Yeah any "rifle rated" steel past like 350 can be tough to see hits. I've got some 1/4" thick targets I use for extended range 22 and even those when they're large get to be too heavy to clearly see impacts. I bet you could get Caldwell to send you some of their flashbang hit indicators for your channel ;)
