Hi Jurijs, great video. We do recommend to keep the acrylic above the flame of the lighter (Approx. 1-3 cm). Than you will not encounter the coloring of the acrylic tube.
I'm curious if submerging the acrylic in a boiling pot of water would be enough. If not, would a hair dryer? Best bet is probably a heat gun but for those don't have that, maybe those could be viable options.
Thanks for the video I got the extended one in the mail today. You are my favourite aquascaper out there, so informative and love your vibe. Keep it up hope to one day have a workshop from you.
Heat gun with 180 C for acrylics. Perfect bend and color. The silicone tubing is to prevent the bend from sticking together and obstructing the flow, that can happen when bending tubings with voided inner parts.
@@JurijsJutjajevs I used to bend all my tubings including filter tubings with heat guns and silicone inner things. On my aquascaping channel @Aqua Garden I am preparing a video how to do that like a pro at home.
Use a heat gun or keep it above the flame! I built a few custom loops for water cooled pc's so I've got more hours of practice than I care! Best way is to place heat gun on the table facing up and use both your hands to maneuver and control the tube over the heat. the correct distance from the heat source takes a bit to get, but roughly an an inch or two is good. Thanks for the review, about to pick one up from buceplant. Wish I knew about this sooner bc I took delivery of the regular Neo just yesterday. Always need backups and spares tho!
Just did it today and it looks awesome. I’ve managed to clean the black smoke on the acrylic with....with...nail polish solution aka acetone, just a drop on a tissue it’s sufficient 😜
We’ve been doing this for years in water cooled PC’s use a heat gun (or wind proof lighter at a distance), a naked flame will always cause discolouration.
It’s like bending tubes for water cooling PC setups you should use a heat gun instead of lighter the rubber tube is to help the acrylic keep its shape when bending
Thanks for the review Jurijs! The one thing I have not done is CO2. I think it's more of being nervous to try it even though I know it's better for the aquascape. One day I will make the jump lol!
Usually it’s not a problem, and the water is pushed out next day. If you for whatever reason want to prevent this from happening, observe how long it takes for the water to get inside the diffuser and set your Co2 timer to go on briefly every given period of time. But honestly, I never bothered about this, maybe make sure you’re using co2 proof tubing as it can help

Pressure vs area. Pressure over a larger area creates smaller bubbles. Like a water hose with a tiny nozzle, it'll put more pressure into a tiny area forcing it to come out faster, which you do not want as it will be bigger bubbles that do not dissipate in the water. You want a mist, that dissolves before reaching the surface.

@@JurijsJutjajevs the tubes, I was very skeptical, so I read the manual and watch many videos I recently discovered this happened often with that brand
As to prevent the tubing from popping off of the acrylic pipe I got the idea that the tubing between the diffuser and check valve should be kept as short as possible thereby minimizing water from flowing backwards into the tubing. I have not tried that by myself but will do soon since the system failed on me a couple of times also. I suppose the pressure builds up too high if CO2 forces too great an amount of water out of the diffuser. In other words I reckon gas passes the diffuser plate easier than water. Seems as if this is the flip side of the very tiny bubbles it can create. Cleaning thoroughly with citric acid and chlorine is mandatory once a week also. Another idea for those of you who encounter similar problems is to add some drops of citric acid into the acrylic pipe itself and see if that helps.
Butane lighters or a heat gun should allow this to be bent without the soot and discoloration. Lighter fluid is a fairly dirty burn by comparison to butane.
