What you are doing is taking funding from one school district and giving it to another to educate that child. The transfer school has a higher cost. Who pays for that? The parents. You've now gone from 30 kids per teacher to 40. Who pays for that? The students. The lower performing district now just lost a bunch of students and along with them, their funding. If you want your kid to go to a certain school, move to that district. If there is a problem with the quality of education, work on fixing it. If you want your kid to go to a private school, it's the same as if you drive your kid to school (car pool) vs. riding the bus. It comes out of your pocket.
@ so students that are in municipalities with lower performing schools need to be forced into a lesser education while the school “works” on their performance? If the money is tied to the student, academic performance will go up and successful school districts will continue to expand creating more opportunities for even more students.
@@stewiesaidthat Failing schools should lose funding because they are failing. Part of the reason the public school system sucks is there is no accountability. Chicago and DC have some of the most per student funding and are still some of the worst performing schools in the country. "if you want your kid to go to a certain school, move to that district." What a wildly out of touch statement. You're basically still saying poor kids and poor parents shouldn't have a choice. "If there is a problem with the quality of education, work on fixing it." How exactly? Teachers unions make it nearly impossible to fire bad teachers, and gives little incentive for good teachers to be good teachers. And why is that the parent's responsibility and not the school's? "If you want your kid to go to a private school, it's the same as if you drive your kid to school (car pool) vs. riding the bus. It comes out of your pocket." We have 5 high schools, 9 middle schools and 17 elementary schools in our district. You are zoned to a particular school, usually which is closet. You can apply for a transfer to a different school within the district, but it's not guaranteed, and you would have to provide your own transportation.
You can NOT choose anywhere that I’ve ever lived. I’ve been around.
1. In most places you are zoned by your ADDRESS. Based on your address you have ONE elementary, ONE middle and ONE high school.
The district and county and zip code may have many options but you are zoned by your ADDRESS. You don't choose
