plotting chaos is soooo real omg. somehow this is still more coherent and organized than when i wake up in cold sweats at 3am to write ideas into my notes app, crusty eyed and half asleep. i wish you the best of luck on your book !!

This was really fun! Excited for more videos like this

Certified pantser here🙋 and I'm outlining for the first time in my life and I'm loving it. I just ignored the advice of every video I've watched on outlining and did my own thing😀. It's been working so well so far. Good luck on your journey to outlining.

    Hello! 👋🏾
Fellow writer here (TV: "Station 19"; Graphic Novels: "Blade Runner: Origins).
I am very often in a similar boat. And youre doing great. Creating those really dope moments as "fixed points" that need to happen and then building to it while writing is how I mold everything. I even outline my books backwards to make sure those emotional moments hit harder.
I can't wait to read it!

As a pantser, I also need some sort of timeline so I can fuck around those events. That kinda sounds weird but I can't think of a better phrase. I use the 7 point structure for plot and 3 act, 9 block, 27 chapters for loose character development and some plot. It's still a big mess but it helps me with making sense of everything. Also, this was the funniest plotting video I've watched and it's been years.

I relate to that feeling of wanting writing to feel therapeutic and fun, and it used to be at some point, but now it just feels hard or worse tedious. Once i wrap up my school stuff i plan on fully re-immersing myself in my writing and trying to get back into feeling like a writer again. As a pancer i relate to your struggles a lot and might to something similar to the post it note method to find some direction in my plot. PS: I'd be so interested in doing beta reading for you in the future!

I feel like I'm watching myself do this for the first time. The sheer amount of things that happened in this video that also happened to me is so funny it's scary.
"Who's texting me?" is one of my favorite parts simply because I have the same problem. Getting distracted is such a time sink it's painful.
I also love the ah-ha moments happening in real time.
10/10. Would watch again. Wouldn't understand, but would watch.

It's a pretty cool layout. I once saw a book I considered buying at a consignment store that explained how professional authors actually write a book-the entire planning process. Unfortunately, I didn't buy it. Wishing I did. I'd like to write a cool historical fiction piece or sci-fi. I'd also like to write a kids book (taught English in China/Thailand).

Also, what kind of mic are you using there? I've seen those around quite a bit recently but can't find out who makes them?

Why do so many people talk about chaos? It was so organised, or maybe just my brain, see it this way. Is it strange that I felt like I knew what she meant with the vague explanatory notes? Or maybe my imagination just collected the breadcrumbs and created a story out of them on its own. Thank you for the video. It gave me motivation and a new way to try again to outline mine own story.

First lemme tell you… you are huhlarious… your f-bombs you dropped throughout your video made me bust out laughing and I had to sub-in… second I was lead to your video and low and behold… I found myself having the same issue the first act. I wanted my first chapter to have the most dramatic scene to pull my audience in but decided to place it the end for a cliff hanger into my next book. 😮 I feel like I messed around and confused myself 😂😂😂😂😂 but watching your video helped me figure out act 1. All them f-bombs helped 😂😂😂… good luck with your writing. Thank you for sharing.

Dear Gina: New Subscriber, here 👋🏽 😅 ...Your 'reac' to Peter Jackson's (almost 23 yrs old; still impeccable) film adaptation of 'The Fellowship of The Ring' won me over. Naturally, upon noticing the thumbnail to this video, I had to click...
As a fellow, would-be/aspiring author, I'm quite often drawn to videos such as these -- videos that offer a glimpse into process and workflow...
Note: As I type this, I'm only about a third through your video, but I would like to offer some resources that have helped and continue helping me:
▫️'Story -- Substance, Style, and the Principles of Screenwriting' by Robert McKee [[[ ...Please don't automatically dismiss this (( absolutely amazing, worldview-upending )) treatise because of the word 'Screenwriting' in the title. It's not just a how-to on screenwriting. In truth, it's a how-to on art and craft of _storytelling_ ]]]
▫️ 'Save The Cat -- The Last book you'll Ever Need on Screenwriting' by Blake Snyder [[[ Just like my first (earnest) recommendation, 'Save The Cat' isn't just about writing screenplays, but on how to craft compelling and gripping stories for _any_ medium and genre.
▫️Diane Callahan's 'Quotidian Writer' channel -- Personally, her channel is one of my favorite resources and/or go-to's for helping me try to better wrap my head around certain mechanics/nuances of the craft of writing and/or story development... or when I may feel especially underconfident or disheartened (more than usual... which is often)
I hope that any of the recommendations/suggestions above may indeed be of (at least some?) irrefutable use in your endeavor!!
BtW: I signed up for your newsletter. _I would be delighted -- and honored -- to be afforded the opportunity to become one of your beta-readers!_
