When I was a kid my neighbor owned a machine with tracks and whenever my brother and I wanted to play in the dirt he would offer his track machine and we would go to town cleaning the tracks lol.. Kept us busy and now I realized why he would laugh and offer us money hahah! We were just having fun! I never realized it was actually helpin him out!

Did a job a couple years ago, all mud !! Got tired of shoveling, grabbed the water wagon and a 2in hose. Yep well worth hauling it around!!!

I could watch this stuff here all the time. 👍🏼 fascinating to see how powerful these machines are!! They just throw these trees around like they're nothin! I understand it's soooo dangerous what you do, and I have so much respect for you guys. Stay safe and please keep 'em coming!!!

The struggle is real. Cleaning those tracks reminds me of cleaning ice out from under a snow plow truck in Michigan. I had a digging bar made out of a torsion bar that came out of some old Chrysler. They used to drag those trucks in the shop and want them fixed with so much ice caked on them you couldent see the undercarriage and want the transmission pulled out and fixed ASAP!

Cottonwood is probably like the Chuck Norris of loggers... his tracks never need to be shoveled out.

  • @j.b.maxwell8695

Tim you need a 3ft deep creek to drive through every couple of days to wash the frames clean, but then you would miss out on all that exercise of digging em out.

That Echo might have something for that 394. Man I saw ya pause for a second cleaning out those tracks. If ya think like I do, majority of the time I'm thinking"there's gotta be a better way" Wife always tells me to do yoga with her,I'm like "baby if you follow me and do what I do all day, last thing you want to think about at end of the day is doing yoga.

Should see if Milwaukee makes an air chisel type substitute. You could modify a longer end with a + shaped end on it. Spur of the moment idea as I was watching.

Tim, I feel your pain. I had forgotten about the difficulties of cleaning tracks. Just think , "it could have been worse", it could have been 100 degrees....lol! Thanks for showing the not so glamorous side of logging, if that side exist!!!!....lol
Btw, rain is coming, it rained here this morning and its thundering at 3.30 p.m. now. ....13

Man there was a lot of mud stuck in that undercarriage. From what I understand, that wears out the sprockets and rails of the undercarriage. Like mud wears out u joints and bearings on wheeled vehicles.

  • @denicefithian1328
    @denicefithian1328 5 ปีที่แล้ว

If you pressure washed those tracks would it just make it worse by making all the mud wet? Just tryin to think of another way to do that.. Def looks like a workout!! As if you don't get a hard enough workout just doing your kind of work all day!! It'll keep ya in shape that's for sure! Great job Tim! I'm impressed!

Try using a digging bar when dirt dried like that the heavy bar does most of the work not beating your brains out with light shovel....ive dug my fair share of dried mud tracks myself works for me you might give it a try.....

You need to have a 100v or 240v supply generated by that machine. You could then plug in a concrete breaker to do that job.

  • @daleryba4462

Hey Cottontop.. how about trying the M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1 in. SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer.... $299 tool only at home depot?? Could break thru and make it easier to use the tile spade to finish it up... just thinking??

just a SUGGEATION BUT A 2 POUND HAMMER AND A LENGHT OF IRON PIPE MIGHT BUST UP THAT DIRT AND STUFF IN THE TRACKS EASIER THEN YOU COULD SHOVEL IT OUT MUCH EASIER

  • @kevinr.lemieux9982

Man I can't believe how that soil down there is like concrete when it drys can you lossen it up a little run it back and forth then lift one track at a time and run the track around to kind of vibrate it a little and then dig out the rest of the way

would a spud bar (crowbar) be a help in clearing 'el concreto'. Be a lot more sturdy than that garden spade. 13 mins watching a guy clear dried up mud outta the track frame.....I don't feel so bad having to walk around a warehouse with purpose now LOL!!!

He is obviously not my employee but he seems to be a decent employee, Cheaper then losing him for months on the job because he cut his face open? On the other hand maybe he just don’t take care of his equipment and new saw would end up just like the one he has, in that case go for it chad.
