  • Supercharge your fanning strikes and avoid injuries by utilizing these simple tips by the world-renowned grandmaster Rene Tongson from the Philippines!
    He took his first lesson at the age of nine in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental - the hometown of Professor Remy A. Presas, using sugar canes instead of a rattan stick which was scarce then. His Modern Arnis training started with Grandmaster Roberto Presas and Grandmaster Christino Vasquez, under the guidance of Grandmaster Remy Presas.
    With Grandmaster Mateo D. Estolloso of Antique, Panay Island, he refined his classical techniques such as Banda-y-Banda, Rompida, Doblada, Hirada Batanguea, Espada-y-Daga, Palis-palis and many more. Under Grandmaster Ernesto Presas he mastered the techniques of Filipino weaponry.
    Grandmaster Rene is the Grandmaster of ABANIKO TRES PUNTAS and Grandmaster, 10th Dan in Modern Arnis. Nowadays he is primarily known for his unique ABANIKO TRES PUNTAS style of classical Arnis.

    I trained here in 2016-2017 in Rosario, Cavite. Trainings are free for Filipino locals and they do certifications. You'll not only learn Abanico Tres Puntas but also Modern Arnis.

    Thanks for the info! Doing these techniques with wrist only really does put a strain on the joint. Definitely would try this.

    Pugay po sa inyo..
    Yan po sinasabi ko ngayon sa bagong mga nagtuturo, lalo na sa DepEd, yung striking methods at body mechanics, nawawala, ginawa ng sayaw ang arnis na maganda tignan ang galaw pero nawawala sa tamang pamamaraan at galaw , kahit sa basics, mali na agad.

    I like the detail understanding, and to generate more power via shoulder rotation, but won't the strike be easier to check if one's elbow sweeps broadly across the spine axis (horizontal abanico) and shoulder axis (vertical abanico)?

    • @neomagnon
      @neomagnon ปีที่แล้ว

      @MrGizmoto. Any strike can be checked if you are aware of (or sense) its beginning and fast enough to stop (or preempt) it. But once it is on its way with great velocity, stopping it is almost impossible. Even if you stop the initial strike, it can swiftly rebound to other oppositte angles - horizontal, vertical, diagonal.
