Well, not thanks to this game. Every mission is the same: "Great job out there, but the Wolves outsmarted us once again, somehow, so we lost." Like, the entire Jade Falcon campaign consists of your side losing despite your efforts, because cLaN wOlF mUsT wIn.
Sure, the graphics look like something I drew in AutoCAD. Yes, the MIDI soundtrack has become nightmare fuel in its old age. Yes, you pilot French-designed paper mechs that drop their weapons at a moment's notice. Those stories between the missions, though. Someone cared enough to make a compelling piece of writing to place between missions, knowing lots of players would simply skip it. That's called passion & dedication. Clan Ghost Bear. FTW.
Loved this game and the Battletech animated series!! All that bothers me now as an adult a bit is that in the intro, the guys fighting don't really sound Clan-like. The individual Clan "mini intro's" when you select a faction sounds way more clan-like :)
Wasn't a Clan engagement or talk at all despite then piloting Clan omnimechs haha. They would never have used the one Timber Wolf as bait to a trap, that's dishonorable. Would have gone more like "this is Alpha Assault of Clan Wolf, I am approaching your position in a lone Timber Wolf, who opposes me?" "Alpha Assault of Clan Wolf, this is Summoner 1 of Clan Jade Falcon, we are two Summoners and accept your batchall, we will engage you mech to mech in an honorable duel if you accept these terms" "Well bargained and done Summoner 1, I accept these terms"
The intro cinematic always makes me go "what". He ran out of ammo for the machine guns...but I imagine his PPC's had recharged and his heat couldn't be that high. Why not use the PPC's? Yea, he was very close, but that didn't matter in the game
Also, why would you even go into combat with what you were told was FOUR enemy Summoners when you had like 150 rounds of ammunition 😂😂. It was pretty silly.
Maybe it isn't that thrilling to imagine yourself as an employee of Galactic AT&T. >>We accept your batchall. A representative will arrive at your location between 8AM and 6PM on Thursday.
How did you achieve such smooth framerates whilst not breaking the jump-jet recharge? It's been my experience that setting the cycles high enough for a smooth 60 FPS will stop jump jets from recharging and possibly cause a few other issues.
Yeah that's buggy as heck. I actually experienced it quite frequently when I was doing my practice run (no recording), but not too much when recording, for some reason. Don't recall doing anything else in particular. Can't really answer you.
Hi! Thanks for being here and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! In the short term, I will finish the MechWarrior series (up until MW4). After that, maybe I'll do some games requested by viewers. In the long run, I can't tell for sure tbh, but definitely playthrough of games that can be run nicely on my current PC so I'm somewhat limited to playing older games.
In the books Clanners insult one another like this often. Some of the Clans have structural society not unlike we do now, but are more rigid and professional about it. Calling another clanner a "freebirth" means that you think low of them. Like the same way calling them a 'Surat' (an animal native to falcons homeworld) means you are annoying, but not as bad as being called a Freebirth.
What is that godawful music at the command center segments? My copy way back in the early 90s did not have that and it was way better for it -- just the ambient noise of the holotech, etc. Something they added in later with a revision? Terrible choice.
This was my favourite tactic in 1995. Load a Nova up with all lasers and shoot the enemy legs off. Glad to see it's still popular lol
Did the same thing!
Makes me miss the Battletech VR center in Chicago. Always the highlight of any visit to the city!
Back in time, i played this on a 100MHz Pentium with 16MB Ram and a 600MB HD Windows PC. Thx for uploading.
That OST tho. My god it's a work of true genius.
And we won’t even know their name
Right? It occurs to me that it could and SHOULD be modded into mw5:mercs. If it hasn't already been..
@@seanbrazell7095 Too bad MW5 can't be fixed ha
@@seanbrazell7095 This is probably way too late, there is a MW5 mod that adds Timothy Seals' remastered MW2 OST from around 2013.
@@majorinconvenience Well, the latest information I have is that Jeehun Hwang made most of it, under Gregory Alper
Thanks for using the proper aspect ratio.
Who else wanted to be a mechwarrior when they grew up?
Lol, I remember being a kid and in my head being like "Primary objective... reach bus stop... successful. Proceed to mech hangar for shut down."
I still.want to

1:24:55 "Strike a Wolf RESUPPLY BASE in the rear, deep inside the Great Gash." Yeah, they were writing the story with "passion" alright.
@@ktakashismith well they did make this game using the Falcon & The Wolf sourcebook (that depicted for tabletop, the Refusal War)

Kinda wish you wouldn't just fly through the mechs like that. You can take your time man.
ahhh, yeah that 10 weapon limit...

i think that the mech was supposed to be a Gargoyle (by having dual arm ballistics) instead of a T-wolf

I have a feeling in all the clanner playthrough they all got their ass kicked by Comstar why didn't they do a Comstar playthrough.

This is one of Tex most the despite groups that and the smoked jaguars.
What??? Did he call the cadet a "freebirth"? If someone calles me freebirth I would reply "you are a vat born virgin"
But you don't wanna make him mad in his home or he will do bad things lol
Do you not accept my batchil.
@FATEd Pondera uh huh a bit savage much? O_O

Wow first playthrough in 2021.....I am impressed, they just might make a Mechwarrior of you yet Freebirth scum...:)
No power rocks are safe after detection.

How did you play it? Did you use dos box?
Yes DOSBox
I gotta say, after 2+ hours, its starting to get somewhat painful to listen to that menu/hangar (?) music...
Anyway, thanks much for the video!
Jade Falcon clan did nothing wrong. The Battletech TV cartoon is justbinner sphere propaganda.
Hears laughter from Comstar wizards.

I will never not watch this intro.
