Beefy Smash Doods Heyo. I play Lucario so I don't have a multijab, but how were you doing it with mario? There is so little advancement with Lucario tech that I'm trying to see what is possible and get all the info I can get
2:33 Even when AB smash is activated, you can buffer special moves by pushing the "grab" button repeatedly after the rapid jab starts. The way introduced in this video requires precision timing, for you have to let go off A JUST BEFORE slipping down from the edge. I recommend "grab" button way.
Thank you! This has always been happening to me and it can get really frustrating falling instead of doing the rapid jab finisher. But now I know why it happens and how to use it to my advantage. You guys really do change the meta one video at a time.
+Mr.Boss9 We didn't find it and are aware that people know about it. We just want to go into detail of what happens and what you can do with it. -Risuno
Diddy's foward facing edge slip looks scary. If you don't shield, you're getting hit, and getting pushed offstage. If you shield, the diddy could perform an edge slip, and use his command grab. And thus, diddy is top-tier again.
Already knew about this, but its definitely useful. Its a somewhat specific situation, but not not too uncommon. With Captain Falcon, you can do edge cancel rapid jab into up b like shown in the video. I believe you can do rapid jab to up air with Falcon as well but it's harder. Doing up b would be better though. It gets a meaty amount of damage as well of course, so it's always nice. About 29 or so % in total.
Your theory about the edge slip is correct: Kirby's is easiest to see, I think. His rapid jabs are all lines, but the finisher goes down in a curve and you can see the curve as he falls due to Smash 4's tracing
There is a mechanic in place that prevents the player from slipping off a ledge during a grounded move. this mechanic is what keeps Fox from falling off the edge when he does a grounded Side B standing close to it. This mechanic stops working when your attacks connect with your opponent or their shield. This is why rapid jabbing forwards without an opponent there never causes the player to slip off.
If you took the time to learn specifics of who it works with/on, this could be pretty useful especially against opponents who know the game very well but do not know about this. One could argue that it is only as useful if you can use it to surprise an opponent, but it offers a situational mindgame tool that could be used very effectively.
I've seen Abadango use this with Mewtwo (facing the stage version) to combo into Disable, which works against shielding opponents because it shield pokes at their feet. Really useful actually, and I've had it happen a couple of times in some matches I've played.
Risa JessGaming It's based on what direction the character is facing. It has nothing to do with the position of the eyes, but if the opponent is facing Mewtwo. The interaction of hit/hurtboxes is simply if the Disable hitbox and the opponent's hurtbox connects. In Melee, Disable often missed short or low crouching opponents because Mewtwo did it while standing, but in Smash 4, Mewtwo lowers his own profile while executing the move, and the hitbox is slightly larger, allowing it to hit most opponents now. It still misses opponents if they have lowered their profile (such as those with low crouches or getting footstooled while on the ground), which is why Mewtwo's Disable Double Jump Cancel infinite doesn't work on some characters, as the hitbox just straight up misses the opponent's hurtbox. So it has nothing to do with eye contact.
I knew this worked with falco, but I didn't know so many characters could do this. I used to think a nair would always come out. I was probably buffering it. Very interesting.
I think the aerial always is a Nair because of that input lock thing from a previous video. Since you were jabbing which is accomplished pressing strictly the A button with no direction. You cant buffer any other tilt out of the jabs. If you try to buffer an aerial/tilt by spamming the c stick in a direction it would only buffer a nair/jab since while multi jabbing you continuously buffer another neutral jab no matter the direction you point the c stick in.
BSD! I found an attack that does more damage than the one you did in your Strongest Hit video! You just have to have Shulk using the Buster Monado Art being hit by the reflected tree. Unfortunately you can't use custom moves in 8 player, but I managed to find how to do it on Gaur Plains! Also unfortunately, I had to go before I could actually land it on Shulk. When I'm done, I'll try to send the video to you... somehow. Are you on Discord?
You talk about mashing B during the rapid jab. It's different for me because I use Wiimote and nunchuck. Even with a + b smash off, all mashing b will do is throw out the finisher. Is there any way I can fix this? A + b is its own control on the nunchuck setup, so is there something specific I can set it to to make it work?
This is nice to know especially since I didn't know that you could buffer a Special from it. Although, I'm kind of sad since it doesn't really benefit any of my mains.
Im pretty sure Ness' DTilt has this property too since it's easily spammable, but would be INSANELY hard to not input Dair by mistake cause you're already holding Down on the Control Stick. I did this once in a set unintentionally and got a surprise spike cause of it lol
hey bsd, I've noticed this happening to bowser when he fires, as sometimes I get pushed off the stage for no reason. Unfortunately ofc the fire isn't canceled since it's a special move. but can you confirm this?
There's a Falco combo using this. it kills Hella early haven't done percentage tests do it yourself. you jab cancel facing towards edge. nair with opponent being pulled down. footstool them. then, if need be, dair and kill them
I did this in an oomba tournament in Laguna hills CA against scooter in a falco ditto on smashville. I did dthrow reverse aerial rush double back air into d throw aerial rush reverse back air into jabs at ledge into dair. He almost died, but I dropped the edge guard and the set. Was hype though, got ninth
You guys should test crouch cancelling in this game. My friend and I were doing Ganon dittos, I was at around 80, he was at like 120ish, and he punished my landing with an fsmash, but I barely went off stage, from the center, too. I wasn't in freefall either, I was just landing on the ground normally, and so I think I pushed down right before to try to SDI the attack. This was also on Omega Hyrule 64.
Yay, now I can go on for glory with little mac and punish people with ko punch when I'm next to the Ledge! Now excuse, me I've got to Tyrannousaurus wreck some scrubs. lenny
How can this help me? This is an unpredictable slip effect. I remember a few times the Capt. Falcon players. who came to grab me while I was on the ledge. But, the grab canceled during his slip and falls into the void both. Two things happened to me: I fall on the player's head or my opponent falls unwittingly.
Edge Cancel? Does that mean that Dark Pit can turn into regular Pit?
Not A Person Eyyyyyy! 👉👉
shadOW THE hEDGEhog
David Fahlgren you can't do this
This was actually good. Props
fok u m8
Useful or nah?
Beefy Smash Doods
Somewhat yes.
Beefy Smash Doods
I often use it to set up a edge guard with Falco.
Oh hey. We should play
Thanks for teaching Greninja mains how to not die.
Beefy Smash Doods Heyo. I play Lucario so I don't have a multijab, but how were you doing it with mario? There is so little advancement with Lucario tech that I'm trying to see what is possible and get all the info I can get
Now that's EDGEY!
Get it?
Boo!
lol
I got a paper cut from this joke
PurpleOJ call me wraith, mom
WhErE's YoUr GoDdEsS nOw?
Last time i was early, Wario had the Wectoring momentum glitch.
Catching Zzs lol?
2:05 me trying to style
One day, I am going to binge all these videos and become not terrible at Smash.
COOL. I have to practice that. Corrin's and Greninja's respective Side B attacks could get big benefits from that.
1:12 Best Combo I've ever seen lol
Megatendo lp well you haven't seen enough buddy
Hell yeah it is
b0i
Dicks out for Villager
Villager FTW
2:33

This has actually been known for a looooong time now.
I have a video idea:
what can other characters do with mega man's metal blade?
and diddys banana, and
peach turnips
that sounds kind of useless tbh
situational as hell tbh, since it's entirely matchup-reliant.
Still, useful when the time may come. It's good to know these things.
I knew this existed, but now I know about it in a bit more detail. Thanks as always BSD
This is the one thing I already knew how to do on this channel before they posted it. I'm proud of myself.
Thank you! This has always been happening to me and it can get really frustrating falling instead of doing the rapid jab finisher. But now I know why it happens and how to use it to my advantage. You guys really do change the meta one video at a time.
Elektro Shokk ass kisser
Jaden Lopez He's just saying thank you, no need to be a jerk.
Jaden Lopez
The fuck is wrong with you?
o my
Thanks for giving little macs options out of rapid jab. The character really needed that...
not really
Honestly mac did need this.He isn't very good but he is incredibly annoying on FG
Styles found this a year before you did lol.
+Mr.Boss9 We didn't find it and are aware that people know about it. We just want to go into detail of what happens and what you can do with it.
-Risuno
Glad you guys did. Y'all go into really good detail with your videos. Good stuff
Pretty much everyone knew about it, it's just that this video tries to uncover the mechanics behind it and the possible applications.
Get wrecked m8. Karma sucks, doesn't it? Don't assume crap like this lol.
I saw this from styles a year ago but you're acting as if it's a race, they're both trying to help players learn new things
Diddy's foward facing edge slip looks scary. If you don't shield, you're getting hit, and getting pushed offstage. If you shield, the diddy could perform an edge slip, and use his command grab. And thus, diddy is top-tier again.
Could the buffer aerial result in nair similar to how the mechanics of yoshis egg works?
most likely
Just another thing that makes Bayo's rapid jab even better than it already is...
Love that you showed sheiks weird vanish glide from it! Hardly anyone knows about that :P
Megaman mains be like: "rapid jab edge cancel? I prefer edge canceling my Ftilt."
TheBestKiwi lol that one mega man main
One of the most useful methods in the game. Jab --> KO Punch and Jab --> Bucket :D
hey guys, great video. also just ordered a Ness shirt for my friend for Christmas. Damn good work, fellas!
Never thought I see the day when Beefy Smash Doods didn't put the song they play in the background in the description
love your videos guys! best quality on the net
I think the reason it will always buffer a Nair is probably because of aerial input lock, after all, the rapid-jab needs a bunch of S-button presses
What song or beat was playing during this video it's amazing
when you realize MSC talked about this in his very first video
Works better with Falco than any other character
DarkFox2071 yea know what you mean
If you can do the foward facing one with diddy though, you're basically god.
I noticed this a lot while playing with falco and it was pretty cool because he would after the jab do a neutral air
Already knew about this, but its definitely useful. Its a somewhat specific situation, but not not too uncommon. With Captain Falcon, you can do edge cancel rapid jab into up b like shown in the video. I believe you can do rapid jab to up air with Falcon as well but it's harder. It has happened all the time man , the feels ):
I'm 100% sure i've seen this already, alot of time ago.
Was it on my smash corner?
Dapix stylesx2?
yeah this is super old, but was never fully explained until now.
Ive known this for about a year...
Ghost Smash4 Good for you
So, you are just gonna say that everywhere?
Ghost Smash4 I'd give you a cookie if I gave a shit.
pretty sure more than half of the smash community knew about this
Good for you
Others: *uses this to their advantage*
Me: *holds jab button hoping the Shield would break*
Yeah, this happened to me. Against a Mac. With a KO punch. I was so confused. Thank you for explaining this.

This mechanic stops working when your attacks connect with your opponent or their shield. This is why rapid jabbing forwards without an opponent there never causes the player to slip off.
guys, styles only talked about the back facing the ledge, styles video wasnt about facing the ledge, so hop off BSD's case lol
If you took the time to learn specifics of who it works with/on, this could be pretty useful especially against opponents who know the game very well but do not know about this. One could argue that it is only as useful if you can use it to surprise an opponent, but it offers a situational mindgame tool that could be used very effectively.
Jab-cancel nair on falco is great for trolling friends, I've been doing it for quite a while heh.
I've seen Abadango use this with Mewtwo (facing the stage version) to combo into Disable, which works against shielding opponents because it shield pokes at their feet. Really useful actually, and I've had it happen a couple of times in some matches I've played.
That makes sense.(Why does that work?Feet are not eyes last time i checked)
Risa JessGaming It's based on what direction the character is facing. It has nothing to do with the position of the eyes, but if the opponent is facing Mewtwo. The interaction of hit/hurtboxes is simply if the Disable hitbox and the opponent's hurtbox connects.

***** I knew the first thing it's just.Ok
I haven't played melee before
Weren't those characters meta knight diddy and olimar?
I knew this worked with falco, but I didn't know so many characters could do this. I used to think a nair would always come out. I was probably buffering it. Very interesting.
I'm a bit surprised this is being covered now on this channel, i've seen it used by Sol quite a bit.
Have you thought about doing a video on the little mac tech discovered by sol called the gazelle punch?
Would you mind doing a part 2 finishing about what other moves can be used to edge slipped besides rapid jabs?
I think the aerial always is a Nair because of that input lock thing from a previous video. Since you were jabbing which is accomplished pressing strictly the A button with no direction. You cant buffer any other tilt out of the jabs. If you try to buffer an aerial/tilt by spamming the c stick in a direction it would only buffer a nair/jab since while multi jabbing you continuously buffer another neutral jab no matter the direction you point the c stick in.
I think neutral air is because of input lock.
Tfw they didn't add the music in the description ...
(Apologies for being off topic. Your music you put in the videos is always good.)
BSD! I found an attack that does more damage than the one you did in your Strongest Hit video! You just have to have Shulk using the Buster Monado Art being hit by the reflected tree. When I'm done, I'll try to send the video to you... somehow. Are you on Discord?
I just realized you allowed custom moves in your video, so I could also use the Hyper Monado Arts, but I don't have those unlocked.
You talk about mashing B during the rapid jab. It's different for me because I use Wiimote and nunchuck. Even with a + b smash off, all mashing b will do is throw out the finisher. Didnt you guys do this video before last year or was it a different channel?
Rosalina falls so slow that she can immediately go back to stage and combo a jab into a jab
If this is true (Both a true combo and a true statement) then that is stupid
Wow.. i can't believe i just noticed that the BSD logo is a piece of beef...
yeah i've been doing jab to up b with meta knight for a while now, really good kill confirm especially on platforms
how do you make the bots in training mode do what you want them to do? been looking everywhere but i can't find it
You guys should do tank tops for the shirts! I would definitely buy some.
Didn't StylesX2 figure this out?
Damn, if you guys made a solo Meta Knight, or a Meta Knight x Kirby shirt, I would've picked up a few!
Is there a complete list of which characters can perform this?
Starlight GRAND DAD
LOOK AT YOU BEIN ALL LACTOSE TOLERANT
hey bsd, I've noticed this happening to bowser when he fires, as sometimes I get pushed off the stage for no reason. Unfortunately ofc the fire isn't canceled since it's a special move. but can you confirm this?
Also works with bowsers neutral B with your back facing the ledge :o
You should make a video about people how roll to edges and throw projectils like link and samus, that would be something useful
5:05 Great. Another way for Fox to setup his Fair -> Footstool combo. #FoxIsHonest
Now all masked potato sack of rye needs to do is give him his shine back.
there are times when ill jab at the ledge as ryu facing fowards and i will get pushed off. its really hard to replicate.
i feel like you didnt pick a good pose for roy to be in with that shirt artwork
can captian falcon slide of the edge with the opponent after jab and get a tru combo for his fair?
There's a Falco combo using this. it kills Hella early haven't done percentage tests do it yourself. you jab cancel facing towards edge. nair with opponent being pulled down. footstool them. then, if need be, dair and kill them
Who are the characters that can edge slip through shield?
I need a list of all the moves that can do this
Yay!More techniques that Ganondorf can't use!
I was just researching this with BowserJr!
How do you get the computer to do what you want them to do in training mode?
2:41 little Mac finally recovered!
The fox jab, fair, footstool looks really useful. Is it a true combo? character dependant?
It can be airdodged out of after the Jab
Ghost Smash4 oh lame
It's a 50/50
if they jump then short hop fair
if they airdodge, wait and then fair
It is a good option to go for occasionally though because the opponent will often forget about it, so it can surprise them and take a quick stock
Non Johns what if they jump *and* airdodge tho :o
Does Larry Lurr do this technique in his plays?
did this with falco a few times. worked to my advantage
You guys should make an awesome firefox shirt.
Can Robin do the ledge facing slip cancel?
Do you think that when a character blocks the jabs it wil effect the edge slip because of traction of the characters sheild pressure
Christian Morrow it doesn't you still slip
You guys should test crouch cancelling in this game. My friend and I were doing Ganon dittos, I was at around 80, he was at like 120ish, and he punished my landing with an fsmash, but I barely went off stage, from the center, too. If kirbies f-air could properly link hits that would be a good follow up at kill percent even 👌
Works on pikachu? Or dancing blade?
How do you edge cancel the rapid jab?
I have been knowing about this for an eternity but I never tried to buffer a Falco Phantasm in case I hit a shield in order to avoid a punish, hmmm...
Great video!
Yay, now I can go on for glory with little mac and punish people with ko punch when I'm next to the Ledge!
Now excuse, me I've got to Tyrannousaurus wreck some scrubs. lenny
it's not as easy as it looks boi
U gave me an idea,👍
if I am doing a rapid jab an I miss my final super jab then I hold it till they try to hit me I just hit them with the super hit
In this game, if you buffer an aerial the first frame you go off a ledge, nair will always happen. Its a normal thing unfortunately.
and I will definitely stay beefy:)
does it works in greninjas jab?
Dat Ness shirt so tight
How many freakin' videos did you made regarding ledges? Like, three bilions or something.
this is by far the most edgy smash game they've made
5:00 I've never seen that Kirby hat :0
How can this help me? This is an unpredictable slip effect. I remember a few times the Capt. Falcon players. who came to grab me while I was on the ledge. But, the grab canceled during his slip and falls into the void both. Two things happened to me: I fall on the player's head or my opponent falls unwittingly.
Kévin Lucario this isn't unpredictable and Falcons grab slide occurs if you dash grab close enough to ledge
