Just for the physicality side of things Patricia Routledge must have been exceptionally fit. She always seems such a delightful lady.
She so determined. Her expressions. So crafty she is. 👀
Patricia is a gem, and she is definitely the core of what makes this show work so well; having said that, the cast that supports her is crucial and, to me, irreplaceable. As an American, I can honestly say this has been always in the top five of my favorite comedies.👍👍❤️
This is a relatively simple show yet it is hilarious! The writers are brilliant! We need more of this.
I always wondered how Hyacinth thought she was going to get away with stealing the car.
Only one writer wrote the whole series and it was it's creator, Roy Clarke.
They didn't steal the Royce. She just wanted to go for a spin.
Didn't steal the car she took it for a test drive and she allwas planned to return it.
People may not understand but using someone's car without permission us grand theift auto.

LOL. I had an aunt like Hyacinth who was always pretending she and her husband had more than they really did. My mother would say how hard a full time job it was to constantly put on false airs like that. This scene was certainly living proof! :D

I loved the one where Hynacinth is trying to impress Mrs. Fortescue, and she heads to the pub with Daisy and Rose, that was great.
Probably the episode that almost made me die of laughter was when Richard had gout (according to Hyacinth) and he was driving their little blue hotrod and he was missing every gear and they were grinding, ha ha ha ha

I love this episode. On Sky they have every single episode and all the Christmas episodes and side episodes. I've binged watched them all lol.
Pretty much all of the British comedy around this time was great. I watch it all, though this one and "As Time Goes By" are two of our favourites.

I was blown away. And several comments my British friends would make, along the lines of “oh I know someone who is EXACTLY like her!”
That’s why it was so popular as it drives right into the British psyche in ways we’re not always comfortable with.

This episode was filmed at thw Walton Hall Hotel which is in Warwickshire and car dealer where they took the Rolls Royce is I think a car dealer that is based near Solihull.
presumably why they gave Hyacinth the canon maiden surname of "Walton" in the "young" series!
God I miss old British programs. The world grew up to much.
Most interesting: 2:07, the Rolls Royce, SA33 number plate. Doing a road tax check, this plate is now registered to a green Volvo. First registered in December 2006. MOT and Road Tax currently up to date until June/July 2020 this year!!
