  • Watch his face through this part of the video. He seems to be at the border of tears. "If we actually sat with our absent fathers and heard their life experiences, we might be surprised not only by their experiences but also that they survived them." For the Love of my Father (2nd Edition) Page 6. Watch her face when he talks about regretting his absence. This is a man who has done some work on himself. "To admit wrongness would essentially mean the destruction of the only self he has unless he has done some redemptive work. Then he could admit to the past behavior and still have safety in knowing this is not who he is anymore.” For the Love of my Father (2nd Edition) Page 37.

    I never had a relationship with my father and he left her when I was 2 years old in 1957. Sometimes, you have to let being angry and bitter go. 🙏🙏 My father died in 1992 and I was the one who made the arrangements for his funeral.

      Women aren't the only ones that are fatherless.And there will be many more. Having sex without considering the consequences have resulted in so much heartache for kids.Marriage may not offer guarantees, but far better than having babies out of wedlock!

    Well all I can say about this is nice story wish them well
    Of course this is made public so their will be a bunch of comments and opinions of all kinds . For me this is their life their business their story their way . I have no realationship with my dad and never needed at all im almost 50 . I didn’t care or even think about him growing up or now as ans adult . God has always been in my life and that’s all the father I’ve ever needed and have and it’s better then an earthly father . I don’t hate my dad if I were to see him I’d hug him and say hello but he is s stranger and that’s how I’d like to keep at this point in my life
    My mother was single but I had 8 other older siblings so I didn’t lack anything then or now didht miss out on anything then or now
    Life happens it is what it is people need to move on and grow up even with or without a relationship with father a mother or who ever it may be

    It's good Alicia had this opportunity to talk, confront, express and ask all the "why's" to her father, not everyone has this opportunity so good for her. More importantly, it's good he's alive for her to do this? It's important for a child to hear the father's side, his version I think like myself a lot of children take their mother's side because of what we've been told or see for ourselves but to actually hear why the father did xyz or felt these ways about their child(en) mother things will make sense. Ill never forget a girl I worked w she told me she poked needle holes in a condom bc she wanted to have this particular guys baby and for the life of him he didn't understand how she got pregnant using a condom and she was on birth control - I asked would she tell him she tricked him she said no If I had access to him I would have told him and wouldn't care if it ruined our friendship bc that was wrong and a innocent child was birthed through fraud trickery and likely will hate the father in some way if they're not w their mom kids don't know the difference? the gurl didn't want him to go off into the military or endeavored to make him be in her life I don't remember specifically the order? He was in the military and went anyways and always came back for the baby-- they didn't make it probably deep down he knew something happened I hope he found out but still loved his child through it all

  • @paytonbf1

    Although I don't condone any man that abandons his children, I do commend Alicia Key's biological father for admitting his mistakes. However, it's up to Alicia to forgive her father. And the deeper truth is that Alicia doesn't have to love her father, since he didn't love her when she needed him the most.

    • @PHlophe
      @PHlophe 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      she had the camera in his face. of course he was finna fess up. Plus he has reached the age of dottiness and vulnerability. its selfish to wait until that moment to working thru old wounds.
      Alice is a Momma . when you become a parent you care less about the potency of forgiveness . it becomes more functional. folk need to do better . the best things in life are always free.

    • @paytonbf1
      @paytonbf1 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@PHlophe but again, forgiveness is really for yourself. Therefore, Alicia can forgive her father, but that doesn’t mean that she has to accept what has happened to her. See, what we must realize is that abandonment is child abuse. Therefore, I would recommend any of us to seek therapy if your parent abandoned you during your childhood!
