I used to have a huge mungus well fed sea bird roosting in a tree in my front yard and with a single poooop my car was covered plus an xtra 5 to 6 ft beyond both bumpers.
Wonder if they ever swallow something too big that they end up choking on? They seem willing to give anything a go, that "muskrat" is the biggest animal I've seen one of these Herons try to eat ever since I've gone down this "rabbit hole" of Heron videos.
Actually, they're not really related. Although birds evolved from reptiles, they belong to the group called Archosauria, which includes dinosaurs, crocodilians, pterosaurs (flying reptiles like pteranodon), and, of course, birds. Snakes belong to Lepidosauria, which includes lizards, snakes, tuataras, and lots of little-known extinct reptiles. Birds, therefore, are actually no more closely related to snakes than they are to iguanas or chameleons. Of the modern reptiles, crocodilians are their nearest relatives. By the same token, they're more closely related to brontosaurus or triceratops than they are to snakes. Seems counter-intuitive, I know, but that's the size of it, phylogenetically speaking.
Yesterday I tried the same, but I was not able to open my mouth so wide! The skin of my lips got cracks. So, we need to train. I suggest you start with a gopher or a pigeon.
Can I really handle this? Am I gonna choke on this? Seems like it was having second thoughts. Is there any video out there of a heron or any other bird choking and dying from biting more than it can swallow?
It's mad how they take land animals and drown them and take water animals on to land to kill them these are bloody fascinating im pretty hooked im a bit of a fiend IF U KNOW WHAT I MEAN
i love how he dips the rat in the water like he was dipping a nugget in sauce
Imagine this bird taking a dump while flying over your car?!
Yikes!
lol
🤔😂
*THWAP* 💩

Really smart to use the water as a lubricant, knowing dry, he might might choke on it. Nature's cool.
Hahaha I won't go there 🤣🤣
Never can tell if these birds actually WANT to eat the things that they're eating. It looks like they're constantly questioning their own sanity.
Dips it in water first like its the dipping sauce lmao
It has to be dunked somehow😂
With skills like that I’m sure she had no problems finding a man.
Oh, I get it, "she's a man eater...." 🤣
you are crazy...the heron will be choked with armpit hair...and died
Got it ... HAHAHA
Kuş çok akilli
Aaaaaaaaaaa
Closest thing you're ever gonna' see to a dinosaur, folks.
@ ever heard of a komodo dragon?
Heron: "I'd better lube this up in the water a bit..."
Heron is a killer , it will eat any thing moving
Yea, watch out, it will eat you too, lol
The day started off so good for the muskrat too!
That is awesome! It's getting that muskrat good & wet,so it will go down a lot easyer!
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Muskrat shooter...
I like how they go all still for a bit before the final woofing down of the prey as if psyching themselves into it.. freaky huh
It's keeping it's eye out for predators

That’s a pretty big meal. Shouldn’t have to worry about eating again for a week.
Heron said Let me go get some dipping sauce for this big boy
He seemed to think hard before committing to that meal.......wow
Blue heron stork or whatever. Always wondered how they delivered babies to people's houses. That dude got a huge beak. 😯
I like Dunking cookies, it makes them softer.
These herons are some serious hunters...
The Heron can break the Muskrats neck with its first attack leaving it totally paralyzed. That's why you don't see the rat trying to struggle at all
Thank you I always wondered how they're immobilized
I don't see how the bird can accurately hit a small neck in a single attempt
He doesn't hit the neck, they shake the body repeatedly which will break the neck eventually. A couple of heron vids you'll notice it.
Blue Heron: hold my beer, I got this
And this was just the appetizer.
Thought he was going to need the Heimlich maneuver
The muskrat probably thought that he was safe from big Bird.
O cardápio desse predador miniatura de pterodactilos é bem variado, ratos, préas, cobras, patinhos, filhote de aves e peixes.
Years ago I saw one try to eat a Muskrat, tried and tried, gave up, dropped it and flew away.
Like all eating contests, dunk the food in water to make it slip down easier. He's done this before.
They all do that, it seems the rodent fur is too course.
one can see how birds and snakes are related
Distantly. Very distantly, but closer than that muskrat.
They called both animals thats wy.

Amazing video, thanks for posting.
Wow! It’s insane! Great video!
Man, a rodent ain't got a chance with a heron around..
Thiên nhiên hoang dã rất là tuyệt vời👍
I'm going to see if I can swallow my cat like that!!! If you don't hear from me in an hour, call 911!!! 🤢
Yesterday I tried the same, but I was not able to open my mouth so wide! The skin of my lips got cracks. So, we need to train. I suggest you start with a gopher or a pigeon.
Modern day descendant of a T Rex.
Hide yo wife, hide yo kids, hide yo wallet...
holy shit. he did it.
The muskrat’s already dead!? BORING!!!! It’s better when the animal the heron swallows is alive because it struggles. It’s hilarious.
It was alive, I filmed 37 mins of video on this. This is just the last 1.

Great Capture. Big like

They make a scary screech if you suprise one
It's mad how they take land animals and drown them and take water animals on to land to kill them these are bloody fascinating im pretty hooked im a bit of a fiend IF U KNOW WHAT I MEAN
Another one bites the dust.
عندما يلتهم شي اكبر من بلعومه رغم بلعومه يتمدد كالحيه
Down the hatch! (I hope the muskrat was already dead as it went down, otherwise, it died a slow and agonizing death inside the belly of that bird).
Indigestion for the heron
Quit playing with your food and eat it
Now thats a meal!
watching the blue heron swallowing the big muskrat!
Can I get some water with my rat please???
Wonder why they always hesitate before eating?
Checking the surrounding I suppose.
Good to see she washes her food off first though...
Muskrat love
If that bird was 2x bigger - we'd have something to fear and there would be open season on them. Glad it isn't.
There was an extinct heron known to the Ancient Egyptians called the Bennu heron that was 6.6 ft tall, bigger even than the Goliath Heron.
Hi
Michael Williams
Where is this place?
Melton Hill Lake. Powell, TN.
what a meal !!!!
I see he likes to double dip , extra sauce please
Damnnnnnnnn Gina!
He's drowning it over and over again
Probably drenching it to facilitate swallowing.
Bye Byes Misteer MUSKRATES!
What is the fucking stomach it has!
Yes I’ll take the muskrat dish and a pond of water on the side thank you
Exactly
I wish I could take you, hotie.😉
@Ascended Master What the fuck, dude?
😁🤭👍👇👍😂😂😂
Eventually it did.
Birds are so savage. Send this to Joe Rogan!
wowzers!!
SOME NECK!
Amazing...lol
Hungry boi
Great... We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks Have a happy day! Keep it up! +thumb up3!
Those are stupid birds they have their food almost swallowed then spit it out. There freakin pigs.
That’s not muskrat, common rat (from England, many years ago).
How it feels to swallow a jaw breaker.
If they had adapted feet with sharp claws they could tear the prey in smaller pieces to eat, swallowing a bigger prey whole might be difficult
