- Ever wonder what it looks like when you put over 120 of the best RC Drifters in the world together in one building? Here it is the 2023 Super Drift Championship!!! Held at Super G Drift Arena in Baldwin Park California
This event is the culmination of almost a year of regional competitions all over the US, and even some select drivers from Canada were invited which I though was amazing. People came from coast to coast to compete for the title of the US Drift King, but only one person can hold that title!

He was dialed and man being there and seeing how close these battles were was insane. The camera doesn't do it enough justice! Hopefully next year he gets a better shot at the title. He absolutely could have won it!

Thanks for watching and ya man its my first year being a part of the drift scene and its wild how good these guys are! I had an hpi sprint back in the day but never got that serious with it so getting into the new wave has been a lot of fun!

It's such a blast to get to drive with the best drivers in the country let alone the world. Robin was my favorite driver to follow all week. Dude has the best style. He was running that qualifying line before the zones were even laid down!

Hard to find online by searching but what would you say is the most winning chassis from this event?
A lot of the top guys are running Rhino Racing Sharks kind of like what Im running in most of my videos. The Shark conversion can be added to a Yokomo Yd2 or Rd1.0 to convert it over using existing parts from the Yokomo Kit. You can also build a Shark Final Form which is the absolute top end of kits in 2023. Yokomo is probably the most popular choice for comps, and the Rhino Racing Shark Conversion really steps up what Yokomo is doing. Super G has a lot of information on their website about top chassis too if you want to read more about them:)
@@SeanLewisMedia thank you Sean I appreciate the reply. I'm Philippines/Japan based so I'm actually starting out the same exact way you did. I bought an RTR YD-2Z and have changed to the V4 Yoko Gyro and the Reve RS-ST. I wanted to ball out on the motor and ESC but I need to budget first so I bought a hobby wing sensored combo with the 10BL120 and a 13.5t. I'm originally from Fontana/Rancho Cucamonga so probably one day I'll see you at Super G. Thanks again

for a beginner like me which kit should i buy sakura d5 v2 or yokomo RD2. 0 ?
I do not know a lot about the D5 but i know people run them. My opinion is that that Yokomo RD2.0 will give you more options to upgrade as you learn. The Yokomo has probably the biggest after market parts support out of any brand and thats why I started with a RD1.0 about nine months ago.
Ive been able to take it from a rtr to a full competition build slowly over time which has been really nice.
does the wings have any effect when drifting rc?
Probably not a ton performance wise. It could play into your weight balance which I know at high levels a lot of people try to dial in. The main place it will effect you is dependent on how far back your wing sits. I've seen guys get snagged on walls and thrown off line by the wing. I think its more of a personal preference thing!
What are they scoring or looking at when judging? Speed ? Control ? Time ?
In qualifying they look for style, proximity to the walls, and how close of angle they can match to the tape lines in zones.
In the battles the lead driver is supposed to run the qualifying line and the chase is supposed to match that as close as possible. It’s really similar to a full size drift competition like formula drift. I’ve noticed a lot of the terms are similar to ones I’ve heard watching real drift.

To all the rc heads. which is the best beginner drift set up that I can get to learn on. And what type of tires 🛞 would you need going from warehouse to outside
Hey there! I’ve heard a lot of people talk about the Reve D RDX as an amazing setup. It’s also not as expensive as other options. You could also look at the RMX 2.5 rtr if you want to get something already ready to drift. As far as tire choice, the brands offer different plastic compounds so you can see what they are best recommended for and start testing things out. I would love for other people to give their opinions too!
@@SeanLewisMedia thanks so much for your time I appreciate any info you can throw at me. I was looking at a bunch of the rmx 2.5 and the price isn’t bad for something that’s ready out the box. I’m going to look at the comparison between the reve d rdx and narrow down. I’m already thinking of the different builds 🤣 although it probably would be cheaper to just buy the bodies to swap them out instead of buying another whole kit. This is gona be another expensive hobby next to guns lol. What do you prefer to drift rd indoor or outside? Also do the stock radio they come with good or would you recommend upgrading that right away as well
Haha I feel you on the expensive part. The only issue you run into with ready to runs is eventually you will find the limitations and likely want to start upgrading as you go. For the most part the electronics are where most the performance is noticed. The chassis all do a pretty good job of matching each others performance. Indoor has been the most fun, but thats also because I live so close to Super G, I havent done much outdoors but if its all you have then make the best of it. Its hard to get a car tuned well for both, and once you have a good indoor tune if you go outside it can mess it up. Its a balance haha, i would like to build a cheaper chassis up for outdoors. My current car is all carbon so its a little risky outside@@GFODT562

I’m already thinking of all the upgrades inm gona want so I’m planning on ordering them with the kit but keeping it stock and kind of build the car as I progress and make content on it. I found the ReveD 1/10 RDX RWD Drift Car Kit EP 100% Guarantee on promotion for 90.50$? That sounds like a crazy ass too good to be true deal but the website looks legit. You made some interesting points that foreshadowed solutions to problems I didn’t know I would encounter. To prevent that I’ll build a car if inside and one for outside.
