OF COURSE we made it to 12:50 ... and all the way to 19:13 ... what's the point of watching someone as interesting as you are if we were to stop short?!?
If you want another tear jerking Voctave reaction, check out 'Mary Did You Know?'. They sang it with Mark Lowry, the original writer of the song and it is really something special.
If you aren't aware, the tenor in the white jacket in the middle is Jamey Ray. As PHENOMENAL as the members of Voctave are collectively and individually, the real brilliance is in Jamey's arrangements! He knows his singers and how to showcase each singer's talent and then integrate them at their very best. He's arranging TO THE SINGERS instead of just arranging and hoping the singers can pull it off. Simply magnificent!
Voctave is just as amazing in concert! - Disney princess medley is a common one to react to (for good reason) - You Will Be Found may bring the tears - Carol of the Bells of Notre Dame when we get closer to Christmas
@@smallmoments957 It did, still have a long recovery but hope to get the staples out this coming week. 3 to 6 month recovery. But very hopeful! Thanks!!
Beautiful song! And my attention was caught by the expression in your eyes and wow.. your tears really fell (I zoomed it intentionally) 😬 You're a soft-hearted person, aren’t you? Nice reaction as always, love it! 😍
How wonderful to see another who allows music to enter their soul and move them so profoundly. Music touches me like this sometimes and the tears just flow from the sheer beauty of it. Love your reactions. Thank you!
If you're going to do Voctave again, one great song is when they sing Mary Did You Know wth the composer of that song, Mark Lowrey. Voctave displays incredible control in volume, projection, and more making this a favorite of many. Love your work!
Wow, your reactions are not only educational for the listener but hear things most of us aren't capable of. Well done! I started listening to Voctave about 1 year ago and are obsessed so here are a few of my recommendations: For Christmas: O Holy Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Mary Did You Know, Carol of the Bells/Bells of Notre Dame, Where Are You Christmas, We Need A Little Christmas. For Disney: Princess Medley, Love Medley (which you already did), Heroes and Villains, Park Medley, How Far I'll Go. For Broadway: Prince of Egypt (no video) but amazing, Great Movie Medley, You Will Be Found (with virtual choir), Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Enjoy and keep up the good work!
So happy you are back with Voctave! This song is timeless (sadly... still looking for that peaceful and accepting somewhere) and so poignant. 11 amazing voices with an stellar arrangement. I totally agree with you they deserve so many more views. Can’t wait to see you react to their Great Movie Medley, one of my favourite. But really, it’s all good. Thank you. 🤗
I love this piece. Voctave have such a specific sound. You should try their Disney heroes and villains medley for a "blimey" moment. But all their music is wonderful. Your tears mirror my own.
This has been one of my VERY favorite songs from West Side Story (though I love every single piece of music in the play/movie). I learned to sing it in our school choir, when I was 14, and we presented a scaled down version of it with the school's drama club. I've been singing it ever since, and I never get enough of it (and all of the other West Side Story songs). I also never get enough of VOCTAVE! I love that you've reacted to their arrangement of the song. It's just gorgeous. GREAT REACTION! Thank you very, very much. 😀
Have to mention; did my Bible study and my me time with or Maker and the clear message was HOPE. I started to browse through my subscriptions and yes this is the chosen reaction to listen to first. And the message for me; HOPE. What a stunning way to relax. Congratulations on your 40K and a big thank you for this gem Greetings from South Africa
Never have I found a group that makes me feel the way Voctave does. And that's saying a lot cause I'm a die hard Pentatonix fan and I adore Home Free as well. But Voctave transfer a different kind of magic with their sound. I've seen most people in the comments have already recommended some must-watch Voctave pieces, so I'll spare you and just say I can't wait to see more Voctave reactions from you. :)
Fun fact: This was filmed at PattyCake! VoicePlay used this same background for their cover of Whiskey in the Jar which was filmed around the same time. I’m really happy you enjoyed this and can’t wait for you to explore more of them! You already have my Voctave wish list.
Oh wow! I didn't even notice the background because of all their amazing voices. Yep, I've seen that background countless times listening to Whiskey in the Jar. I'm looking forward to its appearance here someday. Thanks for the fun fact! 😃
From the first note, Voctave created a tidal wave of sound that kept propelling me forward ... an emotional anticipation of what would happen next. It continued to build until I actually caught myself holding my breath at the end. Incredible performance (and as always, ... good job explaining why, 'Sir').
Many would weep, I think. We have Geoff of Voice Play singing from the deepest valley and Kate Lott of Voctave singing from the highest mountain. How lucky we are to be here to listen. Thanks, as always.
I’ve had the pleasure of sitting on the floor under the dome in the American pavilion in Disney’s EPCOT park listening live to most of these singers. They are powerful and awesome. A wonderful experience. When Kate hits those high notes under the dome WOW
Yes more Voctave!! I definitely love their arrangements a lot!! Many people probably suggested many great videos, but Halloween is coming and they have collaborated with Rachel Potter in Poor unfortunate soul/I put a spell on you video. It's a great fun!!
Thanks for this one. I think it's stunning. That ending and that soprano!!!!!! I'm with you on the bluesy run that one of the female singers did - she sounded amazing but I also felt it jarred a bit in this arrangement. They have such a range of incredible voices within their group though. Somewhere is such a beautiful, haunting song and I think they nailed that feeling. I appreciate the video being completely simple too - so the focus is just on the unbelievable vocals.
Fantastic reaction. Voctave captures you with just their voices. Just 11 people sharing their gift and it freezes you, and makes your eyes sweat. I have not read all of the comments below so I apologize if I am repeating someone else's suggestion but Please Review Disney Princesses Medley and the Hero's and Villians medley (2 different compilations). This will give you a chance to hear every member for more than just a couple of bars. This group is phenomenal, and I love that you experience the emotional side like the rest of us.
It is a beautiful song., such emotion. A couple of yrs back, Voctave came to FSU for Opening Nights and I went and got to hear them in person. Utterly worthwhile. With Christmas coming up, please do Voctave's version of Mary Don't You Know? with the lyricist Mark Lowry who sings the lead in it. Music written by Buddy Greene. Voctave version is superlative and stunning.
Favorite Voctave pieces? I have to mention Mary, Did You Know? again. On A Clear Day, Remember Me, Someone Like You. VOCTAVE!! Someone else here has already mentioned O, Come All Ye Faithful. I've enjoyed every song I've heard by them. This was another fascinating analysis. Thanks! BTW, how about Pieces of Dreams sung by Johnny Mathis. I heard on TV it the night it aired of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson decades ago. Knocked my socks off. Streisand has done both Someday and Pieces of Dreams. A colleague knew I loved Streisand, so she got me the cassette with Somewhere on it (like I said, decades ago) for Secret Santa one year, and I'd crank up the volume at school and correct papers to the tape. I suspect I drove my other colleagues to distraction, but no one ever complained. Good times!
Wow, thanks for doing this one. These guys are truely amazing. To me, this rendition makes me realize that though we are forced to really pay attention to the extremes of vocal range because of their uniqueness, there are people with world-class ability with vocal ranges that we can more easily relate to.
West Side Story has some incredibly beautiful music and the arrangement of these vocals is stunning. The clarity and tone gives me goosebumps. I have never heard this group before but when your reaction came in my feed and the song (which I already loved), curiosity got the best of me. I’m happy it did! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦!
Great reaction! Liked and subscribed! You mentioned you'd only done one other Voctave reaction (which I very much enjoyed, by the way) so I would love to see more Voctave reactions. However, be warned: the Voctave rabbit hole is very deep but very satisfying.
Another sleeper is the O Come, O Come Emmanuel mash. Kate's voice really shines and its only been reacted to one or two times. I think it will make you tear up again.
“They are good. That's a good one.” True words, my weepy friend. So wonderful that such incredible art and artistry is available to us, and so nice to know that those of us that tear up when basking in that beauty are not alone.
Wow Sir H! Good filth indeed! ⚡️⚡️⚡️You were frozen and then you were bamboozled! Hahaha 😂 I agree there was good reason - what voices and what arrangement ....I didn't know Voctave before you introduced them to your channel. ❤🎶😃 I also watched your Patreon behind-the-scenes experience at the Royal Albert Hall - amazing! - thank you for sharing it! 👌🫶🙏🤩
Love your analysis! Many below - you can't go wrong. Others: "Carol of the Bells of Notre Dame" (great mash up), Prince of Egypt Medley (only audio), Someday. All excellent! I've seen them live as well and they are wonderful vocalists.
My favourite Voctave video is their Great Movie Medley. It's a collection of John Williams scores, and it's basically your entire childhood compiled into one video. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
OMG - How totally beautiful in the movie and this always makes me cry- I love the words - hell, I just love this wonderful play and 2 great movies. Totally beautiful rendition. I think the second movie didn't get the credit it deserved. One Hand one Heart - it just sends chills and tears every time. Sigh😢😊 ❤R/A🎼 I love this group.
YES! The Prince of Egypt Medley is my favourite as well! Even if you don't know the movie the music will blow you away. (Trust us, you won't mind that's it's only audio - it may even add to the experience!)
Loved your reaction and analysis, as always! Such a moving piece and phenomenal arrangement! Jamey knows each voice and writes accordingly. Anything by #Voctave is brilliant but some of my personal favs - not including their wonderful Christmas music: The Prince of Egypt Medley (audio only) You Will Be Found (done during Covid) Disney Princess Medley - a chance to hear each of the women truly shine Disney Heroes and Villians Medley - this time the men have a turn
Many have tried to not weep. Many have failed! Have you heard EJ sing with Voiceplay yet? He is Omars brother. Voiceplays version of I Cant Make You Love Me is absolutely stunning and features EJ, very heavily lead by Cesar.
💧 ... great choice Sir Hairless ! Wowwwzerr ..... once again I am reminded that the human voice is the most impactful instrument. It is certainly okay to shed a tear or twelve. Maybe this recommendation will move you .. Bonnie Raitt featuring Crosby & Stills - "Love Has No Pride" Thank you for bringing thirteen tears to my eyes. ❣️
If you enjoyed this one, can I suggest Voctave's version of "You Will Be Found" from "Dear Evan Hansen". Great arrangement that had me blubbing way before the end. It also features a virtual choir of their subscribers, which I thought was a lovely inclusion. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do, Sir Hairless.
What an amazing arrangement of this wonderful song. I love the song and it touches me everytime. I only watched Westside story once, I could never do it again because I can´t stand hate, fights and intrigues. it literally breaks my heart, but I love the music and especially this song and this arrangement touched me in the depth of my soul. Would love to see your reaction to Voctaves "on a clear day you can see forever" ft. Tituss Burgess
With the holiday season fast approaching, an underrated treat is Pentatonix + Voctave with Once Upon A December. There isn't an official video but there is a "Yule Log" version courtesy of PTX. th-cam.com/video/1ewNpv1M_jY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-tqXrpaMtin4wjJ4 (Edit: better link below) It's a stunning arrangement. Btw, Voctave take my breath away nearly every time.
@@thisismetoday7423 Now I'm so befuddled as i could swear i saw this credit via a Spotify release. I've just gone searching and i can't find a credit anywhere so I'm obviously mistaken. And now I have a mental mystery to solve - lol.
Anything they do is sure to please but I am particularly fond of their Prince of Egypt medley as well as their cover of Baby Mine. EJ really shines in their rendition of O Come All Ye Faithful
Voctave delivers a stunning performance with their interpretation and arrangement of “Somewhere.” The combination of the music’s beauty and the poignant lyrics underscores its timelessness-written 67 years ago and soon to mark its 68th anniversary. Is it the dissonant opening interval of a minor 7th that draws us in and holds our attention? Or perhaps it’s the powerful collaboration of Sondheim, Bernstein, and Shakespeare, which gifted us an anthem of love-love that transcends cultural boundaries. It’s a message of tolerance, opposing discrimination against individuals for who they are, and a beacon of hope in times of division. The dream of harmony and universal peace remains an enduring and vital aspiration. Voctave offers a subtle yet meaningful nod to Ukraine by wearing blue and yellow-the colors of Ukraine's flag. This thoughtful choice symbolizes their support for tolerance, love, and hope, extending a message of solidarity to the Ukrainian people. Thank you for your interpretation-- musically, emotionally, and spiritually. “We’ll find a new way of living, we’ll find a way of forgiving. Somewhere.”--Sondheim (1957)
The female before EJ and EJ have similar vocal styles. It's interesting to me that the other singers have gone back and forth between strong fwd placement timbre to more upper resonant breathy timbre or dark timbre to light timbre creating a pull similar to a tide waning amd waxing. Then during the build, he puts 2 singers with similar timbres and styles back to back creating a longer draw to a small climax before Kate takes the lead. Jamie is an amazing arranger.
Just found your reaction and I think it’s phenomenal! I would LOVE to see your reaction to Jacob Collier’s World O World. It is truly a transcending experience
I’m hoping when you begin to do Christmas song you react to their Where are You Christmas song. It’s very moving. They also do Mary Did You Know with the writer, Mark Lowry, of the song. So so so good! All of their Christmas songs are awesome!
I’d really like to see you react to the “I Am What I Am” arrangement by Voctave and The Swingles. It’s a bit mind-boggling how much is going on! Super interesting and intricate collaboration…. I think you’ll really enjoy that one: th-cam.com/video/AI2DAphKC4Q/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared And I echo (again) others’ suggestions for you to do their “Mary Did You Know” and “O Come All Ye Faithful” … both stellar endeavors!!!! 🎄 🎄 🎄
I love the beginning. Beautifully done. It gave me goosebumps, and it made me teary-eyed too. But the last part of this arrangement didn't do it for me, I found it too high, too shrill and harsh. I missed the still but hopeful mood I feel would suit this song. Probably not a popular opinion, though. 😅
Please please please analyze Jacob Collier’s World or World, Official Score. It’s filled with quite a bit of cacophony (Jacob’s middle name I think). I imagine you would pause and rewind many many times. 😊
Disclaimer: I love all the a capella groups and respect their singing talents. However. I have trouble listening to Voctave, and here's why: The pitch correction used in post-production in their videos somehow transforms these 11 voices into an inhuman cacophony that pierces my ear drums like daggers. I wish we could just listen to their real voices, because they are so talented; especially Kate Lott - what a monstrously fabulous soprano. However, this large group of combined voices have been made painful to hear. And it may well be just my perspective, but it even appeared to me that even Sir Hairless was wincing through some of it, as if it were painful, although his words were appreciative his facial expression said something different. Maybe he will correct me if I've concluded wrongly. Anyway, I anticipate my remarks here to be unpopular. Know that there is no malice in them.
I understand where you're coming from - it's definitely an intense and powerful sound! But I think most Voctave fans enjoy it, rather than finding it painful My wince-y face doesn't often align to how I'm feeling 😅 It usually happens when I'm a bit shocked by what I'm hearing! I've been listening to this song on repeat since this recording and at first I definitely did think the high ending was a bit much. But it's grown on me a lot 🎵

Many have tried to not weep. Many have failed! Have you heard EJ sing with Voiceplay yet? He is Omars brother. Voiceplays version of I Cant Make You Love Me is absolutely stunning and features EJ, very heavily lead by Cesar.
PS i so appreciate your reaction/breakdowns!
I bet many have failed!
Yes, I mention this in the video ☺
@@SirHairless yes i was commenting as I watched, then got to the EJ part...doh, my bad:)
💧 ... great choice Sir Hairless ! Wowwwzerr ..... once again I am reminded that the human voice is the most impactful instrument. It is certainly okay to shed a tear or twelve.
Maybe this recommendation will move you ..
Bonnie Raitt featuring Crosby & Stills - "Love Has No Pride"
Thank you for bringing thirteen tears to my eyes. ❣️
Their "Fly" medley is a favorite of mine!
Thank you, sir. Lovely ❤
I'd recommend watching the 2021 version of the film 🎥
With the holiday season fast approaching, an underrated treat is Pentatonix + Voctave with Once Upon A December.
There isn't an official video but there is a "Yule Log" version courtesy of PTX.

(Edit: better link below)
It's a stunning arrangement. Btw, Voctave take my breath away nearly every time.
I wonder why PTX didn’t credit Voctave anywhere in the video or description.
@@thisismetoday7423 Now I'm so befuddled as i could swear i saw this credit via a Spotify release. I've just gone searching and i can't find a credit anywhere so I'm obviously mistaken. And now I have a mental mystery to solve - lol.
Okay, not losing my mind. This RCA link does appear to credit Voctave.

Thank you!
I see that a few others have also suggested this but, Disney Princess Medley please.
Tonight directed by Leonard Bernstein, nothing can beat that piece from Westside Story
Their Prince of Egypt medley will rock your socks!!
Voctave's best arrangement and performance by far is O Come all Ye Faithful.
This one may or may not be on my Christmas list for December 👀🎄
@@SirHairless perfect.
I’m hoping when you begin to do Christmas song you react to their Where are You Christmas song. It’s very moving. They also do Mary Did You Know with the writer, Mark Lowry, of the song. So so so good! All of their Christmas songs are awesome!
new group for me wow
I’d really like to see you react to the “I Am What I Am” arrangement by Voctave and The Swingles. It’s a bit mind-boggling how much is going on! Super interesting and intricate collaboration…. I think you’ll really enjoy that one: th-cam.com/video/AI2DAphKC4Q/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
And I echo (again) others’ suggestions for you to do their “Mary Did You Know” and “O Come All Ye Faithful” … both stellar endeavors!!!! 🎄 🎄 🎄
No one can sing this as good as Barbra Streisand did. 👍
❤
Disney's Heroes and Villains (not sure of the spelling 🤭)
Ooooooooo!
I would love to see a version where the whole performance is in the style of the first half
@SirHairless Yes! I would too!
Please please please analyze Jacob Collier’s World or World, Official Score. It’s filled with quite a bit of cacophony (Jacob’s middle name I think). I imagine you would pause and rewind many many times. 😊
I'm not sure I'll get round to doing Jacob's stuff anytime soon, but who knows!

Do Disney Princess Medley
it's on my list
But I think most Voctave fans enjoy it, rather than finding it painful
My wince-y face doesn't often align to how I'm feeling 😅 It usually happens when I'm a bit shocked by what I'm hearing!
I've been listening to this song on repeat since this recording and at first I definitely did think the high ending was a bit much. But it's grown on me a lot 🎵
@@SirHairless thank you for the insight to your feelings on this performance. I'm glad it was moving for you and wish I could enjoy it as well. 😊
