I can remember all of these things because I was born in 1963 and definitely raised in the 70s Era of all this I had a water bed and I loved it warm in the winter time and cooler during the summer time
My older brother spent several of his summers working for a moving company way back in HS. One of his jobs was clearing out the home of a divorcing couple and I guess the woman was giving away their waterbed (possibly out of spite? 😁) so my brother took it. As he was still at home, he and my parents had to move literally EVERYTHING out of his small bedroom to make the behemoth of a bed fit! It literally was "The Bedroom!" (as not much else fit! 😂) After he left for college, I slept on it occasionally, but I'd wake up and I felt like I had water up my nose EVERY damned time!
