    I have a similar project underway in West Sussex. It's 4.5 acres of a much larger 125 acre woodland. It's was over planted with non native spruce. We are in the process of planting 8 native species.

    So happy this post popped up this morning, it has restored my faith in human nature with so much pain in the world. Inspirational mini film which unlocked some deep seated emotions. Well done and I really hope others are inspired to have a go! Like the old adage “build it and they will come “ 🥰

    Wow! A-ma-zing!! Brilliant video on a wonderful project. If only we could multiply this across the country as a matter of urgency. As a volunteer ranger for an AONB in the South West, I know this type of effort is essential to help our wildlife recover and thrive. Well done all.

    "..For the enjoyment and recreation of parishioners, but we've got to bear in mind 'parishioners' consist of humans and wildlife..." That statement really hints at the true value of the land we claim as our own, and the consequences of our management of it. We're so far conditioned to a narrow, anthropocentric perspective that the intrinsic value of wild spaces requires an unusual degree of insight. Congratulations on another thought provoking film, Abbie.

    Trying to do the same with the 6 acres around my home. Plenty of piles of brushwood and compost heaps but no hedgehogs. Would be delighted to re home some.

      Get rid of the badgers if you are serious about hedgehogs

    • @hotelsierra86

      @@johnstockburn6396 One evening a few years ago I was watching three badges at the back of my house when a hedgehog came wandering by. It snuffled across the grass between the badgers who never gave it a second glance. I know that badgers can unroll hedgehogs,however these ones didn’t seem to be interested.

    For your bats, roosting space is of central importance. So is feeding (hunting) space - any bodies of water nearby ?

    Theres definitely been alot of positives out of all this rewilding stuff, I mean things like puffins also covered marvelously by this channel sea eagles are starting to increase and beavers last 2 talking about Scotland but the more we rewild the better it gets for all these species and many more species

  • @theotheseaeagle

    It's really funny, but good gamekeepers have been doing this stuff for years?

  • @paladintrueknight

    I think you should have held off on doing this video until the bats are in and you have that footage. Then it would be a success story instead of just a plan. "Plan" videos should be shorter, like news segments, and success story videos are deserving of being 20+ min. long.

    • @AnimalEducate
      @AnimalEducate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Didn’t you watch until the end? It is a success story. Hedgehogs have been released and other wildlife are using it as well as bats. Even if GHB don’t use it as a roost it’s still a success. Thanks for your feedback but I disagree… plan videos are just as important! Plus who’s to say we won’t do a follow up…
      The point of the film was to show local communities what they can do, give them ideas and inspire.

      @@AnimalEducate You are spot on! Personally I LOVE watching all the planning, preparations and finally making it happen! Step by step with comments what they got and what they wanted to achieve. That was the whole excitement of it. I love being a part of the whole journey. THANK YOU! A pleasure to watch...xoxoxo
