Last thing…when Mitch does “the puberty thing” with his voice, he is flipping from his mix to his head voice. He’s just doing it noticeably as opposed to smoothly. It’s an artistic choice as Mitch is very good at flipping almost imperceptibly when he wants to.

Kevin and Avi (and now Matt) work very closely together to get the background beat. I understand that on many songs they come up with their part first and then work the voices in.
Kirsten, Mitch and Scott have known each other since they were in musical theater together, around 9-10yrs old. They became known as the Trio in high school. So they've been harmonizing since then. In order to be on the Sing Off they were told they needed 5 members. So Scott saw Kevin's channel on You Tube and asked him to join them. Avi was a friend of a friend of Scott's in college, and was asked to join ,so now they had the 5.
I love how much you love them! This is a real feel good one. Watch Can't hold us for another feel-good one. What Mitch is doing with his voice when you said it was a bit like a musical version of a boy's voice cracking when it breaks is flipping between his chest and head voice. If you want to see a masterclass in him doing that and other crazy things, as one of your other commenters said, watch Gold. I would recommend watching the original version by Kiaara first so you can fully appreciate what Mitch does. In the original all of the effects are done digitally and with auto tune whereas Mitch does it all with his voice. Awesome. They are all phenomenal. I'm in the UK and will see them live for the first time next May and I can't wait! 😊

Kevin and Avi (and later Matt) have often been described as 'the meat and potatoes' of a Pentatonix song, working together to provide the solid foundation for the vocal layers on top from Kirstie, Scott and Mitch. Looking forward to seeing you react to 'Amazing Grace' (bring your kleenex, you might need them -- it's a heart-puncher!) I'm also hopping you'll react to some of their original songs in the future as well. It does take a lot of reactors a while to get to them -- I think it's because PTX's covers are sooo good, they worry that their original stuff is going to be a let-down by comparison. I absolutely hated the original of this song, but it’s one of my very favorite PTX covers. The beautiful Mitch smiles and singing just melt my heart. I just love the mix between the five of them and all they bring to the table and the thought that goes into arranging the songs to make it the absolute best version it can be. I am happy to see you appreciating my very favorite band of any genre. No one else even comes close in my heart.
They don't record anything that they can't perform live. Mitch is a high or counter tenor. He was all in easy chest andba mix here, not even too much head voice. Kirsten is a mezzo soprano. Kevin is a Tenor. Scott is a baritone with a sick range and Avi is a bass (technically a basso profundo) Matt is a bass also.

I absolutely hated the original of this song, but it’s one of my very favorite PTX covers. The beautiful Mitch smiles and singing just melt my heart. I just love the mix between the five of them and all they bring to the table and the thought that goes into arranging the songs to make it the absolute best version it can be.
I am happy to see you appreciating my very favorite band of any genre. No one else even comes close in my heart.

Mitch is a high or counter tenor. He was all in easy chest andba mix here, not even too much head voice.
Kirsten is a mezzo soprano. Kevin is a Tenor. Scott is a baritone with a sick range and Avi is a bass (technically a basso profundo) Matt is a bass also.
