You can take fine grain sandpaper to the paper to remove the orange from the sides if the inner pages are ok? - what causes yellowing- Not just sun light but also smoke, cooking with fats/oils, dust, foxing (bad- book mold and spreads, always look out for it), heat/humidity.. pretty much everything in our home will get into the paper and degrade it and make yellowing worse.
My wob packages it’s always a roulette on wether the packaging will be ripped 🙃 I wish they would fix it because some of the books are already a little fragile and beat up because of how old they are. I had a similar thing with skip beat, I saw someone selling 1-6 for really cheap and was like oh well I might just give it a shot then. I prefer new books but with so much stuff I want out of print it’s kind of unavoidable. I swear back when I started I never had an issue with quality control but now I’m getting so many misprints and misaligned spines, it’s so annoying like my volume one of a condition called love some of the pages were so pale they were unreadable. I wonder if it’s because they are producing more copies now than back then so they are just churning them out, with the prices going up though it’s so annoying we are paying more money for worse quality.
Yesss! I dunno what it is with viz but I get a lot more spine alignment issues with them! But I see it happen to yen press volumes and those are actually expensive!!!
I think it depends on the series if I'll get it new or used. Some series I don't follow on release or if it's older than I try to get them used or if I can find odd cheap volumes. If I'm keeping up to date they're new. I really need to catch up on all of the villainess! Hope you enjoy The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices. I really enjoyed it. Great haul!!

Manga Sloth does some manga rehab videos that deal with yellowing. His treatment is bold, too say the least! Personally, I kinda can't wait for my Banana Fish volumes to yellow and complete the *aesthetic* ha ha
Buying used online is such a hit or miss, some are like new while others... YIKES! I got a volume one ex Library volume online aaaannnnd inside all the eyes, nails, and some clothes were colored like a coloring book! With marker 😂 Hot. MESS!!

I’m on my last two volumes to get for Nana as well. They came back in stock for me and I am just waiting for them to come in the mail. I’m waiting for more Kamisama Kiss to come back into stock. Glad that there have been reprints for these series!
@@lyddiemoon it took quite a while of checking eBay etc, but I got the first three volumes for $30. Unfortunately, I already had the first two, but oh well. Plus, they were first printings, not that I normally care that much. Now I just need to make it through the first volume! I’ve started it a couple of times, but it’s quite confusing. Another series that I’ve begun recently that you might enjoy is Case Study of Vanitas. So far I’m enjoying the story, and the art is fantastic.
For me I'd PREFER shiny brand new manga.....however, manga collecting is expensive and some are harder to get your hands on so 🤷. As long as its not really banged/torn up, and if i can remove any stickers (like library stickers for example), I'm not gonna stress over buying used copies.
