  • Boxing is more about being prepared rather than having an elaborate collection of 5 line macros. Big macros have their uses but the basic gameplay can be covered by very simple macros in this video.

    Thanks for the video I've been trying to figure out casting macros for years I watched several other people's video and all they did was Yap about other stuff and didn't leave good examples like you did

    You remind me of me, you even look like me, and yes I'm an EQ vet who has quit for now, but has played hardcore in the past with up to 5 box and macros. Makes me wonder if we are all similar 😉It's kinda sad though we're all very talented, love fantasy and take that world very seriously, but feel let down by what is now decades of fluff MMO's, which is why we all reminisce about EQ and that fact that it takes itself seriously, with all it's Dragons, Spells, and pure D&D style Lore.

      Anytime I've tried to actually meditate during a fight something bad happens so I usually have afk time where I get to a safe spot and go away till their full mana again lol so I would never have anyone sitting but this is a good macro.

    Regarding this part - 6:00
    If I'm not mistaken, once you cast a spell ( *any* spell), there's a minimum of a 1.5 sec global cooldown (that timer starting when a spell cast is complete) before your spell gems refresh and you're able to cast anything else. So if you're trying to set up a pause length to cast one spell after another, you would need to start out with that 1.5 sec global cooldown time, however long the cast time is for the specific spell you're creating a pause after, and then a few extra tenths for server delay/lag. So, for example, if I was creating a macro to cast a 2.0 sec cast time spell, and then to have it cast another spell, I would need to create a pause of 1.5 (global cooldown) + 2.0 (spell cast time), and then maybe an additional 0.3 to 0.5 for lag. So, the pause would be /pause 38 (1.5 + 2.0 + 0.3) or maybe /pause 40 (1.5 + 2.0 + 0.5)
    Please correct me if that's not the case with the global cooldown.

    • @vanman2099
      @vanman2099  ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems very legitimate, but on the TLP at least I don't notice the 1.5 second global cooldown if it's there, some spells that are fast cast like Tashani I don't notice a 1.5 second delay, but if people are experiencing this it is good information to consider when making Macros. I will pay more attention next time I'm in game to see if I notice a GCD of that length on anything.

    It’s good test these macros on a training dummy in your guild hall to make sure they work before finding out they don’t in battle.

      If you do it that way all of them will target frankthetank instead of maybe only 1 of your bots is a healer. Is there a way to tell only the healer to target frankthetank, then /cast 1 ?

    • @timd7709
      @timd7709 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@noahriding5780 the macro should be on your healers macro list, so his macro should only target the tank and cast heal.
      The others can have their own personal macro that fires when you press the same key, or you can have them not do anything on that key.

    Wasn't there a variable like %T that would allow you to target the designated tank and then assist? Maybe that was a different game but I think the command was /assist %t

    I make a emergency macros that i have /stopcast for when i use the long macros. enchanter i cast all the he dots and follow with nukes, but if mez breaks then i use a macro for all spells that does /stopcast /cast 1.

    @noahriding5780 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    @20:06 you did the example of tank heal; /target frankthetank, /pause 10, next line; /pause 50, /cast 1
    What if you have that character also attacking on /assiston previously to that? How do you make sure it goes back to the mob target after activating the heal? (could be a hybrid fighter healer class for example...or more than 1 fighter healer hybrid)

    • @vanman2099
      @vanman2099  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depending on your setup, you press another macro to assist frankthetank again, if you have multiplicity running you can press a key from your main computer and broadcast it to the other ones, what I normally do is I'll leave specific areas open on the hotbar 1-10 so like if it's a /target and then /follow command I have that set on everyones 0 so I press 0 they all follow, for things like assist to auto attack I would have say that in the number 1 spot on just the characters that will be assisting, everyone elses will be blank, so for like a hybrid I may have one of the hotkeys set only on that characters UI so if I press say 5 it might run the heal macro and then I press 1 it would go back to assisting, there's probably better ways to do it but I just use multiple macros to go back after, if you're using mq2 or something you don't have to worry about any of that so it just depends on what you're willing to use / not use as far as automation software.

    It is really silly, but you have to put the pause before the action you want to wait for completion. So if you have a spell that has casting time of 3 sec. You need to type /pause 30,/cast “your spell”
    If it works the way you have put it, it is a lucky coincidence. God knows how long I messed with this before I found out the pause had to go in front.

    • @Gasmurken
      @Gasmurken 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cfremmy8358Yes, same here unfortunately. I have been using a macro to get double invis with 2 casters. And it was only possible to get it to work if I put the /pause ahead of the actual command. I spent countless hours trying to figure out why it did not work "the normal way", but never got pause to work this way. For me /pause has to come before the actual command, and then it will pause this amount of time when it is executed. And it has been like this since 2005ish for me when I first set it up. And also later when I reconfigured it last year.

      sounds like a world of warcraft style command, if I recall correctly you have to target and then follow I don't think it runs as one command together but I could be wrong or something could have been updated along the way.

    • @vanman2099
      @vanman2099  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you're botting they will chase mobs up to a specified distance, I typically use follow without botting and use my lead character to position everyone else for assisting

      Sometimes the macro ai things get buggy too. like if I go /assiston sometimes only 1 will attack, but a same class different character won't attack. so it seems to be like you say where it has limits. Thanks for the reply.@@vanman2099

    Is there some trick to combat selos when you are running multiple toons in a group? It seems like my melee followers spaz out way too often when I am running around when selos and attempting to turn and position a mob via my tank.

    • @vanman2099
      @vanman2099  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if that will ever be fixed, it's a combination of latency and server response, it's almost like selos was meant for straight line running only and can't update character positions at that speed so the characters on follow lose track of the character they are following because of that latency, sometimes I even have problems running long distances in straight lines.
