This is definitely what I think it is. It also serves to keep Batman on his heels by wondering if he even was sick at all anymore and may be chasing a “cure” which wasn’t a cure.
The reason air in the bloodstream is bad is because it causes blood clotting, however, those are not air bubbles. That is empty space along the transfusion line, which sometimes occurs especially in gravity feeds, any movements from the patient or during the setup of the feed can resultin kinks in the line that cause those spaces, air bubbles in the tubing will actually go around the blood when it can to reach the top of the bag, and otherwise will clot the blood in the tubing and stop the line anyways so it wouldn't be going into the patient.
A video topic I'd like to see is, "What exactly was the Joker's plan?" in both AA and AC. As in, what things did he intentionally allow Batman to do, what things went against his plan, what was his plan and goal at each point in time? This is especially interesting in Asylum, where he's quite dynamic in his plan and end goal, and several things were clearly done intentionally. In City, there's less, but still plenty. I think it's safe to say he knew Batman would escape the church and find him eventually, and everything up until Harley getting mugged by Talia was part of his plan. Ok, what was his plan assuming that HADN'T happening? Was his prison break scheme after getting healthy the legitimate plan and he just had to send in Clayface Joker when Harley lost the cure? Was he intending for Batman to reach him or not? Did he know about Protocol 10?
(If I had to take an educated guess, his original plan was. 1. Draw Batman out by trying to kill Catwoman, and then warn Batman about Harley's trap so he's motivated to track Joker down. 2. Have Clayface ready as a decoy so he can knock Batman out when he arrives and infect him with the blood. 3. Extort Batman for the cure, and then steal it from him and cure himself. 4. With his troops ready, bust out of Arkham City fully armed and slaughter hundreds in Gotham proper right before P10 can start
@@MLLuca04 Yeah, break out and start slaughtering right before Strange can kill them. Make a fool of him with his own weaponry he had given them used on Gotham, and have Penguin and (maybe?) Two Face killed in the process as they stay trapped in the city. Assuming he knew about P10, anyway, the whole scheme fits him well. Timeline is a little iffy(There was less then 30 minutes until P10 started when he gave the announcement for the boys to start arming, and even then, he only said they had an escape to PLAN, not preform. Maybe he actually did mean they were about to escape, and considering he probably got delayed by waiting for Harley and then having to get Clayface to do the speech, maybe if he had gotten the cure he would have started sooner.
I always interpreted ras’ trial as hallucinations or a dream like state induced by the blood of the demon drink. So it’s just what Batman is hallucinating rather than something Ras specifically designed. While he is gliding through the mesh of Arkham city features, he is probably walking to Ras’ chamber. While he is fighting assassins, a huge number of Ras and a giant Ras, he is probably fighting the real thing and hallucinating an exaggerated, mystical version. Evidence for this is how several times during the fight with Ras he snaps back to reality and has to fight through the hallucinatory drink to get back to reality.
A lot of people who complain about Arkham city are newer games who likely played Knight first or people who disregard the additional content outside the campaign like the Arkham city stories bio's and the audio tapes IMO
Also, getting 100% story mode in this game feels kinda lack lustre. They could’ve at least added a cutscene showing ppl like Bane and Riddler get arrested, and then maybe even show Harley Quinn kidnap some of the cops and setup the Harley Quinn’s revenge DLC.
@@danwaddell8251 That’s a stellar idea. In asylum it was so satisfying to see Batman finally leave after spending the whole game trapped there, city has a similar set up just on a larger scale. I wish they added a cutscene like that in the remaster.
8:30 the reason clayface was joker was so that the turf war between Penguin, Two-Face, and Joker wouldn't be swung against Joker's favor by everyone finding out he's dying. If his thugs knew, thye would abandon him. The reason why Joker never told batman though? To screw with him being an added bonus
One thing that irked the shit out of me for the longest was mr freeze rejecting to give batman the cure. Sure they had beef, especially with batman threatening victor with draining his uhh...coolant in penguin's museum when he was captured. But freeze could have literally given batman the cure, find nora, then bring her back no problem.
Agreed. That was the one thing in this game that always drove me nuts because it makes Freeze seem uncharacteristically stupid, bordering character assassination. They could have had Freeze cure Batman and then have them fight over the second dose which Freeze wants to give Joker in exchange for Nora and which Batman needs to synthesize more for everyone who's been poisoned.
YES!! That’s sooo much more in character for Mr. Freeze! Why would Freeze, a very intelligent scientist, ask a dying Batman to go find Nora and destroy his cure which could leave Batman vulnerable to dying in the midst of saving Nora?! It seems like such a huge oversight and just makes the story so infuriating.
Plus he states that he “needs to keep up appearances” after revealing himself in the theater. Seeing a Joker back on his feet and healthy in the form of Clayface would definitely inspire hope in his men and fear in the other gangs.
I think they set up the “left hand right hand” thing to allude to Joker still being alive, however somewhere along the way they decided to actually keep him dead since everyone applauded his cinematic death scene. Loved the video!
It could be something that could've been picked on had Paul Dini returned for Knight since there are so many loose threads from City that where left unaddressed or theories untouched on.
I'm still confused, how does the cure being I. the other hand allude to jokers survival in the slightest? it's literally such a small and insignificant detail that I 100% believe it was just an accident left in
@@glyph__ It was one of myriad of "Joker is still alive" theories before Arkham Knight that were reaching into little details (more likely oversights) such as these.
This is the ideal video right here. Actual real criticism. I agree with most everything here, although I want to say a couple things about them. Firstly, Catwoman’s third part was 100% timed perfectly and needed for the story. Prior to having the Catwoman DLC, we had to assume that Catwoman was just around doing stuff and decided to save Batman because he had saved her earlier. Now, we have an extremely sensible reason for why she’s there, and we see the entire buildup to it. So besides just my appreciation for the added exposition and dimension they added to the game, I think the 3rd part specifically was 100% needed for the story to be more filled, and it works perfectly in tandem with the rest of the normal story. Secondly, after looking up some stuff about transfusions like this, I agree that that level of air would certainly be dangerous, but generally some small amounts will not be. Batman would certainly be in a precarious situation with that transfusion. 100% agree with the voice tape parts, and that’s what annoys me so much about when people say that they’re problems with the plot or story. A vast vast majority of them can simply be chalked up to being explained well enough in the Arkham Stories, Interview Tapes, or some other form of lore within the game itself. For Robin, I agree, but I think they just wanted to save him for HQR. That’s just my thoughts on it. Next, for the Ra’s challenge, I’m chalking it up to it being a personalized challenge, and Ra’s knowing that Batman uses his gliding and grappling as his primary form of movement and transportation. He wanted to test Batman as he is, and his gliding/grappling is something that he does. For Talia, I see it as her still mad at Bruce so she’s not giving him immediate help. Although that’s just pure speculation from me, so otherwise you’re right that it makes no sense how she went about it. Additionally, for the cure, the ONLY explanations I can think of is that it’s either a heavy EE that has yet to see a full reveal yet, or it’s just Batman switching the cure from hand to hand during the end of the explosion, perhaps as he’s about to be knocked out. Otherwise, it’s a pure goof on Rocksteady’s part. Lastly, for Clayface I agree that it is an interesting dilemma. You have clear reasons for why he’s both in the game and why Batman doesn’t figure out he’s fake Joker, but it still does seem like lot to do. Best guess is that Joker thought of the reasons aforementioned in the video, and he knew that only something of that caliber could be enough to fool the World’s Greatest Detective
But why do people are talking about the cure in Batman's hand, isn't just a silly mistake, and the fact that Batman looks constantly to it probably is just him thinking "do i give him the cure or not, after all the things he has done". For me was just a nonsense point on the video about nonsense points on the Arkham City plot.
I swear they played the credits first before the final Catwoman segment, which was honestly a much smoother transition than your proposed jumping from the final cutscene to Catwoman.
@@libertyprime619It's definitely a blow to the head, not the back. If you use mods to change the camera angle so you can see the full moment without it switching to first person POV, and it literally hits Bruce square in the back of the skull.
If only we got a game like that from rocksteady later. Even just as single player switching between them like in spider man 2 it was so cool. The closest we got was knight in very specific moments
The catwoman sections I totally agree I got to play city for the first time without them only a few years ago and the pacing as SO much better personally it’s my preferred way to replay the game.
Just don't go to the courtroom and free roam with a nice clean suit as long as you like. You can even do this in New Game Plus if you want access to all your upgrades and gadgets as well.
The whole thing with the metal pipe not giving Bruce a concussion is actually a problem with MOST media... And another thing, Bruce being completely fine after that is ALSO a problem with most media, and the fact that he woke up only a few hours later is the same, he would AT LEAST wake up a few days after, with a concussion, and at most, have PERMENANT brain damage!
7:11 thank you soo much for pointing this out! I honestly thought I was the only one who had a gripe with it. I love City’s finale, but this plot hole kinda makes it feel like it could’ve been avoided if Talia just killed Joker the moment she encountered him and then gave Batman the cure. Also, Talia saw Batman’s face earlier and knew he was infected, and she knows Joker is dying as well. So, why does she not question how Joker looks so healthy despite not having taken the cure?
Historically ninjas would have often have to set through a tough series of Trials one of them being gliding because historically ninjas and assassins would both users get around and Traverse Landscapes with these so that is why Batman is gliding as one of his trials because that's something assassins would do
@@highlightermarca-texto3281 but he still has to perform combat trial in the midst of the gliding trial and has to show that he has perfected his grappling hope skills so he does multiple trials within the one trial that we see also Batman has been long Associated as the inheritor of the clan and is most likely been tested on these other trials that you wanted to see because of the fact that he's known him for so long and do the fact that he was trained by the League of Assassins so he's most likely already do with the other trials
@Stinko De mayo honestly I thought racial Ghul was showing him what is going to happen to Arkham City he's going to turn into a desert Wasteland at least that's how I used to interpret it
I personally didn't mind the Catwoman sections and the game starting off playing as her is a nice surprise, if you look closely Bruce gets struck in his upper back, not his head, which would still hurt but not as bad as the back of the head, I understand your disaste of Robins role but my guess would be the writers didn't know what to do with him, as for Talia not attacking Clayface Joker I heavily agree with you, the Clayface plot point isn't really a plot hole just something that wasn't too well explored
I watched Bruce get hit again, and that was 100% at the bottom of his neck, and at most somewhat cushioned by his traps/upper back/shirt material. I could see Batman recovering from something like that, but it’s still pretty crazy that he gets hit and almost immediately keeps going
@@Jonathan-A.C. imo this shouldnt even be a criticism its a video games based of a comic book character it doesnt ruin anything if he did get hit in the head by a pipe its just a worthless nitpick
@@AlienPlaysGames I mean not really. I understand suspension of disbelief for fantasy, but a world should operate under its own set rules and realities. Bruce isn’t superhuman, and blows like that can and easily do heavily damage normal toughened thugs, even though they’re less powerful given that it’s from Batman’s fists. Bruce is meant to be the apex of humanity, not superhuman. So while taking bat swings with the protection of the cape and cowl makes perfect sense here, the instance in the beginning is sus at best. It doesn’t mean the game is horrible at all, and it doesn’t affect too much, but it is A problem with the game, and therefore it should be counted within a vid like this
@@Jonathan-A.C. batman has takes much worse blows than a pipe to the head there shouldn't be any reason why you can't suspend your disbelief when in the same universe he overpowered killer croc in origins and overpowers Solomon grundy
@@AlienPlaysGames No he hasn’t. BRUCE in and of him had barely ever taken hits from the serious, and considering there’s roughly jack shit protecting him, the bat should’ve logically done more. Also, strength isn’t durability
Another thing, Batman tells the cops to bring the energy cell to freeze. Freeze is on the other side of the pool with no way to get to the trophy room and vice versa. It's something that always bothered me.
this is just an idea but Mabey the reason the demon trials are gliding challenges is that Ra's only wanted batman to be able to pass them, as in other media Ra's really wants batman to lead his army
Perhaps the demon trials are a piss easy gliding section because Ra's wants you to succeed and take over the league, so in essence its a standardized trial that's heavily biased towards only Batman being the one to beat it.
I played Arkham City and I never played the catwoman dlc, the game is easier without the dlc missions, it seems that nobody listens to the audio tapes in any of the Arkham games, which I have, thank you for a proper everything wrong video.
I think the reason why Ra's sends Batman into gliding sections is that that is probably the best role he could do if he wasn't becoming the master of the assassins which would be recon and since he's the world's greatest detective his skills as the head of recon would be legendary.
For me my biggest gripe with the game is Talia al gul, she was a plot device IMO, literally everything else in this game can be explained away convincingly, after all Arkham city is in my top 3 games of all time next to GTA san Andreas and Silent hill 2
My one big pet peeve was Bruce Wayne singlehandedly mopping the floor with a bunch of Penguin’s goons (including Penguin himself) while handcuffed and Penguin still doesn’t put 2 and 2 together
For some reason in the Arkham games more than any other Batman media it feels like anytime Bruce could compromise his secret identity, everyone ignores it. There’s this, but there was also the start of Cold Cold Heart where he wipes the floor with multiple thug beat downs, but everyone forgets it and thinks “Bruce Wayne can be killed by a light draft.”
I find a lot of the sudden criticism Arkham city especially has now started facing is a result of newer games who have likely started the series with Arkham Knight or casual gamers who haven't explored the content outside the campaign IMO Arkham city above all the Arkham games has a lot going on underneath the surface. To me at least, it provides in every major department from gameplay, Boss fights, said missions, collectables, challenges, replay value, Easter eggs, traversal, story and narrative, world building and setup/payoff...
Does anybody else wonder about the start of the Mad Hatter side mission? Batman doesn't question being told there's suddenly a cure ready to be taken. And when he gets there, he takes it without thinking about it! Also, why did Alfred tell him about the cure? (I guess it could be a hallucination, but who knows.)
The way I understand it, when Batman rescued Vale, Hatter did something in the background that influenced his mind. I assume he had some kind of audio pattern playing in the background, quiet enough so Batman wouldn’t question it, that planted the idea of the cure in his mind. From there, it’s all in Batman’s head. Alfred never sent that message, it was all the idea Hatter planted in his mind. Hatter doesn’t know what it is, because he made Batman see the thing he wanted most, which was the cure. The cure was never dropped, it was just that tea set that knocked Batman unconscious. The devs intended it to be played right away, hence why he’ll still take it after finishing the main campaign.
@@ClownPuncher139 I have a much better explaination , Lucius made the cure and sent it to Arkham City for Batman but Mad Hatter put some of his hypnotizing serum on the cure for Batman
@@arkhamtony3775not to be rude but your explanation makes zero sense, wouldn’t Batman just be cured after taking it anyway? If what tetch did to it ruined the cure then afterwards why wouldn’t Lucius just whip up another cure and send it again?
6:45 i always assumed the first test was to drink the Lazarus, the second was a hallucination brought on by the Lazarus to see if the can find their way back to sanity and the third was a fight to the death the current leader of the league.
I think the morale thing makes extra sense when you think about while this "cured" joker is running around batman is still sick and everyone knows that. The goons constantly talk about how they'll be there where batman makes a mistake to finally take him down so they probably all believe that a confrontation between the two would be the end of batman and probably jokers enemies by extension
I draw the hand thing up to the possibility of Batman curling up to protect himself during the blast, and by extension, switching the cure to his other hand
I think the catwoman's parts should have been handled like separate ways in Resident Evil 4, where after you beat the main story you unlock a campaign where you play as Ada Wong
The grundy boss fight was pretty bad...they nade him look scary when he first appears but most of the fight is dropping explosive jelly on the tbree spots on the floor and then pubching him rapidly...but i guess they couldnt equal the amazingness of the mr feeeze fight
I feel like the first cat woman section could’ve been so much better if they moved it to when Batman gets thrown out of the steel mill so it looks like he’s been knocked out for a minute or two
The Batman looking at the cure thing could just be making sure it didn't break or anything. But, yeah. Catwoman could've been good as a sort of mini-DLC like in Knight instead of story interjections.
When I first played through this masterpiece of a game in fifth grade, I didn’t have the Catwoman dlc, so my first several play throughs were without Catwoman, so I kind of agree with you about how it’s better to not make you start the game playing as Catwoman or cutting away to a Catwoman segment whenever Batman ends up unconscious, although I will say that when I was playing without the Catwoman dlc, I had found myself wondering what was going on when she was captured in the courthouse
Side note on Catwoman 4: It happens after the credits roll if memory serves. I fully agree that Catwoman's kinda shoehorned into the story, but that's thankfully only in GOTY (at least, I think it is. Haven't played the 360 version in probably a decade, and I never even finished it, let alone had Catwoman installed at the time.)
Only thing about Talia not saving Batman while under rubble would be that she still believes in her father's mission and wanted Batman busy while Protocol 10 continued.
Cat woman dlc is literally like if in a show every time a good story beet happened it cut too a hot lady doinng her grocery’s with no expalanation and then went right back. It’s so astronomically bad for the pacing that it has to be some strange neiche fettish
About the demon trials, I agree there should have been some kind of unique stealth challenge, but the small combat sections and the boss fight against Ra's are the trials. The gliding is just moving to the next trial.
Your blood transfusion theory is absolutely correct, the air would definitely kill Batman, but the air pockets are to show the blood flowing through the tubes, its more engaging than a solid red tube My theory on the Demon Trials is that Ra’s rigged it to make it absolutely easy as heck for Batman, since Ra’s desperately wants Batman to lead the League
To me the biggest problem was Ra's. Strange was handled pretty well but even he took a backseat to Joker. Ra's is just such a huge afterthought and done absolutely dirty. The boss fights are interesting but when it comes to guys like Bane or Ra's you'd think the developers would find some way to specifically make those boss fights physical since they're supposed to be guys that can match Batman physically
Since you brought up the Batman blood transfusion I have my own theory on why the Joker’s infected blood was killing Batman quicker than most. A. Unlike most people who would be getting this blood from a hospital where the blood is likely been put in storage for a while, Batman is getting it directly from the Joker who is practically already on death’s door. B. Unlike the recipe infected and even the joker himself, that man is not resting he is actively taking part in fights and other physically strenuous tasks. This means that the body has to focus on things such as healing injured wounds and maintaining functions as Batman‘s pushing his body to the limit instead of fighting off this deadly disease. Not to mention whether it be by Batman coughing up blood or taking a hit during a fight he’s steadily losing potentially clean blood and any white blood cells that go with it. No disrespect to your theory I think he made a lot of good points this is just personally how I interpreted it.
What you said about Joker is exactly what happened. Joker hires Clayface to keep up appearances so people like Harvey and Penguin, plus his own goons, won't have reasons to take over and gang up on him, since he appears vulnerable when sick. Plus Joker loves screwing with Batman, so this is a double win for Joker.
I don’t think the trials actually involve any flying. It’s some sort of strange dream. He’s in a tiny room when it starts, and a tiny room when it ends. So he didn’t go anywhere. The fight with Ra’s is happening , but with embellishments from the potion you drink. I guess the flying is all hallucinations, though? After all, he doesn’t go anywhere. My guess: The potion makes you see something wacky. And if it doesn’t make you crazy, you’re in good enough shape to take over the League. You only get the chance to take it if you’re worthy/the guy Ra’s wants. It is silly that the test is just gliding, but it sure looks fun.
One thing that makes absolutely no sense is how all the inmates manage to traverse across the flooded amusement mile… especially when penguin bombs the bridges.
Ghe clayface explanation helps out a lot lile you said, joker wants to keep up appearances so if they saw him sick both two face and penguins gangs would attack him to get the weak leader out, joker probably promised that if clayface stopped or even killed batman he could take over the role as a crazed batman, sure it isnt joker who isnt killing him but i believe joker just did not care at the time, almost dead and since talia took the cure he went to his last resort, clayface.
I hate that I agree with every single thing you wrote because I love this game. But as I played I would suspend my disbelief on literally everything you brought up. I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one who noticed these.
Well, yeah. It’s a continuity error that affected how people were theorizing about Arkham Knight for years. “Stupid complaints” means criticizing the Wayne’s for stepping into Crime Alley or being annoyed at Strange constantly counting down Protocol 10. They aren’t something the game did wrong, and contribute nothing to the critique.
@@terrible6348 Batman had the cure in his left as the Lazarus Pit explodes. It’s still in his left hand as he’s knocked down and goes unconscious. Then, suddenly when he wakes up, it’s in his right. It’s incredibly unlikely he’d somehow switch it while he’s unconscious. So people began thinking that while Batman was knocked out, Joker took the rest of the cure and replaced it with some other blue liquid, but then accidentally put it in the wrong hand. Thus leading to him being alive.
I'd love to see you do a video talking about the map of Arkham city and or the maps of the other games. I heard someone complain about the fact that Arkham city feels like a U Shape that gets old fast but I strongly disagree. Arkham city especially without the Catwoman segments, is a short compact game that finds a way to use a vast majority of its map
One thing wrong you didn’t mention is why Batman decided to carry the jokers body out of the theatre instead of Talia’s? He supposedly loved her but just left her body there and instead chose to take Joker’s body, and after he placed the body down he left
My biggest problem with the Catwoman segments are that there aren't enough of them, actually. There's simply not enough of them to tell a good story or get used to Catwoman's combat style. I can never find myself justifying getting any of her upgrades either (which really should not be on a separate tree).
I actually really like the Catwoman scenes as a pacing tool to build tension. Theres only 4 of them and you can probably do the lot in 1 hour or less. It also explains why Catwoman is there to help Bruce
Actually I think that the trails are suited to the person taking it. These trails aren't really real. Just hallucinations (I'm pretty sure they are hallucinations) . Batman faced hallucinations because of the lazuras he drank and he faced trails suited to him. Since he is skilled at gliding and uses a grapple, the trails contained segments where you need to glide and grapple. But with other people, the trails would be different depending on the person's attributes.
I was hoping you'd mention that you can play nightwing, but he doesn't appear in the story. Also, the first time you use a reverse batarang feature, you use it when ra's takes Talia hostage, but if you try to use it on a hostage after that point it won't work. Batman will say "I can't do that because the hostage will get killed". I mean first of all, dude is getting knocked from a rear view from a batarang which makes no sense.
I do not like the catwoman predator sections. Her takedown animations are so slow, and her maneuverability to go hide (especially in the Two-Face fight) is so awkward and feels clumsy. Also, Strange wants Batman alive to see protocol 10, but the first building he targets is the steel mill specifically because Batman is there.
I recently realized why the Catwoman missions are placed where they are! One is a prologue and the the rest happen after the end of each act. Doesn't mean it works, but knowing the why is nice.
Catwoman's segments give Batman's story room to breathe. There are no better places to put them. And beginning the game with her is a neat little subversion. It sets up right away that she's tied to the main narrative.
So the air portion of the blood transfusion is accurate, an air emboli can kill you and it has happened before but studies show it takes roughly 50mls of air in your body for death to occur. So with the little amount in the line and the short time we see him ACTUALLY receiving the blood on screen, It’s a safe bet to say he didn’t hit that mark.
I remember I read somewhere that Joker was intended to still be alive in Arkham knight, which is why the cure all of a sudden swaps hands. The idea was that after Batman was knocked out, joker secretly cured himself, but put the cure in the wrong hand. After Batman comes to, it’s actually clayface once again taking the role of joker, and pretending to die to further break Batman. That was the original idea, but with the amount of praise jokers death got, they decided to keep it. But the didn’t fix the cutscene, so it just ends up being an unfixed mistake.
I do agree with the Catwoman point but I do think starting the game with her was honestly pretty cool because it’s kinda of like what happening before the events take place well at least all in the same night I do love the reveal of her being the first character we play as because it’s something new Tbh I feel as though they set it up kinda like an actual movie, starting the movie off with a Cool Biblical reference then introducing a character we weren’t expect to see at all basically like shock factor HOWEVER I WHOLEHEARTEDLY BELIVE SHE COULDVE HAD A WAYYYYY BETTER STORY LINE THEN STEALING A PLANT FOR IVY! LIKE SOMETHING THAT MADE SENSE AND ACTUALLY MOVED THE STORY ALONG!!! I’d rather see a different story than the one we got
I honestly agree as well. Starting the game as Catwoman made a lot more sense because she obviously gets kidnapped by Two Face and hangs her up above the poison pool. So I'd say that direction makes sense to me.
There is one thing that’s always bugged me about the story. Strange is under the impression that gathering and wasting all the criminals will make everyone cheer him and he’ll set up Arkham Cities all over the country after. But Barbara states that from the prospective of Gotham’s leaders, Protocol was to be used if Arkham City failed and there was initiate danger to Gotham. So why then would anyone let Strange set up places in Keystone and Metropolis if, from their view, Arkham City went tits up? And it’s not like Ra’s could get places like Arkham City going in those places. Even without Flash and Superman, Keystone is nowhere near as corrupt as Gotham for bribes and threats to work and Lex would shut any plans for Arkham Metropolis down before the ink dried on the proposal.
I believe that ties into Strange's cockiness. I have a video going in more depth about Strange as a whole, One Amazing Scene - I Have Saved Gotham. But to put it basically, Strange thinks a lot higher of himself and his actions. He thought Protocol 10 was guaranteed to happen, counting it down throughout the night, when the city council still needed to approve it only 30 minutes before launch. He was building it up all night without knowing if the approval would go through. I think this is a similar situation. He thinks his actions were such a great success that Ras will be able to open new locations and continue the culling spree without issue, despite the fact that Ras only really wants to cleanse Gotham. It's perfectly in character for Strange.
I played Arkham city when it came out on ps3 years ago and the cat woman parts weren’t added unless you bought the dlc or used the codes for the game. So the intro was perfect when strange has you captured
One thing I have ever wondered, is why you need to get chipset in your hacking device to hack any Wayne Enterprise console. Could'nt Batman have a backdoor programmed inside the console?
One of my issues with the game's plot is the wild goose chase structure, after playing the game so many times i cant help but feel like each event is so obviously structured in a way that is only convenient to the plot and makes no sense when you think about it. The best examples for me are freeze for some reason deciding to fight batman, and destroy one of the cure vials just because.. he didnt get his wife back yet, when giving batman the cure so he can more easily save the day AND get his wife wouldve made more sense. That whole boss fight is awesome, but narratively only exists so harley can steal the cure. Or the ultra convenient Vicki Vale helicopter crash (that somehow goes over buildings higher than it was after it got shot) that happens right after batman leaves a building. Ofc I still love arkham city but the plot structure feels so rigid after some deep thought
I just beat this game for the first time this week and I 100% agree more about the Catwoman segments. They did this again with the Spider-Man game from 2018. Every MJ and Miles Morales "stealth" missions are rough. I'm hoping they don't do that with Spider-Man 2.
For those that haven't read "Arkham Unhinged", Catwoman's DLC continues the story of her and Two Face that takes place in that comic series. That flash drive she steals in the beginning is the layout to Arkham city and Stranges vault. And the loot in the vault was stolen by Tyger when they were attempting to capture her after Harvey tells them her location. I know her story slows the overall game down but it's nice to see it continued.
My first time playing this game was without the Catwoman DLC. My play thought with the DLC I was always confused whenever a Catwoman scene took place. Always “Wait, what’s happening? Oh, it’s one of these”
one sin I think should be here is how Batman just immediately takes freeze’s grenades. Freeze is known to execute his enemies, for all Batman knows, the grenade could just freeze the entire dude when thrown thus killing them. Batman had no idea if it was lethal or not.
I took the demon trials to be a metaphorical visualization of bruces will battling against the blood of the demon. since the initial gliding bits literally take place within that single room with the goblet, we know bruce isnt actually gliding anywhere, so that kinda supports my theory.
what i always thought the demon trials were wasn't a literal set of trial, but just seeing if batman would lose his mind from just a sip of lazarus and its just contextuallized in game with the weird gliding
Bruhhhhh I can’t believe that after 10 years I’m just realizing that Harley was tied up by talia

Oh wow and batman is thrashing around thats actually a really great detail thanks for the explanation
@@kalkuttadrop6371 That sounds exactly like what Joker would do.
Protocol 10? Never heard of it
@@benedictator4763 It's Joker. Hard to tell with him, plus, his men knew to hide in the tunnels.
Joker is ALL about appearances. That’s what makes him HIM. Hiring clayface to keep the appearances up is perfect

@@Warrior-Of-Virtue that’s a great idea

I understand suspension of disbelief for fantasy, but a world should operate under its own set rules and realities. Bruce isn’t superhuman, and blows like that can and easily do heavily damage normal toughened thugs, even though they’re less powerful given that it’s from Batman’s fists.
Bruce is meant to be the apex of humanity, not superhuman. So while taking bat swings with the protection of the cape and cowl makes perfect sense here, the instance in the beginning is sus at best. this is just an idea but Mabey the reason the demon trials are gliding challenges is that Ra's only wanted batman to be able to pass them, as in other media Ra's really wants batman to lead his army
Exactly. People don’t do their homework for the game, so they just ignorantly assume that it must be a plot hole
@@Jonathan-A.C. that doesn't mean these criticisms can't be valid

One thing about clay face, it’s why decoys are so useful, as we saw he would’ve legit be assinated if he didn’t get clay face to help by ghoul
I draw the hand thing up to the possibility of Batman curling up to protect himself during the blast, and by extension, switching the cure to his other hand

The Batman looking at the cure thing could just be making sure it didn't break or anything. But, yeah. Catwoman could've been good as a sort of mini-DLC like in Knight instead of story interjections.
I'm sorry but the part about air pockets in the bloodbag is the smallest nitpick I've ever heard lol
Besides after jokers death i think that the Catwoman moments build tension
Catwoman was Pre-Order DLC, so her parts were in the game since day 1.
Your blood transfusion theory is absolutely correct, the air would definitely kill Batman, but the air pockets are to show the blood flowing through the tubes, its more engaging than a solid red tube
My theory on the Demon Trials is that Ra’s rigged it to make it absolutely easy as heck for Batman, since Ra’s desperately wants Batman to lead the League
The only thing I can think of that you didn't mention, is that it's weird that Oracle was brought in around a 1/4 of the way into the story.
And then they forgot to bring Alfred back in until even further in the story after oracle was added
I guess not getting the Catwoman DLC for my disc was a blessing,I guess.🎉

Well, yeah.
I was thinking the trials were like that bc ras only wanted batman to succeed him
One of my issues with the game's plot is the wild goose chase structure, after playing the game so many times i cant help but feel like each event is so obviously structured in a way that is only convenient to the plot and makes no sense when you think about it.
This is also told in the city stories, most of the Arkham city comics are adaptation of them
5:41 actually after defeating ra’s al ghul robin tells Bruce about the hospital situation
He said about having more dialouges about the hospital , not just after the boss fight
"If he was wearing the cowl, than that would be one thing. But his head is completely exposed and taking the full force of that pipe." ClownPuncher139
