    Your intro made me cry, this was exactly what I needed. I had a shitty match last wednesday mainly because I am not agressive enough, I don't get physical and even though I have a good touch and i can dribble, other players can easily put me down. I feel like I am constantly let my team colleaugues down cuz they have high expectations of me (cuz I can really dribble and do good thinds with the ball on mt feet) but when it comes to be more defensive or just be agressive or physical i just cannot. But this will change.

    This is soooo important. I coach a club team now, and I am constantly preaching, get focused and make an impact. When I was young player, I was never the most skilled, but I was fast and super aggressive... my teammates called me "the mad man" because I was so intense.... and the best club teams in my area all tried to recruit me.... I can still clearly remember one high school game where the 9 from my club team was on the opposing team and I was playing left back. He was about 6' 175 lbs, he had huge legs, and I was 5-10, 160...I can still remember stepping on the field, glaring at him, thinking "there is no way he is beating us today...no way"...well, he got a pass through the middle from about 45 yards out and beat our our center back... he took one more touch toward the goal and started to accelerate. I came closing in from the side at full steam. I got the ball and him... he went flying over me as I slid through... the ref blew his whistle and called me for a foul. I got up, and I am saying "what foul"...apparently, even though I definitely got the ball first, it was just too violent to let go... Because a lot of players from that high school were on my club team, the parents on the other side knew me as well.... I can remember one mom screaming, "Jack, was that necessary!" I looked at my teammates, and they are all just smiling, one of them says "Jesus Christ, Jack".... I looked over at my coach as I am returning to my position and he is chuckling, shaking his head and mutters "madman"...

    My son just tried out for the travel team in the area. He was one of the more skilled and fastest players out there, but his hight makes his balance, agility and quick movements more difficult for him. This tends to make him more timid. The coach after the first day told him to be much more aggressive, get in the play more and fight for it. We came home and found this video and watched it several times, especially the opening speach. He went out today and absolutely kicked butt. For the first time he used his body with power and was able to do things that even surprised him.
    So thank you for making videos like these. You do make a difference in kids lives when you give them that little extra or that confidence to go out a do their best.
    Thanks

    PLEASE follow this advice.
    Become more aggressive.
    Add more intensity to your game.
    Work harder when you don't have the ball.
    Yes, be a composed, calm, skillful player when you have the ball.
    But when you DON'T have the ball, BECOME A BEAST!
    Hunt that ball down.
    Push players off the ball.
    Go in for tackles.
    Win headers.
    Compete.
    It's so important that you add this component to your game, QUICKLY.

      hey im 14 and play youth football in germany. In my division referees dont ever give red cards, because its too much effort to organise all the consequences that come with it. that means every defender is absolutely cynical and will go for the challenge which would be a straight red, but just that there arent any reds ever given. because im a rather fast striker they tend to always take me out from behind and ive had a few cases where i got broken bones because of one of those tackles. so what can i do to stop getting slid in from behind (i dont really see any possible way as this keeps on happening no matter what i do). any advice would be great. Thanks

    Tell that to my coach. He plays technically better players than me that dont run on the pitch and dont come to practice, instead of letting me play to gain experience and improve. Very upsetting, but I still keep giving 120% in training.

      @Jay-ez5wq 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      DrIncognito that use to happen to me, no doubt you have to work on the technical part it's easier to play a technical player with no aggression bcoz he can handle the ball when no one is around
      but I bought a ball practice against a wall 1 hr day ( this helps with receiving controlling and passing the ball) and in a month took the spot I wanted. Also, build relationship with your coach, ask him what does he want you to do when your on the field and actually listen to him.. you'll be starting in no time.

  • @MikeinCC
    @MikeinCC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Intensity comes from within. Its an attitude and it can't be taught. You're right in that passion gives birth to intensity, but coaching won't bring it out. The intense players lay everything out on the pitch, (literally) grit their teeth, and play to the final whistle.

What can I do to change this he has real potential it’s just a matter of bringing it out of him consistently.

    I was doing some two on ones with my mates (as a training drill) and took this advice and used it, I used to be a bit to passive and wait too long for them to make the move but because of this I feel more confident (and play better) in the air, slide and stand tackling and how I make space, this helped me a lot and taught me something new. I'm a better left-back now, thanks to you. You've done your job well bud, thank you. :)

      Oh and btw, I found out that in actual matches that I play, not many people actually use physicality to their advantage, even though I'm tall and quite lean/thin, I gain much more possession over the ball, plus, by the end of the match, they usually try to pass it and avoid me now :D (I'm not bragging tho lol)

      +Marshall Smith well in actual match in my place the craziness of people trying to be tough in the match is outrageous. n i play a little bit evil on them. hehe

  • @eman7183

    Thanks I needed this. I work hard on the pitch and cover a lot of area and make sprints but I’m not aggressive. I don’t like to push or shove and I think this why some coaches don’t recognize my work ethic because I work hard but let up when it comes to contact.

    A Tip : if the ball is flying to you and you have an opponent try to tackle him before the ball lands so you have space and time...it really helps

    I remember when I was playing soccer my first season and my coach called me bulldog because I was the shortest one out of all the girls and one of the less experienced but I still was aggressive. One time I even went for the ball along with a girl from the other team and she was like twice the size of little me. Me and my mom were laughing about that all the way home.
    And I was shy back then...even though I still am but still...DON'T MESS WITH ME OR YOU GET KICKED!!

    Aggressiveness is underrated asfff !!! If you don’t think “I’m beating this opponent with your body “ you ain’t doing nothing , you just scared
