I bought a new cover, but I managed to dry one foam core from the old cover, but the other has been in a heated shed, and isn't getting any lighter, as it's been over a week now ! I'm hoping to be able to use the old one in winter when I shut it down !
This would be more helpful if you provided information about the practicality of replacing the vapour barrier with a new one. What material to use? Do you need to seal it with a caulking or something like that? Also, are there products to make the cover less permeable?
Food for thought, yes and somewhat helpful. What do you cover your hot tub with during those 2-3 days that you have the cover off and try to dry or replace the core foam? Second, do you have any information about a different kind of hot tub cover that needs never to be replaced? These things are unwieldy and are a massive dump on the environment in the landfills. Where are the techies that know the materials available?
You missed the most important bit of information. How to make your own water tight vapor barrier. You said to use plastic wrap. Okay. Now, how do you seal it?

Makes sense. Will try this out when we get a few sunny days. Vapour wrap is main issue. Will try and rewrap and seal in thick plastic wrap.

Use a 6ml plastic barrier, tuck tape to tape new barrier.
Thanks John Oliver

Awesome, thanks man
We can just use the hot air coming from this guy to dry out the waterlog foam. :)
His will dry out quicker with all that hot air.
