They really are that good! I bought an 03 Mille R on mint condition, 10 years ago for £2750. Last of the gen1 bikes with the radial brakes, 57mm tb's etc. Absolute bargain and my favourite bike I've ever owned. Other bikes come and go but the Mille has a home for life.
There's so many of these secondhand for crazy cheap money. I sold my RSV4 a few years ago and regretted it ever since but i'm definitely considering a Mille as my next purchase.
As we've got used to buying different new bikes, it sometimes feels new to ride an older bike. Also, in some ways, a lot of (not all) the changes to bikes in the last 15 years have been cosmetic or user-interface technology. Numb Knob on the tank is even worse in leathers...!
I wonder if bikes have actually gotten any faster in the last 15 or so years. The bhp figures have gone up but the amount of electronics to control the power has increased
I'd love to put a new bike and an older one around a track with a good rider to see how close they are! Use every BHP of 140bhp odd.. or struggle with electronics to put 217bhp down

@@paulred158thinking the same thing. Technically only gen 1 called Mille. Gen 2 are just called R and Factory. Had a Factory back in the day and great fun.
Had a gen 2 tuono for 11 years .. if you cant live with the low bars @Sam Vincent the Tuono is a great shout
Had my Gen 2 Factory 18 years. Had loads of bikes. But this I keep. Says it all.
It's definitely a special experience riding it! Bet you're glad you kept it especially with the prices of them slowly going back up

Sold an 04 Factory for £4k back in 2009 and they never really seemed to change price much in the 15yrs since!
I'd honestly expect it to be worth double that nowadays!

Dealer networks for Aprilia are the main thing that put me off. Still not a huge amount better now!

Mr pedantic here It's not a mille he got a good deal there i paid 4.2k on my 06 tuono.
Not sure the difference. I know it's not the R model but it comes up as a RSV 1000 Mille when you put the reg in on reg checkers/insurance
