What about the pump thats on the motor that pumps the oil into the intake i figured this would have been talked about when explaining the oil injection
Working with friends 200 and 300 hdpis, both of them 06-08 vintage had issues with the tanks. I got to learn a lot from diagnosing them and found just like you said the harness was broken. One was actually the pin had rusted out of the connector. And the tank was also clogged. After the fun on the water of pulling the aux tank out of the bilge and pouring it into the motor tank to make it back we found the rocker switch on the motor to pump fluid into the reservoir. Although it only trickled because of the clog. Was still easier than the big mess we had on our hands. And I expect an online Marine tech program with monthly subscription soon with all this knowledge your dropping. Great work!

Perfect timing. I just ordered a new remote tank/pump/sensor/harness for my 2002 200 ox66 because I couldn’t get oil from the remote tank. The manual toggle/override wouldn’t activate the remote tank either. After watching the video I’m wondering if it’s just a bad ground connection-any idea where that ground point is? Thanks again!!!
Just spent $700 on parts for my 2000 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke. New head & water iacket with gaskets & accessories for install. Motor runs good, but would rather do that quarter century maintenance so i don't void the warranty 😂.
7:48 what do you mean by grounded. I purchase a used boat and the auxiliary tank sensor wires are missing coming out of the sensor. Do you think I can just wire the 2 black wires (black&red) together to mimic the tank being full?
That might work, but the computer is usually monitoring that, I'm not sure if it will work or not, but you can try it, that is a good way to make it think that the tank is full if you are trying to just premix and get rid of the alarm, hopefully you've figured this out by now though :)
hi, great technical information, got a question, I know how to eliminate the VRO on Yamahas 40 and 90 hp and mix my gas with Oil and so far no problem , My concern is How safe it is for a 225 HP saltwater series ?? thank you
I've never premixed an OX-66, theoretically, it would work, the injectors put the fuel into the throttle body and then into the engine, but I would kind of be concerned about WOT and having enough oil in the fuel, so it's kind of concerning. Theoretically it would work but yeah, a 225 is big engine compared to the 90 hp, and they premix the oil in the VST which puts more oil in at WOT. Also it has an o2 sensor that will also lean out the engine if it gets messed up so the premixing, would work, but over the long run it might have other complications. Hope that helps
This engine mounted tank float sensor on the V4 and V6 is a failure point. If your engine blows out an insane amount of smoke and dies out randomly. This switch isnt turning the remote "large" tank pump off. and its overflowing the engine tank which flows into the airbox I believe. Replace the engine oil tank cap/floatswitch its 110 bucks.
Idk if my aux tank pump failed or my wiring failed this weekend, but my motor alarmed out due to oil in the engine tank being low. Little continuity/voltage test will solve that issue, though. Do they really make V4 outboards or are they I4's? As a hobby mechanic for 28yrs that has always been a cringe word for me 😂
I think all the 4s were v4 in 2 stroke days. It is well known in auto industry and Yamaha found out with the inline marine 4 150four stroke, when going inline 4 there is a certain vibration generated that was cancelled out, so to speak as a solution, by a internal balance shaft, spinning. Yamaha used nylon gears, and they were failures, serious as the consequences were, perhaps nylon wasn’t the best material, what do I know. I was asked on Forums, where the spinning balance shaft was internal, is, I said WTF do I know, it’s in there somewhere and it’s your motor not mine. No issue with any other in line motor, in auto industry, in line 6, 8 whatever. Or inline 3 or 2, I think. 🤔😁

I got the 07 Yamaha 115 2 stroke i put some oil in my gas also to go along with the pump also i put the ring free in every tank motor runs like new
