It was so pure to see how happy the groom and bride were to hold each others hands for the first time. I wish them nothing but the best for the future.

Marshmallow 24, you quote from the video "‘But it doesn’t say do the dishes’ 🤣🤣" My response, yeah, I need to get my wife to watch this video. I am Jewish & my wife hides her Kesuba from me despite my pleas for her to show it to me. This must be the reason, so I can't prove it doesn't say that. :-)
He veils her to see that it's really her, this is derived from the deception Leah and Rachel perpetrated on Jacob. He was supposed to marry Rachel, but Leah was the older, so they put a heavy veil on Leah and she married Jacob. He had to work 7 more years for Rachel's hand. The two constantly fought over Jacob's attention. The ketubah, wedding contract, actually includes that the groom has to satisfy his wife in all ways, in addition to providing her with food, clothing, and a roof over her head. The broken glass not only "seals the deal," but reminds us of Jerusalem, which has not been totally rebuilt yet. Wedding processions in Jerusalem only include one single instrument (often a flute), to indicate that our happiness is still incomplete.

As a person who grew up Orthodox but went my own way as an adult, I still find tremendous beauty in the way the Orthodox world dates. It's truly the best. You talk about ideals and morals, and you try to see who your most compatible with first. Then comes chemistry. Chemistry can be built, but not compatibly
see, I wish more people could see just how beautiful, deep and meaningful our traditions are. also i love how he is actually jumping when he holds her hand for the first time lol.
This was beautiful. I come from a Buddhist family and I had very little knowledge on Jewish traditions. Love this series. This ceremony was very beautiful and meaningful.
The fact that she said that almost made me cry bc all she really wants is for them to be so very happy together and isn’t that every parents dreams for their kids?
This is wonderful.. This whole series is so wonderful! I love the part "Hadassa is so pure in her love for God... It.. Makes me want to strengthen my walk with God even more... This is so beautiful😂 ... I'm not crying! You're crying!!
If you read the Bible you will gain a better understanding of how God desires a marriage to be. They have it beautiful because they followed God's commandments. Jesus has so many beautiful illustrations about wedding. He Himself said He is the bridegroom and the church is His bride and He laid down His Life for her. He constantly points to wedding references to help us understand how deeply He loves us. It is super beautiful

No really. It is SO true! Very very similar and it doesn’t end with weddings. I’m orthodox and I feel very very connected to Muslims in a lot of ways, we live in very similarly guided ways. 💜

6:18 the broken glass doesn't seal the deal ( it already been sealed with the ring in the Huppah). The broken glass is for remembering Jerusalem and the holy Tempel that been destroyed.
A truly touching way to honor the memory of a place that holds such meaning. It is always good to have traditions/symbols that are deeply rooted within our culture(s)/communities to keep us together like this.
I was looking for this comment! can't believe they didn't mention that and didn't show the verse said before smashing the glass ("if i shall forget thee jerusalem..."). it's like the most iconic part of the ceremony!
My husband and I had a courtship based on purely getting to know each other for the purpose of marriage and waited for intimacy until after we were married Personally I wouldn’t have it any other way. The body grows old, passion starts to die down, but it’s that person, the personality, the ability to communicate with your partner that is what should last a life time. Pure love based on principle.
I absolutely agree!! A relationship based on respect, communication and similar values can last. That’s not to say the physical isn’t important- attraction is also a must, but when your relationship is based on deeper things your attraction will last regardless of what happens to the physical body over time 💞
missrivka770 I don‘t see how having a physical relationship before marriage would change anything negatively about the depth of the feelings two people have for each other. I‘d be more concerned about marrying someone I haven‘t even known for two months... but that‘s where religious and cultural beliefs seem to be different for everyone...
maknaesugerpoint I didn’t say that?? I just said that a relationship based on respect, communication and similar values is one that will last the test of time. For me personally that meant leaving physical to last, but I am very aware that there are other ways to go about achieving the same goal
Beautifully done video! Quick correction: the breaking of the glass doesn't make anything legal (the signatures and witnesses in the contract make it so). It is done to remember the destruction of the holy temple, even in the most happy times.
From my understanding that's actually a modern reinterpretation and the original symbolism was the breaking of the hymen (loss of virginity). With changing social conventions such frank open discussion of sex is rather taboo and it became more popular to describe it as a pious tradition rooted in Judaism. I do like the sorrowful rememberance idea but I think the more direct virginity symbolism is a lot more likely. Or the real reason may be something else. Also, the purpose of the seclusion period was traditionally to consummate the marriage. When the couple emerged, they'd be fully married.
I love this new series you guys are doing. Seeing different cultures show how their religion or culture celebrates is something that’s so interesting! It shows that in this world we all come from something and we all should embrace it💓

They say that we marry our soul mate; my wish is for everyone to be reunited with his or her soul mate. It may be old fashion, but i love that jewish moms , aunties, grandmother pretty much play match maker . I think it's safer, saner and definitely more wholesome than say, meeting some random guy and hoping for the best. May this couple be blessed and fall more and more in love each day !
What a beautiful wedding. I love all the traditions. I went to Jewish wedding once and I had so much fun. Very cute couple may they have lifetime of happiness.
Hadassa’s mother is beautiful, I love that she chooses the head scarf instead of a wig... not that there’s anything wrong with choosing to wear a wig. She just styles her scarves so well and she looks so young! The bride is just like her mother :) This whole short documentary was beautiful and very well done. I love the part where her husband comes to the Bedeken and starts dancing in front of her. You can FEEL his love for her. I’ve probably watched this over five times already!
Very nice. I am Muslim and I just attended a Jewish wedding. It was beautiful and lots of fun. I find the traditional aspects of the wedding to be interesting and lovely. It's nice to see that there are young people who find being modest and keeping themselves pure important when so many people today are about doing whatever they want to do without holding onto any kind of morals. Congratulations Hadassa and Zev! I hope you have a long and happy marriage. You make a beautiful couple.
I held my husband's hand for the very first time when we exchanged vows for our wedding.... on December 24, 2016.. (I'm a Christian!) and there are no words to describe the intensity of that moment. I'm so thrilled to see a group of people celebrating marriage this way! God bless you all. Shalom!

What I found extremely enchanting was the sense of "community." Though thought of as a rather strange part of society, these Jews look so united and happy, like there will ALWAYS be someone there to count on, whatever the situation, where ever, when ever. That's probably the strength of tradition in this respect; in a way(depending on your own frame of references,) to be envied...Thank you for sharing this with those of us who are not Jewish and/or Orthodox...rr Normandy
Yes you are correct. If a person in Sweden or anywhere in the world is sick, having surgery, was in an accident, knifed or shot and prayers are needed the request will go on whatsapp throughout the world UNITED in prayer. That is my people.
Judaism is much, much more than a religion, or a group of weird sects living under one roof. Most of us frown upon the orthodoxy, or much worse, the crazy Chassidim. But I will defend the Orthodox and their intolerant ways to the end. Despite the enormous diversity within the Jewish "community" world wide, our support for each other and our brothers and sisters in Israel is indisputable, and we have proven it repeatedly since the founding of the State. The Chassidim may look down their noses at anyone who doesn't fit their mold of Judaism, but me, I figure if you were Jewish enough for Hitler to want to put you into a gas chamber, you're good enough for me.
That's not what a badeken is for. Badeken comes from Bodek -which means check in hebrew , as in to check that she's the right one. It dates back to Jacob and how his father in law tricked him with leah at his wedding instead of rachel because she was veiled. Since then jewish grooms veil their own brides to make sure it's the right one. ;) weird but fun none the less.
Rose Kahn yep you've got a good point there. they also got wrong the part with the two mothers breaking the dish it's not about making it legal it's just a symbolic gesture but overall they showed Orthodoxy in a positive light by the way I don't think the groom veiling the bride is weird I think it's very romantic! that's from a guy's perspective
Badeken is a Yiddish word. It does not come from the word bodek. I don't know if Sefardim have badekens but if they do, I guarantee you they dont use the word badeken. Askenazim have badekens, which means to cover, to remind us that a Jewish women, especially a married one, is supposed as modest as Rivka, our Matriarch who covered her face when she saw Yitchok.
Rose Kahn, you state "That's not what a badeken is for. Badeken comes from Bodek -which means check in hebrew , as in to check that she's the right one. It dates back to Jacob and how his father in law tricked him with leah at his wedding instead of rachel because she was veiled. Since then jewish grooms veil their own brides to make sure it's the right one" My response, your reason is correct but your source word is not. The word badecken is Yiddish. It means "to cover". But as you said, the face is covered by the groom himself for the reason you described which relates to Yaakov and Layah. (Jacob and Leah) One other point, under the Chuppah the chusun (groom) actually takes a quick peek at his kallah (bride) just to be sure it's really her. The veil used by the kallah in the video at this wedding was kind of strange since it was see through. The whole point of the veil is to NOT see through. My kallah's veil was so thick that she had to be led because she literally could not see through the veil.
Rose Kahn interesting theory, thanks. The groom valing his bride is practiced in the Eritrean Orthodox Christian culture but is becoming rare. Its beautiful.
I always thought orthodox Jews were weird but now I have a new found respect and who cares if it is weird I do weird things all the time. Their traditions are beautiful.

I agree that this couple is lovely. I wish them well and having grown up orthodox i can tell you it is not all so beåutiful. when i was growing up there was terrible sexism and racism, tons of abuse of women and children, lousy atitudes towards non jews, and lots incest. i think this is common whenever the religion is too strict whether christian jewish muslim etc. this is lovely video and the reality is much more complex
This video is so beautiful and pure. I’m Christian myself and seeing the differences of how Orthodox Jews celebrate their weddings is very interesting. I live in MD myself and there is a large presence of Jews and getting to understand their culture is a pleasure:)
@@tragicallyhoney the rule is its not advised but its allowed for men only. This is because men are more dominant and their children will follow their dad's religion most likely. It's not allowed for women because of the same reason which is that if a muslim woman marries a christian man, the kids will most likely be Christian because of their dad

I love the wedding ceremony. Not only that, but tradition offers stability, guidelines, nurturing, an expression of love within the primacy of religious faith, planning, community structure. There is also built in respect for the physical body and the experience of sex the meaning of childbirth. It's quite lovely imo.

I am an Iranian & I love people like you, the lovely family in this clip. I cried a little as I was touched by the beautiful and loving things done throughout the ceremony. My parents & grand parents also went through the same kind of tradition, in the old fashion Iranian style. Watching this touching ceremony reminded me that how good it is to stick with God & family & do the right things. The world outside, has become quite bad & scary. This video brought tears to my eyes but not from the video itself, but from the heartwarming beautiful comments. We are all just human and all love in the comments from Jews and non-Jews alike just gives me hope for peace on earth.. Even if it's not in my lifetime, it'll never be too late.
This looked like a beautiful and meaningful ceremony! I think many of the Jewish traditions (originating in the Old Testament) capture the humility, awe, and rejoicing that the children of God should experience and express. Sometimes I feel like I'm missing out by no longer including them in Christian culture nowadays.
Thank you for this video! This video actually made me realize that religions are more similar than they are different. There are a lot of elements that are very similar to Islam. I would love to see a Muslim’s wedding.💕💕

As a person who grew up Orthodox but went my own way as an adult, I still find tremendous beauty in the way the Orthodox world dates. It's truly the best.
I wish everyone took marriage this seriously. God Bless you with healthy and holy family . 😊👏👏
+victoriayost Thanks for sharing! :)
Amen!!! I love it, I'm doing the same thing.
I was always taught that the glass meant "what is done here, can't be undone"; haven't heard of the temple version.
Paelorian
No, the seclusion period was to be as long as that consummation could last at minimum. But the actual consummation was and still is, later.
You know, my grandmother said it was to chase away the evil spirits. Go figure.
I was taught that it symbolizes the end of single life to begin wedded life. Smashing the old to start the new.
I love this new series you guys are doing. Seeing different cultures show how their religion or culture celebrates is something that’s so interesting! It shows that in this world we all come from something and we all should embrace it💓

You got learn from another man's mistake...😉😉
Whats with the people disliking this? Are you that unhappy with your own life? This people are happy, let them live. Let us live

This video is so beautiful and pure. I’m Christian myself and seeing the differences of how Orthodox Jews celebrate their weddings is very interesting. I live in MD myself and there is a large presence of Jews and getting to understand their culture is a pleasure:)
“In two days, Hadassa is marrying a man who she’s never held hands with, let alone kissed.”
*-Laughs in Pakistani Muslim-*
And Indian muslims as well
Muslims in general
@@shaziab3753 wdym no, it's a rule in islam
@@inquranwetrust6035 oh can a Muslim marry out of their religion? I need help
@@tragicallyhoney the rule is its not advised but its allowed for men only. This is because men are more dominant and their children will follow their dad's religion most likely. It's not allowed for women because of the same reason which is that if a muslim woman marries a christian man, the kids will most likely be Christian because of their dad
As a traditional Hindu, I can appreciate this sort of stuff. Beautiful wedding!
This one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen. The symbolism and meaning behind every single portion of it was so sweet and meaningful.
What a beautiful couple and loving families! I'm so happy for you and congrats
-a Muslim here
This was such a beautiful wedding and video! I love seeing Jewish weddings! I’ve shared some photos of mine on my channel and it’s so interesting to see how other Jewish people celebrate 🎉💕🎊

Jesus will come back and kick your ass.
My Jewish Mommy Life These people are KHAZARS. They are not the real Jews. They are from Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary...etc

They seem to really have a spark & connection- blessings for you two and your family!
It's so beautiful and Elegant Wedding ❤ I am watching after 6 years it is such a different feeling I am smiling throughout the video
This was so beautiful, I actually cried. Their love for God and each other is wonderful.
You rock refinery 29!! Thank you for showing their lifestyle in a positive light!
i think it was the mother of the bride? she's dressed so nice, she looks gorgeous
Lisa - I've seen her tichel/head scarves videos here on youtube. I didn't realize she was old enough to have a 20 year old daughter!
As a Muslim Guy I like this almost same to us. It’s like one of us getting married 👰.
You see, God wants you to see. Your enemy is just like me. He loves you. And died for you. Rise with him brother 🙏🏼♥️🌹

I love the wedding ceremony. Not only that, but tradition offers stability, guidelines, nurturing, an expression of love within the primacy of religious faith, planning, community structure. There is also built in respect for the physical body and the experience of sex the meaning of childbirth.
It's quite lovely imo.
Wow what a beautiful couple I’m Muslim and This just made me so happy I love learning about other religions and cultures ! Hope you guys had fun it seemed like an unforgettable day wishing you the best, a lots of happiness and positivity ❤️❤️
It's so interesting learning about other cultures and religions and their different traditions. I'm so glad you all make these videos! They brighten up my day
Really appreciated the sanctity of marriage modesty and celebration. I am a Muslim and feel that I understand the Orthodox Jews a little more and appreciate the similarity in our way of life and practices.
“when i get to hold my wife’s hand for the first time, i’ll be jumping for joy!” i thought that was just the cutest thing ever
The feeling of community and everyone coming together and truly enjoying the wedding is such a beautiful sight to behold.❤❤
PS: em' dance moves be dope
I do t know why I’m crying right now. So precious
I am from south of India. Thank you for explaining the traditions of a jewish wedding. Filled with deep meaning and also fun at the same time. Such a lovely couple. Wishing them the best in life.
+deepikavijai So glad you enjoyed!
I'm an Orthodox Jew and i love weddings so much,
They're just so emotional...
But these are Ashkenazi wedding traditions.
They do vary
Sefardi weddings are EPIC
Potato Grol are you Jewish ?
Hasidic?
are orthodox Jews allowed to use the Internet????
It really depends
I am an Iranian & I love people like you, the lovely family in this clip. I cried a little as I was touched by the beautiful and loving things done throughout the ceremony. My parents & grand parents also went through the same kind of tradition, in the old fashion Iranian style. Watching this touching ceremony reminded me that how good it is to stick with God & family & do the right things. The world outside, has become quite bad & scary. I could feel the light of LOVE among this very lovely & respectful family. The MOTHER OF THE BRIDE looks like an angel 💚 I definitely sensed the great light exuding from this wonderful lady. The bride & her family are so blessed to have her. With all my heart I wish you all the wonderful & kind people, all the best 💚

I'm a Roman Catholic Christian and I really have an admiration and respect for the Jewish traditions of marriage and such. This is a beautiful representation of this.
I am a Christian, but honestly, what a gorgeous and meaningful ceremony this is. Lovely! 💖
Mazaltov Hadassah and Ze'ev! May Hashem bless your union with love and happiness and lots of kids!
and lot of money
Thank you so much for uploading more World Wide Wed videos here on TH-cam! I absolutely love watching them.
I really appreciate the amount of respect afforded to each of these world wide web ceremonies. Absolutely love this series!
Islam in not the culture nor the tradition .
In fact torat, bible and Quran is the holy book from almighty
We accept Abraham ( peace upon him ) as messenger
We accept prophet Moses ( peace upon him ) is the messenger
We accept Jesus ( peace upon him ) is messenger
The only difference is
prophet Muhammad ( peace upon him )
Is the last messenger of almighty god .
Once you accept prophet Muhammad ( peace upon him )
then
There is no difference in Islam and Jews .
So I love torat and accept this the holy book from god like holy Quran .
I invite all Jews and Christians brothers and sister to accept Islam and die on imaan ( true faith )
God give you straight way and enlighten your heart 💓

Nice explained video for others to understand traditions and orthodox culture. I liked the homemade challah sugar explanation.
I wish all people involved a nice happy healthy wealthy life and blessings.
Ayat Abuagla beautifully said . Often as Muslims we are looked down as we are conservative. But as this video shows and the one for Mormons there are many that are just as conservative. We are not alone . ❤️🙏🏼
By the way Mashallah your name is beautiful as well
Right? They're all very similar. That makes me wonder
sarahm108 exactly!!!!

This is so beautiful 😍 I’m crying 😭 and lm not even Jewish ... I love their love for God
