Season 3, Episode 5, "Disco Didn't Die, It Was Murdered!": In 1978, Henry achieved his career bust by arresting a man who was plotting to bomb the SBPD. Psych Synopsis: "PSYCH" is a quick-witted dramedy about a young police consultant Shawn Spencer (James Roday, “The Dukes of Hazzard”) who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute that he’s convinced Santa Barbara PD detectives into thinking he's psychic. Raised in Santa Barbara by a family of cops, Shawn possesses uncanny powers of observation honed by his police officer father, Henry, who drilled young Shawn to note even the smallest of details from his surroundings as a way of grooming him for his inevitable career in the family business. With the reluctant assistance of his best friend Gus, Shawn uses his skills of observation and charismatic personality to become the detective he was trained to be, opening his own PI agency - Psych - and solving cases for an ever-suspicious, but grudgingly impressed, police force.

Personally I think they over did it in the show. In the mummy episode I thought it was funny but he always does it and it got old quick.

I love that this police officer who was the last one on the scene just zips up the bag and picks it up instead of waiting for the bomb squad.
This is a series where the protagonist is a psychic detective. Are you seriously expecting 100% accurate police work?
@@jeremytung1632 did I say I was expecting 100% accurate police work? Nope. BTW, the protagonist is *NOT* a psychic detective. He *PRETENDS* to be a psychic detective because of a little fib he told in the first episode to explain how he knew so much about how a crime was committed while not being in on the crime.
I think he's just trying to keep it away from Shawn at this point. Lol
Even if the bomb wasn't activated, the moment there is threat of a bomb, the area would have been cleared immediately and only the bomb squad would be allowed near the bomb. They wouldn't be standing around a bomb like that. Just because the timer isn't ticking down, doesn't mean there isn't a remote detonator attached to it.
@@jeremytung1632 it's fun to point out the inconsistencies with the law and movies, example in real life they're only strict circumstances that they officer a FBI agent or a SWAT member will actually shoot you however and a lot of TV shows their gung-ho and we'll shoot the very second they get a chance to, and if those scenarios were in real life oftentimes the Innocents would get collateral damaged.

A lot of comments about how dangerous this was, but I always had this theory that shawn is much smarter than is even mostly shown on the show. He does his best to play stupid even though it still makes he come off as very smart. He often does stuff that seems stupid and even often seems like does not know things he should. But always when it counts he corrects people or actually pulls true.
Even here for instance, how did he even know not only to arm the bomb but to set it to a specific timer? Which he is seen to do. He did not just press a big red button or something. Pretty sure he knew how to disarm the bomb, but him been him plays it off to make himself look like an idiot when things work out as he always does.
See and this is especially genuis move on his part because then when he says something stupid ("This man was killed by a dinosaur") everyone just plays it off as him messing around and not being serious so then if he's wrong then nobody remembers it because it was just a joke and if he's right then everybody is doubly impressed because he never gets it wrong

It’s just the writing. People act like Shawn is some crazy crazy genius. He just tapped the buttons. He didn’t know how to disarm the bomb. He literally told Juliet nonsense about wires which weren’t even there. Then he said “Thank you”’ to the heavens when everything was over. That should have given the audience a clear indication he was literally taking a chance. Don’t read into everything.

Love this. Another great bomb scene is in Castle. One where there's a truck full of explosives and Castle only has a few moments so just grabs a bunch of wires and rips them out. Figured he was dead if he didn't so what's the worst that could have happened?

@@levertige1 kinda perfect timing. Haven't watched Castle in months so figured I'd start where I left off. Apparently I left off on part 1 of the 2 part episodes with this scene. Remembered the scene but had no idea what season it was. Such a good show.
I never understood why the guilty couple didn't just follow Gus's idea of running for their lives...
maybe its too strong and they wouldn't have made it far enough. or maybe the police would have tracked them down

@@mobob7989 Police wouldn't have had anything on them because they didn't show that they knew how to disarm the bomb. Even if you mean fleeing the state/country they could probably make a case for being in the right on the grounds that the police tried to blow them up.
I think it’s because it would have made them look guilty.

If they had just run and let it go off, it probably would have solved all their problems and Shawn would have been charged with setting it off
Gus was the only logical person to act on that. Everybody else was standing beside bomb deciding who is the culprit

For some reason, I thought the refection of the boom mike was an arrow sticking out of Shawns back and had to rewatch it lol
They were all more upset at Shawn for solving the case, instead of the actual criminals and bomb makers. Almost every episode was a get mad at Shawn for whatever reason storyline. Fabulous writers.
