I liked at the beginning how they put 2 different reactions together and was just displaying it showing how different they were. One was theorizing what the would happen in the game, and the others were just enjoying the song.
I honestly like this format, my issue with reaction mashups is that i cannot focus on a single face or voice, but i still want just the highlights from different people

Yes, S1 was as you say more emotional, but that is due to the fact that you did not realise what was happening and were not familiar with the idea of these games. Once you get used to it there is only so much excitement that could be generated by the director, which is why they went in a different direction
Real question is could another VIP be among them along with the frontman. Apparently from what I learned watching another reaction the actor playing player 125 is also the same actor who wore the stag mask in the VIP episode of season 1.
