit sd cards and usb drives. Every has also cut their warranties. I would suggest, know your vendor. And if you use Sandisk they have a utility to check counterfeits. It is also a good idea to do a low level REFORMAT on these devices, since that can detect and lock out bits that about to fail. With your heavy use of media, I'd do that quarterly.
There's a small tool named H2testw that will test SD cards, external SSDs, etc. by just filling them up with random data, then reading the data to verify the drive retained the data correctly (it's using a pRNG with a seed to get a repeatable sequence of random data).
@@realulli Yep for Windows. There's a soft called F3 that performs the same for people running Linux / Mac OS. Counterfait drives pretend to have a storage capacity while they just have a fraction of it. When something looks like a real bargain, it often means there's a crookery behind !
As I can see there is some space under and over the driveunit cover which some little stuff can get through and reach the driveunit or the tillerarm. What I would strongly recommend is to eliminate this space, 'cause any little piece of stuff you can never imagine like bolt, nut, knot on a line end or whatever can stuck in this cover and cause the "pain in the behind". Some weeks ago my main sheet traveler was broken in such a way - nobody could imagine, that a winch handle can stuck under it.

I was wondering if you considered putting a piece of that 12mm wood on the inside from the locker? I was wondering what kind of torque the drive unit puts on the rudder arm and if it will cause warping (or more damage) on the bulkhead it's mounted to with washers. I don't know what kind of force that ram puts out and I'm used to dealing with high pressure hydraulic systems. So my "normal" support would be different.
@@WaterFaucet24 I should have assumed that some serious thought went into it. I mean I watched him put fairing compound on a cover. People who are that detail oriented generally don't forget to consider about the wall being strong enough to support the force on the mounting point.

Those are holding a large victron inverter and an even larger and heavier victron isolation transformer (a beast) on the other side. Which makes me think even more that he did some serious structural strength work on that bulkhead.
I wish you would do an overall cost eval for the whole project. I would love to know exactly what you spent on the boat and the man hours you spent on the project. I am betting that you could have bought a new boat for what you spent in time and money you spent on this boat.
As you have a Whitlock wheel, pedestal and steering did you not consider the Whitlock / Lewmar motor that bolts directly under the pedestal, much more reliable than tiller type auto pilots
I shot an hour and a quarter airplane flight yesterday and my GoPro 9 randomly shut itself off after 15 minutes. Why? Not sure. SDCards are mfg spec cards camera has latest update software. I am annoyed at the loss of footage too. I understand. As always, you have interesting DIY video. Thank you.

Question. I’m just back from sailing a Bavaria cruiser 36 for weeks. Now I’m at home sort off sea dizzying feeling at home. mostly it stays for 3 days. Has Eva the same now she’s off the boat for a while?
It takes sometimes 3 weeks for you to get your land legs back which means you don't feel like you're still rocking on the boat while standing on land it does take depends on how long you were out at sea but it can take up to 3 weeks look at the horizon and it'll go away it's just part of being a sailor it happens to everyone
hate to throw more tasks your way but those janki portlight covers you use to block glare from the camera need a more permanent solution for when you get to the tropics
I've been following your videos for years, but this is my first comment. Increasing the circuit breaker is DANGEROUS unless the wiring is also upgraded. i wasn't sure if your wiring is okay for the increased current.
He did say that the wiring from the panel to the DC-to-DC charger could “easily” handle 30A. And it looks like the breaker was 30A too, though just a guess based on Mads pointing to the breaker when he said 30A.

In the cockpit locker swap out the nuts for dome head nuts it'll save anything chafing on the bolt threads sticking out the back

Just remember a dive cylinder in heavy weather could as as a battering ram so may not be a good idea to have it near your autopilot!

If I remember correctly, Mads reinforced that bulkhead in anticipation of mounting the auto-pilot ram there.

Maybe even a large metal plate to distribute the forces more across the bulkhead

Probably covid afterglow. It changes your nerves. I had to do intermittent fasting and dump carbs to feel a wee bit better.

Plywood to make the cover is an option but I would use see through plexy glass, make it like a fish tank

Why dont you bolt an extension to the tiller arm, use 10mm thick aluminium sheet or bar.
Plywood would be better to use as is thinner and you could have fibreglassed it too. Saving ½ in and looking more streamlined
