It's fascinating to me that when Britta gets up, it gets awkward and the other remaining people at the table don't know what to say to each other. Britta may "Britta" things, but she keeps the group's momentum going with her antics.
It's bonkers that that's what the group needs Britta for! But also for sure Britta needs the group to avoid making horrible choices like marrying the pizza guy
But in all the other timelines she leaves the room to go to the bathroom anyway, and the rest of the group get along fine without her. Why is this the only instance with an awkward silence?

I think it’s also the fact she couldn’t play the song Roxanne everything just seems way more awkward and slow then if it was playing (like the song also made all the other timelines seem more “intense” and interesting) goes to show how much a score can impact scenes
It's a shame there was so much friction with Chevy Chase on the show, because that look of self-realization when he shouts, "You're lonely and crazy!" is some amazing acting.
Some of his finest work, to be sure.
I've seen interviews of this guy, and think that line might have been internalized.

@@jacksquat7850 Yeah, to be honest, I can understand why he hated being on community. Even though it was a great show it never got the ratings it deserved, and they kept forcing him to play the bad guy.
I'm almost convinced Pierce isn't even a scripted character at this point

Because she's sad and lonely and being scorned by Jeff in all other timelines. She didn't have the chance to get more high in this one to keep her brain happy, so she just went with the next guy who showed her attention.
Whenever I watch the first season of this show, I feel bad for Britta and think she deserves better, then I watch this episode and think. “That’s right.”

You can see the most clearly how Pierce resents Abed and Troy’s friendship, all he wants is not to be alone but his selfishness and inappropriate behaviour prevent him from ever fixing his flaws.
When Britta wasn't around, it became ackward and silent. XD
and they say she's the buzzkill. I think it's cause she's the 'loosest' in the group as she's kinda hippie.

this is the bittersweet timeline. like a normal community episode. even britta's marriage would have probably ended on divorce.

@@hydroking2969 Character developpment. She started with a good value of herself but the longer into the show, the more her views got exploded and the more she became a garbage can. Jess was hitting on her at her peek, then she devolved into a broken girl hahaha.
Britta wasn't into Jeff cause he wasn't hippie/weird enough for her. Britta's boyfriends included: a typical shirtless hippie, mentally damaged carnival worker, weird pizza dude, and a literal corporate as a human being. Jeff is too normal for Britta's taste in men lol.
@@hydroking2969 then again britta was written different in season 1. in season 1 she was still a self-loathing insecure always-against-the-flow hippie but she was sort of the "sane one"
at a certain point, it felt like the writers were making fun of Britta more than the other characters (and they're the ones that created her)
She was the butt of a lot of jokes, but they gave her some moments showing she plays a big role when it comes to the groups friend dynamic. This timeline is a good example, where without Britta playing Roxanne, it’s pretty awkward at the table.

When you start watching Twin Peaks or Rick and Morty
as someone who only just started watching this series as it started to air on Netflix, along with only being up to S1 Ep14. I am very confused by the past 5 videos I've watched lmao.
when u follow it thru u will understand how genius this episode is, the timelines and the nods to the others like annie n jeffs googley eyes at each other. one timeline has shirley mentioning it and another has her just rolling her eyes
There's a weird pattern that I noticed when I first saw this episode...
s1e2 is called 'Spanish 101'.
s2e3 Shirley stresses the number 2 "What are you guys doing TOgether just the TWO of you." 202
s3e4 The door says 303. (after mentioning "304", the actual number of the episode)
Season 4 there was a gas leak. There are mentions of the number of red balls the dean was handing out but eh... Though the reverse of Jeff's apartment and the END of s4e1 is "204", representing the topsy turviness of the season?
s5e6 Duncan says "I, for one, am glad.." 4+1 is 5. So 505? (yeah it's a stretch)
s6e7 The whiteboard behind Elroy and Annie says "It's totally blank. Let's not mess that up unless" trailing off and then signed "GC607". That number messes up the pattern by referencing the season and episode it is. (not counting season 4)

I can't believe I didn't notice this before, but the internal character contradiction with Britta - she is the antithesis to the poster child for women's emancipation, while being the strongest advocate for said cause. Constantly lashing out, makes ridiculous decisions and has ridiculous levels of parental issues, is rich but throws tantrums anyway. The writing was quite prescient.

@@Rosy2468 the superficial contradiction was obvious, and was alludes to explicitly, so I would have to have the IQ of a mollusc to miss that. I'm referring to the subtler aspects of her character, that display her incompetence rather than her hypocrisy, that tie in to the same facets.
Been thinking about this upon rewatch. My hot take - Britta's flaws and contradictions stem from internalized hatred of her own femininity. She rages against it, so it jumps out in damaging ways. She and Jeff correspond as people who've stunted themselves by living life defined by gender roles (Jeff trying to fit his, Britta trying to escape hers).
@@nicole_1747 this is exacerbated by her lady peers, Annie and Shirley, who are both overtly feminine and yet successful and happy, that has on more than one occasion irked her.

This show very quickly died when Pierce left. The fourth season was bad but still watchable. When Chevy Chase left, it just lost all watchability for me.
The first three seasons of this show are pretty good season 4 is ok but seasons 5 and 6 are kinda depressing the show went downhill after pierce died and Troy left to sail around the world
