The artwork in this game is beyond beautiful! The designs of the backgrounds and sprites are not just incredible but capture and represent Japanese artistic design in a way that blends old with the modern! It's uncanny how beautiful the designs of this game are!
The entire game is drenched in Buddhist symbols and old Shinto myth. Hagane means "steel", the life bar is "inochi" and Hagane's weapons are named after the 4 Legendary Kings of Elements (from Chinese lore). There is Genbu the Earth Turtle, Byakko the Air Tiger, Seiryu the Water Dragon and Suzaku the Fire Phoenix. The throwing knives are called Shushaku, or Scarlet Sparrows. It has a cool, Zeiram-style look.
Which Element King was assigned to what weapon, if you don't mind me asking? I didn't know this before. Also, what about that symbol that shows up when you use those all-screen bombs?
Fun fact: The director of Zeiram, Keita Amemiya, was the main character designer of this game. He also directed and designed Kamen Rider ZO, Kamen Rider J, and Mechanical Violator Hakaider
Hell, I love those Dieselpunk-meets-ancient-Japan scenarios. Too bad only very few games were doing it (like Shinobi III, MUSHA Aleste, Sengoku Blade and, of course, Hagane), also - to a certain extend - animes like Ninja Scroll, while quirky stuff like Naruto has now completely taken over the market and also dominates video games in terms of style.
I have a considerable soft spot for the Warrior encounters: the first of which shows up in Stage 2-1, and the last encounter with him takes place in Stage 5-1. Notably, the music that comes up in both encounters. I do try hard not to use Rolling Specials against him in the final encounter, just to drag the fight out a little. But sometimes, an L3 Rolling Special is necessary.
If memory serves me right, one of the guys behind the Namco arcade game, Mirai Ninja, also worked on this game. That game had a certain oddness to it, and was action packed, just like this game.
Hudson developers team "Anybody played some good games recently?" "Contra on SuperFamicom" "Good game. But let's make that a real challenge by using melee instead of guns and add an asian vibe to it. Kids nowadays love their games difficult do they?" "..."
finally the whole game in one video and not a speedrun, I heard this game was hella hard in highest difficulty. I hope to get this game either for computer or for cartridge SNES,I'd rather get emulater/rom since it is easier. Just need to get used to using keyboard or get a controller. I want to get all the bad-ass games and play them out.
Nice. I remember when this game was new, read the review and got hyped. Never got it for myself, though, as games were damn expensive back then - About twice as much (or even more than that) as they are nowadays :( Yeah, yeah, I know: "Use emulators/roms!" :P
Hey Cubex55, you seem to ne a hardcore gamer... Where do you find the time to squeeze in all those playthroughs... And on all those systems above all??? I like what you do though! Now I have plenty entertainment for when it's time to ignore the old lady when she gets on my nerves. Big thanks for that!!
This really looks like a fun game, and my SNES still works. It's a shame that it was poorly marketed in the USA, and now it's rare and expensive as he'll. I got too much sales resistance to drop a few hundred bucks on a game. :P
***** or just emulate it for free, no shipping, no waiting, no wondering if it still works, no hassle of blowing the cartridge, no hassle of finding your SNES and it's accessories, etc.
@@13Gangland Unlike all other SFC games that can be played in an SNES with tabs clipped, for some reason, the Japanese version will not play on a US console. All you will get is a black screen, have read a few accounts of this from fellow game collectors.
Hagane design look almost similar to the Japanese sci fi action movie Cyber Ninja. Wouldn't be surprised if the designer was the same guy. I think you can find the trailer of the movie in TH-cam if you type Cyber Ninja or Mirai Ninja
Spooper Senshi Thanks! :D EDIT: Holy crap! He done alot of stuff that I recognized but never realized it was the same guy! Truly grateful to know the name of the designer!
I would LOVE to play this and demons crest on snes but both games go for as high as £500 which is fucking insanity! No way could i justify spending nearly a grand on 2 games! You can buy a car for that money
hey, let me help you. go on Amazon, order the SNES controller USB from iBuffalo. it's about 12$. and then once you get it Google this game with the word "rom" at the end. you will be able to download it and play with your controller ! even though it's not on the console. I really can't tell a difference. they play so nice.
I started playing it today, and it is a very fun game. One of its main strengths is its controls - you can do a whole bunch of different attacks, and all buttons have some function in almost all situations.
wow so u really do not need any move provided by this game... another thing: the camera scroll made me so mad i had to quit... and the fuckin respawns... wtf? is this nes? RESPAWNS???? fuck this game... it looks so good and the gameplay is so nice, but it is so heavily flawed, fuckin unplayable... playable only on emulator with save states
Mitzos SirReal you just saying that cause it's hard....granted this game is so frustratingly hard, but the good kind of frustrating that I want to try again....tho that's how masochistic I am...
Games like this made you use your brain, and improved hand eye coordination, so really, they were learning tools. Games tough like this were real accomplishments when you beat them.

common themes in japanese games. the 4 legendary kings are the names of attack moves in seiken densetsu 3.

Damn bro by you beating this game without being touched one time makes you the chosen one.
on 19:31 CLEARLY the rockets touch him... hmmm... idk about that... suspicious
It's at least a VERY close call :P
In that stage the hitbox is very small.
XiwantD Only in that stage? That's weird...
Yeah, I beat this a couple months back. I can't even imagine a perfect play through
this game has a sad ending, but I believe this warrior has found peace for his soul in the end.
I totallt agree with u man!
I mean totally
I think the ending actually hints that the world is at peace for hundreds of years and this cyborg ninja is not needed anymore.
it's similar to the ending of Actraiser 2 with the master's statue no longer needed because evil was banished
Hell, I love those Dieselpunk-meets-ancient-Japan scenarios. That anti physics in the air forward roll, lol. Still better than Havok Physics.

One of my favorite game of all Times !!!

This and Mirai Ninja had the same artist behind it. His name's Keita Amemiya and his artwork is phenomenal.
There was a part in 2-2 I could not do. Looking at your video, it looks so easy and I can't remember which bit it was.
Thanks for Long Playing this
Wow, I didn't know Raiden was in this game!
Love it this game is a pain in the butt but you make look like ur eating ice cream thank u bro 😊
Thanks for the video. That stage 2-2 was really getting to me, but now I know how to get past it thanks. This game is hard!
for good reason... this game was a ball buster.
It's like Strider with a Japanese theme instead of Soviet.
This was developed by hudsonsoft, and to me it really comes across as a PC Engine game on the SNES
Hagane The Final Conflict
Is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and AMAZINGLY STUNNING ACTION
On the Super Nintendo 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Damn it, looking back - how did I beat through that hardcore back there in youth?
badass game, badass playing skills!
The SNES had its own Strider game actually :)
Yes, Run Saber.
Just completed this today, a fantastic but very difficult game
Looks like a Snes's Shinobi

FrostGiant yu can
FrostGiant yu can
game critics say that this is the hardest snes game ever
It would've been so cool to have a PS2 era hack and slash sequel like Shinobi or Bujingai
awesome grafix for a snes- game. =D
remembers me on some neogeo games!^^
This game is like the Ninja Gaiden of Super Nintendo.

Nice.
Did this come first or did Shinobi III on the Genesis? They look the same.
legendary
I will never understand how this game is so pricy now

Just emulate it.
Javier Molina Fuck emulation. Just buy japanese version which is less expensive that us version.
***** or just emulate it for free, no shipping, no waiting, no wondering if it still works, no hassle of blowing the cartridge, no hassle of finding your SNES and it's accessories, etc.
+Javier Molina No seriously, fuck emulation, just get the PAL version.
How about you go fuck yourself instead, 13Gangland, you fedora wearing, hipster, elitist douchebag?
Great fun game, is hard also!
Jogo espetacular.
Is there any difference between the JP and NA versions
Vampirerockstar the price

The designer actually IS the same guy. The only reason I'm here is because I love his art.
Spooper Senshi
You know the designer name? I remember almost 2 decades ago, I think I saw some action figures of Cyber Ninjas.
+Hanferd Keita Amemiya.

Thanks! :D

+Vampirerockstar its on www.emuparadise.me/ for free the rom I mean. just read my comment above, the roms honestly play like the originals.
+lllstrikesmember2 www.3-strikes.org Fuck roms, the real games are what counts..
sure I can see that, and if you have the money go for it, but I personally dont want to spend 90$ to get a game thats over 15 years old.
the intro reminds me of metroid O_o
this game looks like a Genesis game, like Shinobi 3 or Alien Soldier
How did you know I was a funny uncle!?
Stage bosses raiden with a golem duo machine monster Kirin wanyudo shura oh and amano ikazuchi
I have a shinobi 3 vibe from that game.

Custom enemies small Kirin karakasa obake ichigo kun rokurokubi snake flying hot dog akaname and corn brawler

So this game has no storyline? Some demon robot ninja came out of nowhere and then died after mission is finished?
Ako je ovo igrano na SNES-u ja sam FAP 1620 !!!
This is a fun looking game. Plus, it's a great value on eBay too!
I started playing it today, and it is a very fun game.
