I moved out over a year ago (Summer of 2020) and began renting a place of my own. It was quite nerve-wracking. Turned out to be the best decision I've made in life so far!!!

Biggest risk. When I was in college, I was working on dams in the summer. I hate heights. I had to make a small repair to the spillway of one dam that was 60 ft/18 m above a bunch of rocks. There was water going over the spillway, so I had to wait until there was almost no water going over. Each week for 3 weeks the water was going down. On the 4th week I had to do it or not. I went out and repaired the damage. There was no room for mistakes. The next week I discovered I'd done the work incorrectly and had to repair it again. I did that, ensuring it was right and would stay, and it was good! I hate being 3 feet above the ground. Here I was 60 feet, and it really was all up to me. Best thing I ever did. RISK.

I made a risk when I moved to Seattle from Texas after I was broke, suicidal and homeless. I got lucky, had a friend who wasn't living in their apt so I took over rent with one month free. I walked for miles risking my feet and back (first learned about sciatic pain haha) but I found a job and paid rent. I got a better job, then another and another then decided to open my business. Now I'm a 1/3 homeowner in Seattle just a few minutes from the beach. My business just hit 100k in gross sales and my cost of operation is about 30% so I am no longer broke and I have assets now that will only appreciate.

A risk I took was leaving the military. I had a lot of fun moments but many service members stay in because it's safe (ironically),
    consistent bimonthly paycheck,
    set daily schedule,
    3 meals a day,
won't have to worry about getting fired over shitty work,
    automatic 401k contributions
and are told what to do and how.
I knew prior to leaving the dangers I would need to embrace transitioning back into civilian life.
    Lack of purpose,
    you set your schedule,
Returning to the same shit you've been doing prior to the military,
Getting into trouble with the law,
    risk of losing your job,
    inconsistent pay check,
    lack of physical fitness,
    no 3 meals a day,
    Lack of recognition,
no one cares about your problems, no retirement,
    no accountability,
no one looking over your shoulder telling what is right or wrong.
But the singular best thing I got out of leaving the military is.....
    Choice.
The choice knowing I can set my schedule, how much I can make and etc. The choice knowing I don't have a contract hanging over my head.
Choice knowing my time is not the government's time.

RISK. I've always seen myself as an enabler of great things and throughout my career, I've seen the massive success of others through my ideas and quick-thinking but also spent a lot of that time being anonymous, feeling like an imposter, like I was not worthy of great reward, and just plain old "happy to have been part of the plan". The result was a feeling of being left behind or cast aside.
This video has hit home for me on a number of levels. I am literally starting over from scratch, pushing all my chips into the table. It's time to win.

  • @juliengaspillo1876
    @juliengaspillo1876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

No. 12: The risk of being yourself is so true.
I felt like, I am not free. Once you get the recognition of people you felt the pressure to act the way they wanted. They want you to be this, or that, or anything that you're not. I felt that pressure and to think what I would choose, to be myself or pretend where I'm not happy. You're constantly having the confusion of who am I. It is so hard and sometimes, I like to shut myself from the world, constantly reminding myself of my values, who am I, reflecting everything I've been doing.

  • @windcrow5751

The last time I took major risks was during 2020. I had to go through a lot of major issues, but I kept pushing through the pain and anxiety and have come out better. The only thing that stopped me was my physical limits based on my cucrent circumstances. Honestly I'm still pushing: the situation and what I need to push through is what has changed. I think that after these 3 years now is the time to relax in order to grow more naturally. My being cannot keep this type of growth up indefinetly but I know I did my best and I will never give up. No one can say I did not put my being through the absolute shit, constantly to the point where now everyone is telling me to STOP XD. I know that the guilt I feel relaxing or not doing some things I used to is important, but now is that time since I am coming into a new stage of growth in my life that will lead me to success and a new situation where I can build generational and inner wealth of being. Thank you Alux for being there to give the hard truth that is so desperately needed for young people like me.

One quote from Richard Branson on failure is "I’ve had many challenges - every entrepreneur does - it’s the nature of the beast. It can be a challenge not to let failure, or negativity from others, prevent you from going after what you believe in"
Facing the negativity from other people and not allowing it into your life, be it from family/friends or even a stranger on the street is a tough challenge, I'm facing it right now, I'm at the next stage of my life, I know what I want in life and it will involve risks and failure to get there.
But I ain't giving up, no way, the outcome of me giving up is something that's just scary and I don't want that.

    Risk.
I left my job, my car, and my home i paid off recently to help remodel a home. Learning how to at least maintain my investment. My house was built in 1901, so I've learned a lot so I may help it last another 100 years. Once I get some things fixed, I plan on renting the place while I work on finding a new home, as well as scoop up some of those 40+ acre properties for less than 50k.
Also taking risks in the stock/crypto exchange. The only regret I've had with investing so far, is that I did not have more money to invest with. Thanks for the videos, and advice. Some I've naturally picked up and knew to be true regardless of what others say, some I questioned, and others you have opened my eyes to.
Lastly, since I was a child, I've always wanted to write a book. I've got ideas, but for some reason it seems getting what's in my head onto paper is more of a chore than anything else. Possibly because I created too big of expectations along the way.

2 months ago, I quit my permanent contract job while having my first kid on the way, opting for a new position at a year contract with only marginally higher pay (it differs a max of 30 euros per month) but in the field I've been wanting to get into for years. Decided to flip the proverbial bird(it all went professionally) and to choose for myself, even at the risk of unemployment with a baby coming.
Couldn't be happier I did it, enjoying my work so much more! My wife recently commented I actually smile when I get home these days.

Risk ... The last time I took a risk was 2020 April at the start of covid. I went online and completed the necessary work to become a security guard. Most jobs require one year experience in the field when I had spent the last 3 years being a waitress. It took seemingly forever, until October, before I was issued my guard card. Now I have a job I love and am willing to stay with hopefully until retirement. By the way, I do get really encouraged listening to these videos to give me a necessary positive mental experience to be constantly learning new things. Thank you and your videos are the best. I bought a number of residential plots near to my city in 2013. But technically those were in the village area. Everybody told me that I was a fool. My rich cousin told me that people who sold me those land must had reasons & they weren’t doing any mistake, I was.
Cut short, in 2019 I finished paying all my installments & got my plots registered. In mid 2020 those plots were included in the city corporation extension areas. Price is already hiking & I'm expecting in a few years it will multifold.
Thing is that when I booked those plots back in 2013 I thought if the city wants to grow, this is the most probable direction.

Do you know the risk on being at the top that I learned the hard way? It is the risk of having no friends. Everyone was waiting for you to crumble, waiting for you to mess up. Everyone who praises you, will ridicule you so fast you felt so betrayed. I've always been so sad because everyone who seems to be so wary of you. They changed. First, they would treat you right because they didn't see you as a threat, but once they feel like you're much better than them, they'll do everything to knock you down, discourage you, everything. If their mentality was to become the same and try to improve, the world will be a better place.

We want to move back to where our family is around us and to do that im going to take the RISK moving there myself for a better job and get us an apartment suitable for raising our little one. Our relatives around where we currently live gave me harsh criticism after having shared this idea with them because It will take 4 to 5 months until she and our baby can move in with me. There is much better clientele potential at our destination (we're both independent contractors). They criticize me but I must not choose the comfort of home from a better choice.

In 2018 I was offered a bigger responsibility in my job, because of my dedication and performance. Initially i was afraid of the change thinking i didnt have required skills, somehow I got the courage to take the risk. I learnt the skills required and performed well in the new role. Now in 2021 I am voluntarily leaving the current job to take another risk in my life. When I look back now I feel I won on the thing that intimidated me once.

I'm taking a risk right now working on my car! I'm retired and on a fixed income so I can't always afford taking my car in for service. My ABS Brake System just went out and it would cost thousands to get it fixed at a shop. I invested in some tools today and ordered a remanufactured part that cost less than a new one. Years ago when I had little money I began to do independent stock trading and built my account from $0 to $300,000! I lost most of it in the crash of 2000 but it taught me that with big risks come big rewards!

Amazing!! Indeed one of my favorites. I believe we are at constant risk from the moment we open our eyes until they are shut again. However the most life fulfilling moments are in direct proportionate to the level of risk. But not everyone can tolerate risk or better yet the worry and anxiety that comes with it. But I do believe and I have seen it that if you don’t take the right risks when you know the reward would be greater; time will fly by you and that, you can never take back. And the regret that comes with it will haunt you for the rest of your life. Best of luck to all the risk takers out there.

I prepared my speech as if it was a Ted Talk, on the day of the speech, it went perfectly as planned and since that day, every time they had a speaking part in a programme, they'd ask me to do it.

I wouldn't trade the memories we made for anything. Like just imagine that: you're in a totally foreign place where you don't even speak the language and something as great as that happens.
