Glad to hear you've found a blessing in MTBing. Chattanooga is great place with some very good riding. I used to live there and loved the trail system at Southern Adventist university. White Oak or Biology trail, one of the two. Keep going at it man and you'll continue to grow that success. Cool thing about TN is riding is pretty much year round. Ride on...

Brian, I gotta tell you, last year I stumbled upon your channel and you really inspired me to get into mountain biking. I am an athletic trainer - I specialize in sports medicine and outdoor adventure sports. I train a lot of rock climbers and MTBers but I never got into biking for some reason, just climbing. I really loved the idea of bringing a bike with me on climbing trips for rest-day adventures but after watching your videos I just fell in love with the sport. I learned to build MTBs, built 3 up this summer and then I got an Ibis Ripmo AF as my first bike once I was 100% comfortable building it up and maintaining it. I have a whole room in my house I converted into a shop! I think you really showed me how far and remote MTB can take you, and you helped me appreciate the adventure it can provide. Ive met many local MTBers on the trails and gained new clients, experience, and I even started a series for training MTBers on my website - helping correct overuse injuries and muscle imbalances related to the sport. Anyway, thank you so much for jump-starting this chapter of my life! Keep on keepin on!

As someone living in Vegas I see where you're coming from, but it's not a bad place if you stay as far north or south of the Strip/Downtown as possible. Unfortunately the hiking/biking/off-road stuff around here isn't as much of a hidden gem as it used to be, so there's never a guarantee that you'll escape the crowds.

Head on to that Walmart and grab a jug of those purple ear plugs. They work wonders for car camping/ camping in general. It may feel odd the first night or two having them in but once your asleep you’ll sleep way better because you won’t be hearing all the noise. I always have em in when I’m car camping.

You need some sleep check into a camp ground before you fall off some mountain edge . My friend and I were sleeping in our car on a road trip in Richmond VA about 2:30 am we had a lovely high speed police chase rip past us and wake us up 😂. So the next nigh we tried to check into a camp ground the guy at the check in hut had a shotgun and overalls on took one look at our New York State plates on our car and called us goddamn Yankees ! We moved on and slept in our car again 😂 Safe travels another great one Brian . Nothing wrong with a fried Oreo once in a while 😂

There are two ways to get to Alaska by car. One is driving but be prepared to carry extra gas. Or you can take the ferry from Bellingham Washington that takes you to Juneau and then another ferry to Skagway. It is basically a 2 day trip one way

Hey Brian. I travel a lot for work and some hotels are really loud. For sleeping, I use Bluetooth earbuds with ocean ways or rain forrest sounds . I have the Jabra Elite Active 65. Pricey but worth it. About $175. It's easier to sleep with than the bose headphones. I actually ride with one ear in sometimes when I ride alone. Keeps me grooving. I leave the other ear out incase someone comes up behind me or whatever.

I haven't gotten over the boondocking anxiety either despite having done it on and off for years. Last night, I was at a trailhead in the middle of nowhere near the Oregon-California border and a car goes by on the dirt road at 1:30am. I had just gone out to pee and the interior light was on so there was no way they didn't see me. I start to wonder if they're gonna come back and give me shit. They didn't but between that anxiety and it being around freezing w/ no heat, I couldn't get back to sleep for hours. I'd stay in campgrounds more but at this time of year very few campgrounds are even open.

Salt Cycles finally has inventory two years after the release of the Ripmo. I ordered my Ripmo from Salt Cycles in early April when the bike was released. By late July I still didn't have a frame and my order would have come around late August/September. Salt Cycles showed no concern that I'd miss most of the riding season. Any communication had to be initiated by me and the shop wasn't proactive at all. In the end I had to purchase my frame from a shop in California (Bikeco) who treated me like I thought my LBS should. The owners are nice, but if a product is back ordered I'd look for another shop.

It's 25 here in Archdale NC this morning, that's COLD here--I wanna see it hit above 40 so I can get some miles on my new RM instinct BC, I can tell you ate age 64 when I don't ride for a while my fitness/endurance plummets, like you say 'fitness is rented' and I say the payment is the exercise... WOW that's a sick/dangerous trail, the guys you hook on your rides are excellent
