    This video and its companion provide an excellent introduction to Japanese woodblock printmaking. All necessary materials and steps are clearly and concisely explained. The simple kento (registation system) that Ms. Beeman has invented is ingenious, and her demonstration of its application is one of the clearest anywhere.

    Thank you for this wonderful video. My art teacher recommends using oil base inks as she says waterbase can reactivate (even in high humidity) and cause problems. Does adding the nori paste solve this concern?

      Shina Ply is usually used

    I'm confused. So then what is the purpose of doing five gradations on seperate pieces of paper? Why not just do the really detailed one, or do you somehow join them all together

      there were only two blocks with full gradations, the other two were detail blocks. i would guess that the fresh layer of color over a dry layer gives a different effect than mixing wet color.
