How good to see a regular loco from my childhood days still performing and looking better than ever. She was a regular visitor to Leicester Central on trains from Poole to Newcastle and Bournemouth to York in the 1960's.
Graythwaite Hall, used to appear regularly, along with Holker Hall they were the regular candidates for the Western jobs. I think they were probably allocated to Banbury shed at the time.
Witherskack Hall was another regular performer, we even got an occasional Grange and one day we had a visit from City of Truro on a special. I have a photo of Truro on the turntable at the south end of the station.
You certainly had the weather for it today, hopefully you had drier feet lol. I see they have put the barrier further up the platform at Oxenhope this year to stop people walking down to the grass. I bet your are looking forward to the crowds tomorrow :)
Yes we had wonderful weather today and they have put the barrier up further as they have got a big plastic water tank on the platform with what looks like a fireman's hose and generator on the floor to fill the engines up with. Not sure if they have a problem with the water tower on the station platform I am going to be avoiding crowds as much as possible plus it's forecast for rain and wind so may put people off 👍
Great days for a gala!
Yep been very lucky with the weather. Don't think tomorrow is looking so good though possibly rain. But we shall see 👍
I hope Sunday will be alright
Sunday is meant to be dry and partly sunny 👍
Nice footage. So strange to see the Loughborough mainstay Witherslack Hall on foreign metals. Looks like she's enjoying her holiday though.
