KKK in the U.S.: Racist people(that's all that I know) KKK in the Philippines: Are heroes who helped free the Philippines from the Spaniards during the Philippine Revolution
You forgot one thing: They flip the flag depending on the state of the nation. Under peaceful conditions, the blue must be on top. If the Philippines is in a state of war, they flip the flag in a way that the red stripe rests topside.
I would like to add some meaning on the colors of the Philippine flag which weren't mentioned int he video White: Equality, liberty, fraternity Blue: Peace, justice, truth Red: Patiotism, Valor, Bravery Also the red and blue colors may be interchanged when the country is at war.
Never knew you'd make a video about the Philippine Flag! And you explained it very well too! Though as some people may not know it, in times of War, The Red Part of The Philippine flag should be at the top and the Blue top should be at the bottom (Basically Inverting it) signifying that The Philippines is in a State of War
Dude I'm filipino what your saying is supposed to be offensive your like questioning my culture besides blue means peace red means war and that sun means freedom if the red was on top that means that were ruthless, heartless, unforgiving people who always fight But blue goes on top and red on the bottom our flag symbolizes that peace is more important than war and plz don't just say put the red color on the top
Uhh Im a Filipino as well I don't know if you saw that "some people" on what I said. I didn't say every Filipino doesn't know it. And also, that comment is meant for those people who probably doesn't know that. It's not like everyone in the world knows about it.
Andrei Dela cruz That comment wasn't offensive at all, and was only stating a trivia fact about the flag. In its early history, the Philippines did use the flag with the red on top since its early history saw it fight multiple wars with foreign powers. This is most notably the Philippine Revolution, the Philippine-American War and the Second World War. The reason why the "war" color is even in the flag in the first place is because it defined the early history of the Philippine Republic. The other person is only saying that if the Philippines were ever to find itself in a "state of war" again, the flag will be inverted to reflect its current status.
*Clearly, you weren't able to understand that he said **_in times of war_** the red panel of the Philippine Flag is placed on top. If you are truly Filipino, you would know that is one feature of OUR flag. Only the Philippines does this and is incorporated in law. However, Bulgaria also inverted its flag during military operations in 1879 and again in 1945 in an unofficial capacity. Technically though, the Philippines is the only country that OFFICIALLY inverts its flag in times of war.*
Fun fact: I'm a Czech and my name is Filip (Philip) and the Philippine and Czechian flags are very similiar. The only difference is that Czech flag doesn't have the symbols and the blue and white are swapped.

the United States did not help the Filipinos during the Philippine Revolution against Spain. the Filipinos were already fighting the Spanish heavily during the war and the Americans were just waiting on the sidelines until the Filipinos won the war against Spain and that's when the Americans waged war against Spain in the Spanish American war. To make it look good for both Americans and Spain because there were already the global talks of the oppression from both Spain and America, they instead masked it as a sales transaction with the United States buying the Philippines from Spain for a mere 20 million dollars when in fact the Philippines have already gain their independence in the Philippine Revolution against Spain.
Yes USA was just onlooker in the war our great heroes fought so hard with blood and famine RIP to all of them we so loved them all our great KKK soldiers

It will be unfair to the christian majority of the philippines if the cresent moon of muslim is added, it will be unfair to muslims if a cross of jesus is added to the flag to ......for me there should no religious symbol representing the flag for its equality for each religion
I would like to see the Pure Christian Philippines. It wouldnt be fair to the Muslims cuz they are just a minority. The Majority can decide what the flag design be. If they complain, i would tell them to remove those Islamic symbols in the middle eastern flags. If they say that they have the rights to cuz they were the first to come here, then ill tell them that the middle east was a Christian Region before Islam ruined everything.
This is what I am thinking about. The flag doesnt represent any religion at all. Instead, it represent us being Filipinos. The problem is that some muslims down south doesnt want to acknowledge that because of the pride that they didnt concede to spain and that they are being treated as second class citizen.
if you guys knew "the complete history" of the Philippines, I doubt you would still say the same. I also don't think a crescent moon should be added but atleast add a 9th ray to the sun to represent southern mindanao areas that always resisted spanish control by also spilling blood. Just because they are not with katipunan doesn't mean they weren't constantly fighting off the spanish as well.
The muslim community before(i dont know now) where siding to the Malaya group( a political group by race, religion, power) of Malaysia/Indonesia. They have their own agenda. And I think Jose Rizal are also pro-Malaya.
Unfortunately, this video is wrong. The Spaniards exiled General Aguinaldo to Hong Kong and he made the flag with the help of three women (Agoncillo sisters and Jose Rizal's wife) and the inspiration of Greogorio del Pilar's tricolor. White: Purity of intentions Blue: Nobility Red: Justice and Bravery Blue over red: Country is at peace Red over blue: Country is at war Triangle: Equality 8 rays of the sun: 8 rebellious provinces 3 stars: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao- the three main geographical divisions of the Philippines The Magdalo flag and the Magdiwang flags were flags of the two divisions of the Katipunan. USA was more active in the Philippines during the Japanese time NOT the Spaniard time. The USA was never mad at the Filipinos for having their own flag, in fact, the two flags were hoisted side by side. If there is a group of flags in the Philippines, The Philippine flag should be in the center. If there are two flags however, the Philippine flag will be in the right. If it is a time of mourning, the Philippine flag is at half mast. Also, I rate your pronunciation of the cities and provinces 5...out of 10
Actually USA did not allow the Filipinos to raise the First Philippine Flag, because they think it resembles revolution againts them, in 1919 Commonwealth era, US flag and Philippine Flag are finally raised side by side, considering the Philippines is a Economic Colony of the United States because the Philippines was the only Country to have a stable economy because its economy is tied with the US making the Philippines Rich and foreigners began to move to Manila and other parts to work mostly are from China, South east Asia, India, Japan, Korea and Australia, The Philippines back then was like Tokyo mixed with New York but it is less populated, but due to the War, it's economy went down and the US broke the tie which connects US's Economiy to Philippines leading to a major catastrophe, but the government managed to lift it, when Martial Law was declared the Economy went down but infrastructures and improvement in the Nation Continued, The Economy after the Martial Law went up because of selling former infrastructures during Martial Law to rich companies, and now to the present day, the Philippine economy and flag stands
2:13 Philippines wasn't " ceded " At that time, the philippine revolution was already in full swing. They kicked the spanish out of manila. The spanish ceded territory that did not even belong to them anymore. And then the americans lured the filipinos into thinking they would get independence and them BAM! Philippine american war! 1 million filipinos died but americans are so good at covering up history. Almost everyone will say that philippines was handed to america, but they forget the brutal invasion caused by the americans
@@shianeruu4359 The americans invaded the philippines. You know what invasion means? Intruding onto other territory despite them opposing. That's invasion

Karl Puno Well, the Ku Klux Klan and The Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga anak ng bayan is a 2 unrelated organization/group, so the revolutionary KKK of the Philippines is not offensive to the African-American people.
I disagree with the addition of the Crescent Moon. The Philippines move forward/stay to secularism. Our current flag didn't even have any symbolisms/representations of Christianity (although some might claim that there are), why would the Muslims? They want their religion to rule over our land?! Edit for clarification I guess?: I'm pretty certain that the Philippine flag was made in secular intent. So - unless there is a significant reason to add the crescent; if it symbolises something important in Philippine history or culture - adding it would only seem out of place. It doesn't help that the crescent is stereotypically Islamic.
if you knew "the complete history" of the Philippines, I doubt you would still say the same. I also don't think a crescent moon should be added but atleast add a 9th ray to the sun to represent southern mindanao areas that always resisted spanish control by also spilling blood. Edz S. Interesting. So, how do you propose to handle the current situation comrade? Given that the president has now signed the Bansamoro? Will we wage an all out war with the muslims. Until the country crumbles into chaos and disarray?
Jojo Dino III did he say that anything about islam should be eradicated? why are you insisting to add an islamic symbol to the philippine flag?the flag itself doesn't symbolize religion or has anything with religious symbol to begin with. masyado kayong pa-importante mga muslim, mga kulang s pansin. duhh!

Revolutionary Flags of the Philippines are dope! Too much history in those flags. And yeah, you forgot about the unique use of our flag during "TIME OF WAR" (red on top) and "TIME OF PEACE" (blue on top) .
Other than what was mentioned in the Proclamation of Independence back in 1898 (re: the colors used being based from the colors of the US flag), there were different interpretations behind the colors' symbolisms with the blue=peace/red=war and patriotism, etc being the most consistent but I'm guessing it was never placed into official writing until years later the following century.

@@klm20079 But if that happened, we would have to surrender Mindanao to Malaysia. Which wouldn't make sense. They already took Sabah. Besides, what shape could we make with only two stars? We COULD move the star off-center, but still. It just isn't worth it to give our Muslim citizens to a predominantly muslim country...
Also, They can't go BACK to a Muslim country since they never part of one. The only other way I can make sense of that (asides from "surrender of Mindanao to Malaysia") is making them independent, returning them to the previous "Sultanate of Sulu" and "Sultanate of Zamboanga". But that wouldn't make sense as well since would make them vulnerable to the ISIS. If, instead of the two sultanates we made the entire Mindanao into an independent "Moro Islamic Liberation" that could make more sense. But then again, there's the vulnerability to ISIS...

Spanish-american war, but it wasn't american at all who fight over spanish, almost were filipinos, because we filipinos wanted the peace for our country that even fighting till death we'll do, but after that war, american colonized the philippines, but they say that americans colonizing the philippines had a good result, philippines' technology, vehicles, ways of communicating and culture are updated and better, but at the end of the day americans fooled the filipinos😐😕
Didn’t the Filipinos tried to side with Americans to gain their trust and slowly gain their independence and control over their country? By fighting alongside Americans, they can show Americans that they can fight for their country and be independent, without their help.
@@meoviona yes, filipinos fight over spanish with the help of americans, but my point here is just it wasn't spanish-american it's more like Philippine-spanish war.
Exactly, people often forget that Filipinos back then were just puppets of their American overlords. Ofcourse historians would call it the "Spanish-American War, since the US sent troops and machinery to fend over the spaniards, while also using the current native population.
There are more changes that happend to the Philippine Flag between WWI and the present design being used; this included the Katipunan Flag with the “KKK” and even a black flag with a skull.

Having a huge Filipino population here, I learned a lot about the flag and it’s meaning (in which I previously didn’t know), in this video!! Thank you and aloha.
The three stars represent Luzon,VISAYAS and Mindanao. PANAY island is one of the many islands in the Visayas. How do I know? Simple. I grew up there. And Yes, that's where Boracay is. Thanks for the other infos tho.
You grew up in Panay but sadly you don't know the history of your place. Historically, the three stars only represent Luzon, Panay and Mindanao and not the whole Visayas. Because only Panay joined the Revolution of 1896. The original flag was to commemorate the revolutionaries.
the history of the philippine flag actually which is mainly unstated elsewhere is that the colors were adopted from its historical two stripe colors of the spanish provincial ensign of manila which was simply a white over red flag like that of the polish flag but with a swallow tail design. you may see this same ensign carried by spanish colonial cavalry painted in manila in old illustrations. the kkk katipunan revolutionaries were then influenced by cuban and puerto rican revolutionaries and masonic ideas. all 3 countries in revolt against the fading spanish empire adapted the same design which was to add a masonic triangle on the hoist side. this is still done even by catalonian independence activists since their flag just added the masonic triangle too. through the republican revolutionary ideas influenced from the american and french revolution, all 3 countries of cuba, puerto rico, philippines used the iconic 3 colors of blue, white and red. you will notice that all 3 flags of these countries just alternated the 3 colors with the color of their stripes and triangle. in the philippines though, before the blue stripe was adopted, the cavite mutiny before the 1896 revolution used the white and red provincial ensign of manila. when the 1896 revolution came in, some revolutionaries in manila sewed in a white masonic triangle over this white and red striped ensign. you can still find this flag which some american soldiers stole as souvenir in the philippine american war before. it had the 3 stars on the triangle's corners and the mythical sun of may (sol de mayo) with face. before and during the american colonial period, the blue part was sewed in on the upper stripe since the masonic triangle was already white. this ties in a little bit to the white over blue provincial ensign of iloilo too but it was also american influenced since it is a republic borne out of the revolutionary ideas from the american and french revolutions. the shade of blue was sometimes changed for various reasons by presidents and politicians.
I really do appreciate this video! I would like to add additional info for your video. The Philippine flag was used differently when in peace or by war. Wen the country is at peace, the Nation's flag is flown with its blue flyer on top while at war the red flyer is flown on top. The sun's rays represents the 8 provinces that Spain issued Martial law during the Katipunan revolution spearheaded by Bonifacio. that may be a reason the government stated that the muslim and Visayas revolution is not included in the rays and Mindanao withdraw their petition to be part of the rays. The 3rd star is not particularly representing visayas but Panay Island which is part of the revolution and the Sulu sultanate representing the island of sulu. Thus concluding that the stars represent the 3 main islands of the Philippines that revolted against Spanish colonialism. Rumours stated that the Flag is inspired by Agunialdo's most favourite general, Gregorio Del Pilar, which the boy general took inspiration from the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags. Then while in excile and his planned junta in hong kong he added the sun and the stars in the white triangle and changing the colour black to white and shifted the colour of red and blue as flyer colours than that of black. The Sultanate of sulu was the only successful revolution in mindanao to contest Spanish presence in mindanao as Muslim warriors learned from revolutions in luzon of how spain treats the natives of their colonial territories in luzon and visayas region. Same goes to the Highlands of Luzon. the ifugaos and the aitas which are native to the mountain region of luzon are the most fierce fighters and spain failed to establish towns in the mountain region of luzon. This was also the reason why Gen antonio luna decided to have a Fort established in the mountain area and where Pres. E. Aguinaldo decided to retreat. Unfortunately, he was defeated and captured.

Rent payment stopped recently. The best way to get rich and have Sabah to join voluntarily. I think Sabah can do that under the Malaysian Constitution. (Assuming they did kicked out Singapore). Unless Sabah does not want to join and remain Malaysian, leave Sabah alone. Philippines is technically richer than Malaysia even at the distant future but with 23% poverty rate vs 0.4% in Malaysia, Philippines has BIG gap on wealth distribution. If we want war though, we might get a lot of sanctions by other countries. All countries recognize Sabah as Malaysia. Unless we have sympathizers, war would bleed us dry even if we beat the Malaysian Armed Forces (currently, we can't). Edit: I believe Sabah should be a Philippine territory. But we cannot force them.

Zionian NotSoMapperAnymore Actually as far as I can remember these are the actual meaning of the colours our flag has; White represents the katipunan flag symbols, liberty, equality, and fraternity Blue is truth, justice, and peace Red means valor, bravery, patriarchy, and war. The reason red means war is because our flag usually has the blue on top of the red, they flip it so that the red is on top of the blue when we're at war.

Fun fact: There’s a law that describes how to display the flag. During war, the red field is on top and if displayed horizontally, the red field should be on the left side of the observer. In times of piece, it’s the other way around. If displayed horizontally (both in peace and war), the white field is on top.
The KKK in the philippines means Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangan, Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan which means Supreme and Venerable Society of the Children of the Nation. Not the ones wearing white robes.
Additional info. The flag can be used to identify if the country is at war/peace. If the blue color is on top over the red, that means the country is peaceful with another nation. If the red is on top over the blue, it means the country has declared war or is at war. That's as far as I know I can remember based on our Philippine History class.
Panay was the most prominent island in the Visayas region. The island is also home to the Madya-as confederacy which was at perennial war with the Islamic sultanates long before the Spaniards landed in Philippines. Though they lost their independence, it can be said that the establishment of Spanish government is a historical victory for the Madya-as confederacy compared to the islamic sultanates who are antagonized and treated harshly by both colonial and republic governments
I don’t know if somebody already tip you this? But all I know is that our flag can be reversed being the red part on the top and blue on the bottom. It just means that country is at war and if it’s on a horizontal position the blue is on the left and red is on right side.

It will be unfair to the christian majority of the philippines if the cresent moon of muslim is added, it will be unfair to muslims if a cross of jesus is added to the flag to ......for me there should no religious symbol representing the flag for its equality for each religion
かわいいあな Absolutely.
Agree on this. We are a country who values different religions and beliefs. Religion should not be represented in a flag.
I agree the Philippines should remain secular. The separation of religion and state should be impose.

Blue: Nobility
Red: Justice and Bravery
Blue over red: Country is at peace
Red over blue: Country is at war
Triangle: Equality
8 rays of the sun: 8 rebellious provinces
3 stars: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao- the three main geographical divisions of the Philippines
The Magdalo flag and the Magdiwang flags were flags of the two divisions of the Katipunan.

Also, They can't go BACK to a Muslim country since they never part of one.

My teacher said that thr color blue in our flag resembles *Peace* , the color red resembles *war* (during war, the Philippine Flag is upside down) white resembles, cleanliness. The 3 stars is for LuzViMinda (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao) The 8 rays is for the 8 provinces or lalawigan.
Also it doesn’t commemorate the USA
Right. Most countries have red blue and white on their flags....ex. RUSSIA , number one enemy of united states
EXACTLY
Zionian NotSoMapperAnymore Actually as far as I can remember these are the actual meaning of the colours our flag has;
White represents the katipunan flag symbols, liberty, equality, and fraternity
Blue is truth, justice, and peace
Red means valor, bravery, patriarchy, and war.
The reason red means war is because our flag usually has the blue on top of the red, they flip it so that the red is on top of the blue when we're at war.
Yay I requested
The unique quirk about the Philippine flag is that in times of war, the flag is flipped over so the red is oriented up.
Hi im a filipino i want to tell that if the our filipino flag has been up side down that means theres a war coming
Now you KNOW.
During WW2
Philippines: (Flips it's Flag)
Indonesia: Cool let's try that
Indonesia: (Flips it's flag)
Germany: (Accidentally invades Indonesia)
The IGE: uhhhhhhhh. Well this is awkward
I remember sheldon cooper
Thank you so much, Catriona!
If always waving the Philippines flag
Fun fact:
If the red part of the flag is on top it means the country is in war
He doesn't -know how to pronounce them properly- have a filipino accent
HeyItzRane ofc he doesnt and thats alright
And is that wrong? Of course foreigners will not always get the accent right. Just like many Filipino will not get the other cultures accent. It's natural.
@@kornkernel2232 but Filipinos will always mock these foreigners for not being able to pronouce local words..
okay, so???
it ok naman eh even americans who lives here like for almost all their lives like my classmate still doesnt kno how to fluently say Filipino words and its kinda ok
Fun fact: There’s a law that describes how to display the flag. During war, the red field is on top and if displayed horizontally, the red field should be on the left side of the observer. In times of piece, it’s the other way around. If displayed horizontally (both in peace and war), the white field is on top.
Yay I am philipines
Yeah I'm live in the Philippines born in the Philippines but I look like an American
Bobo. Mali grammar mo
Sooo, we live on you???
Basta ibalik nyo na ung Nueva Ecija

Sabi nya nga eh"panay which is also called visayas"
@@RikoClawzer ano ba sabi ku
@@RikoClawzer sabi ku lng visaya is a common name than panay
Dati Panay Islands ngayon visayas
There is no need to state your nationality
You missed 1 very important information, when the flag displayed upside-down, red on top bottom blue, mean the country is in state of war.
No the first flag of ph is KKK (not KKK of America)
lol there gonna misinterpret that
The KKK in the philippines means Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangan, Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan which means Supreme and Venerable Society of the Children of the Nation. Not the ones wearing white robes.
@Your Typical Pinoy Make a video about it then hahahaha
I mean they both wore white robes
Where’s Katipunan flag?
ORGANIZATION man lang yung katipunan hindi naman flag sila.
@@monarchmagdangalcadiz9768 bobo may flag rin sila.
You right bro, KKK=Kataas-taasan , kagalang-galangan , Katipunan
Because of them Philippine flag is not exist and Ph use the flag of KKK official once
Mr. Pineapple In the Philippines the KKK is history.
Mr. Pineapple wait how did you reply so fast are you also in the Philippines??
Additional info. The flag can be used to identify if the country is at war/peace. If the blue color is on top over the red, that means the country is peaceful with another nation. If the red is on top over the blue, it means the country has declared war or is at war. That's as far as I know I can remember based on our Philippine History class.
General Knowledge : "misprounonses words and names"

My Future sister-in-law is from the Philippines. 🇵🇭
Isn't it Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao why is it Luzon Mindanao and Panay
before represents Panay of groups islands which what called Visayas on 3 stars are 3 main islands called Luzon,Visayas,Mindanao exist.
Because the panay was the original name of visayas
@@BlitzZ_7043 my father said that Panay is part of the Visayas
@@Fish-kz8xw yes
Panay was the most prominent island in the Visayas region. The island is also home to the Madya-as confederacy which was at perennial war with the Islamic sultanates long before the Spaniards landed in Philippines. Though they lost their independence, it can be said that the establishment of Spanish government is a historical victory for the Madya-as confederacy compared to the islamic sultanates who are antagonized and treated harshly by both colonial and republic governments
Where is the KKK flag... 😂😂😂
People would just think the klux klux klan or something
Yeah
@Sinag Sarita Carriedo anyway you can see it at the origin of the flag in the video
It already showed the flags of factions within the Katipunan.
*OMg kkK iS RasIcT*
I don’t know if somebody already tip you this? But all I know is that our flag can be reversed being the red part on the top and blue on the bottom. It just means that country is at war and if it’s on a horizontal position the blue is on the left and red is on right side.
