    The Candidates Tournament 2018 is an eight-player double round-robin chess tournament, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 10-28 March 2018. The winner earns the right to challenge the defending world champion, Magnus Carlsen of Norway, in the World Chess Championship 2018.
    The tournament will be contested as a double round-robin with each player playing 14 games. This means players will face each other twice (once with black pieces and once with the white pieces). Four rest days will take place: after rounds 3, 6, 9, and 12. The winner of this 8-player candidates tournament will be the challenger of Magnus Carlsen at the World Chess Championship 2018.
    The prize fund (Regulations 3.8.1) is 420,000 euros, with 95,000 to the winner, 88,000 to second, 75,000 to third, down to 17,000 for last place. Prize money will be divided equally between players on the same score.

    And in other news, Anish Giri is having anxiety issues over Ding Liren's tremendous form in drawing the games. He's got 11 consecutive draws & will have to see if this amazing form continues. People around the world are already celebrating that We have a New lightweight drawing champion of the world.............Ladies & gentleman, give it up for
    DING LIREN 👏🏻👏👏🏻👏

    It is odd how a theme of blindness is prevalent in the Candidates, there were a few games where double blindness occurred and how the game should have ended sooner. Obviously these are by the games that are covered. There are several games from the Candidates that aren't covered by the larger chess channels because that would be an impossibly tall order to fill. I am not saying this because I think the Candidates are somehow getting weaker. Caruana vs Mamedayrov from Round 10 showcases quite accurate play and that game was covered by ChessNetwork and by you. This is one of the most interesting Candidates tournaments in decades I am sure of that

    I've never followed any candidates before, but it seems like everyone just prepared a lot of opening ideas, and when they go out of the opening, a lot of moves are being missed. Same thing applies in low elo online games, which is kind of funny. Is this a normal thing, or is it the result of too much engine preparation, that shows you best moves imidatelly, which means they learn moves and not how to find them?

  • @PaterTenebrarum1
    @PaterTenebrarum1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What the hell? Ding!!! Nf4? Really? It’s as though he was deliberately looking for the one move that was most likely to turn a won game into a draw, against an obviously hung over Grishchuk, who was easy prey on that day. I‘m just an amateur and not even a particularly good one, but I think that if I had gotten that position on the board, I would have won the game regardless of who the opponent was. What’s especially irksome about it is that there was actually more than just one way to win or achieve a decisive advantage. It’s incredible to me that such a strong player is considering all the alternatives at that juncture and manages to overlook every single winning continuation - after all, it was his bold play that created this position in the first place! Surely Grishchuk was already mentally preparing his resignation at that point. Maybe Ding has placed a big bet with the bookies in London that he would draw his way through the tournament.

    King captures knight is not a draw, knight captures queen is. since according to the rules the game is drawn if you have only a bishop or a knight on the board since it's imposssible to checkmate with only those pieces

    I have to admit that I'm not the best chess players. So my question is if he moves his king to g5, the only move from the knight would be to e7 which would allow you to advance your pawn right?

      Trex All Day Then white has to push g7. Blakc can simply places the knight at g8. If white king attacks g8 knight from h7,h8 then knigt f6. Else if white king attacks from f7,f8 then Nh6. Black just moves the knight back and forth or making waiting moves with the king.

    How do you spell "haircut" in Russian? Some kind of Photoshop monster look going on in that pic. What a marathon. Doggy strikes at the end of the vid this time. Love it. Analysis gets longer and I don't care!

    I don’t think you can ever use the phrase “this would win the game immediately” when referring to any game Ding Liren plays from now on. 😂

    Back rank issues even when the queens are off the board, not what you expect from a grandmaster like Grischuk...
